I've been in probably 10 times for a cut with Laura Jupin and its always a great haircut and nice conversation. Parking is always available and you are downtown which I enjoy too.

I had heard mixed reviews of Dale's Salon. I was planning on making an appointment with them for my next haircut.

Sica is amazing. She gives her honest opinion- you know that's hard to come by! I'd recommend her to anyone :)

Today, I stopped in to ask about the price of a haircut: $45 for a long-hair, no layers cut. This is more than superior Gainesville salons: Mode, Strand, Scissors, and the Tease. When I inquired about the high price, the owner got extremely *offended* (her word) and proceeded to give me a lecture, which she called an important life lesson for a college student. She told me I offended her by discussing the price being high for the cut and that she felt I demeaned her blue collar occupation. She did it for herself. As a 33-year old PhD student with over 10 years of work experience and someone who has paid their entire way through college and worked at small Gainesville family-owned businesses for over 10 years, she really made inappropriate and incorrect judgements out of her personal insecurities about her profession. She will never get my business nor would I recommend this salon based on abhorrent treatment of potential "young" looking "college" customers. In fact, I have a deep appreciation for hair dressers as my grandmother owned her own salon in the 50's and it was an important source of income for her young family. I pay around 35-40 for a hair cut at salons around time: they earn their high price. Rather than describing the amenities and services with her fee, she just got defensive and lost 100% of the potential income. Poor business acumen.
