Stopped to see our daughter at UF on November 21, 2023. Decided to stay overnight, so we booked at this Hampton at 5 pm because it was near the campus. Upon arriving 5 minutes later at 5:05 pm we realized the location was a mistake because it was near the noisy bar and restaurant area that our daughter took us on a prior visit. Also, the area seems very unsafe so we went inside and asked the front desk to cancel the reservation made 5 minutes earlier, as it was not where we wanted to be located with our younger daughter for the evening. We were told that canceling was not possible. But after speaking with the front desk for a few minutes she told us it was canceled. We found other accomodations in a nicer, quieter area. Upon checking my card statement the following week I learned that the Hampton Inn Downtown charged me the full cost of the reservation, $158 and then a few days later credited the card $50.Do not book this place, and had we taken time to read the other reviews about the room conditions, parking and location, we would not have booked either.

The location is great and they knew that it was for the weekend event so they hiked up the price 5 times the usual price. You would expect better service or at least standard service for that price increase but we don’t even get a visit from housekeeping. Worst of all, the room smelled like mildew so bad that we were both feeling horribly sick a day into the weekend stay but had no alternatives. We told the front desk and they couldn’t do anything about it because there was no cleaning staff. This is unacceptable after the Significant Halloween weekend price increase. They never tried to help all weekend. They didn’t give any kind of credit for our 3 day stay or do anything" the room had liquid stains on the wall and had a horribly musky smell that we couldn’t get rid of no matter how much we blasted the ac .

Being complementary breakfast was not good at all. I could only enjoy the coffee and the fresh fruit. Hot foods were not good.Rooms: On a whole, the hotel was very nice. However, the breakfast needs a lot of work.

Staff was friendly, breakfast is not included with your room. The sights around town are eclectic. Town is full of life and culture. Bring your camera.

Great location with a wide variety of shopping and restaurants nearby. It was a bye week, so the hotel and surrounding are was very quiet. No coffee/hot water in the lounge except during breakfast hours. But of course, there was a coffee maker in the room to save the day if that is to your liking.

Room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Nice clean shower, sink and toilet. The service was nice. They were accommodating with the room I asked for. The location isn't bad. It can get a little noisy because of the college kids. Although the room I had was quiet and away from all the

Our stay at the Hampton Inn & Suites Gainesville-Downtown was a delightful experience from start to finish. The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating right from the moment we arrived. They went the extra mile by offering us two rooms next to each other, which was a wonderful gesture that made our stay even more enjoyable.Initially, we were a bit concerned about our rooms being close to the morning dining area, but those worries were quickly put to rest. The morning was actually quite pleasant, and we appreciated the convenience of being near the dining area for breakfast. The only hiccup in our otherwise fantastic stay was a group of people who decided to have a late-night gathering in the common area, making it extremely loud. However, a quick phone call to the lobby staff resolved the disturbance promptly, and we were back to a peaceful night's rest.We want to express our gratitude for the excellent service provided by the Hampton Inn & Suites staff. Despite the minor disturbance, their responsiveness and willingness to ensure our comfort were truly commendable. This experience reaffirms our trust in the Hampton Inn brand, and we look forward to staying with you again in the future. Thank you for a great stay!

2nd time at this hotel- (due to convenience local for cross state driving!)Room 307The hotel room was gross, wet carpet and moldy! Totally outdated - dark, room - limited light. The location is awesome and the staff were terrific! Especially helpful, was Charlae, the adorable car ? park employee. 6;15 am on a holiday weekend, Charlae made the effort to find my missing vehicle in a dark garage!Hats off to a very dedicated and hard working young lady!

Buyer beware. Rooms are hot, AC does not work well, beds are uncomfortable, they don't clean even when you ask them to clean, limited supply of towels and pillows. If not for the tremendous location for game weekend experience, would never stay here.

My wife and I have a very contagious virus that we can provide proof of and was told no cancellations under any circumstances. Unbelievable. Not throwing away over $1000 so see you Friday, virus and all!

Staff were excellent on all shifts. Breakfast is basic, but has something for all. I would have liked bacon and potatoes with eggs. Only offered sausage pattie. Cereal, muffins, fruit, and waffles. King room with sofa, microwave and small fridge, no freezer. Very spacious. Walking distance to restaurants. No pet area, very little grass, all concrete downtown. Felt safe out in the evening. Biggest downside was no self parking, vallet only. You have to shell out 30 bucks a night so add that to your room quote. Just stayed Hilton in downtown DC and was only 25 bucks parking. Parking garage is right next to hotel and I think even though I enjoyed my two night stay I will grab a Hampton/ Hilton off the highway next time through. Probably 5 stars for business travel with downtown needs. 3-4 stars for family

The last place on earth I’d ever stay at again. Room was gross. The fixtures in the bathroom needed to be wiped down. The carpet on the floor was wet. The shower clogged. The only reason it has 2 stars is the lobby was clean and so was the gym and breakfast area. Location is good since it’s right downtown.Rooms: Need to be refurbished and get rid of the carpet. My room needed an enter at you own will sign.

Hilton brand is never my first choice and over the years I've just watched the entire chain go down hill. This stay definitely reinforced my opinion that they are second rate and couldn't care less. Sometimes you don't have a choice and the hotels know it.I was supposed to stay at another hotel a few days earlier but my sons apartment isn't finished being built( that's another nightmare) so I had to change my plans. Gainesville is not the easiest place to get a room when it's move-in week, football season or graduation. Most of the hotels were sold out so I thought I was lucky to find a room here for $250 a night. You know you're in trouble when the crappy hotels are charging $4-500 a night so Hampton Inn at 250 is a bargain. Not my hotel of choice but it was a necessity because my son had a meeting Friday at 8am. The hotel is located downtown, walking distance to plenty of restaurants. It has valet parking for $30 a day. You can try to park on the street, 2 hours free from 8-5 and chances are you won't find a spot for overnight. Just plan on the additional $30. When you enter the lobby is clean. I had checked in on the app so I bypassed the front desk. I wasn't expecting much and had no expectations. A clean room with a working shower was my only thought and even that wasn't fulfilled. The room was very dark and in need of a refurb. Upon first glance it looked ok. The air was set to 64 so the room was cold I turned it up to 67. In the middle of the night the room was musty. We were all up and just skeeved out. I try never to stay in a hotel with carpet but again no choice. In the morning I walked to the bathroom and my socks were wet. They must have cleaned the carpets before we arrived and the carpet was still wet hence the musty damp room. My son took a shower and the tub wouldn't drain. I went downstairs and was told an engineer would be at the hotel at 8:30 to look at it. Good thing I didn't need to be anywhere. The room included breakfast. There was no way I would eat at this hotel, but I did go grab a coffee and the area was clean and maintained. The gym was surprisingly clean too and it had a peloton. So public areas are clean.... rooms need some work ... maybe housekeeping should wipe down the chrome in the bathroom and polish the wood. But then again, they don't have to because it's a captive audience. Between the room and parking I dropped just under $300, checked my sleep app and got an 8 out of 100 for the night and now I know, if I ever have to do this again, I know where I will never stay again.

I booked this hotel for my graduation weekend. It is kind a expensive. Nice, clean, and spacious rooms. It was recently renovated. Great downtown location. Beautiful views of downtown Gainesville from the windows. One problem is that they don’t have parking, and parking is not free in the garage. They do have valet service if you prefer that. Expect to pay $20 a day for parking in the garage next to the hotel. Every other hotel in Gainesville has free parking, so I would recommend other hotels because of that. We had two cars and it was a nuisance to park in the garage, walk about 10 minutes through downtown Gainesville, outside. Every time we needed something from the cars, it would take us 10 minutes there and another 10 minutes back. Not ideal. Parking in Gainesville downtown is free on the weekends but it is paid on weekdays.Rooms: Large, clean, comfortable rooms.Nearby activities: There is the Hippodrome theater just across the street. You can go and see great shows there.Walkability: It’s located downtown where all the restaurants are and the theater. You can walk everywhere.Food & drinks: Lots of great restaurants near by the hotel.
