Salt Springs Recreation Area is a well-maintained campground offering large sites with full hookups, making it ideal for RV and tent camping. The park features several hiking trails, fishing opportunities, and swimming in the clear springs, which are especially peaceful in winter with only a few swimmers. The springs have pretty water and are home to many fish and blue crabs, although seeing manatees is difficult without a boat or kayak. The campground is shaded by many trees, providing a calm and relaxing environment, and there are picnic tables and grills near the springs. The park is friendly for dogs, allowing them everywhere except in the springs. The washrooms are very clean, but the facilities have some issues, such as open windows and fans running constantly even in cold weather, which can make showers uncomfortable and increase utility costs. Campers noted the proximity to the highway causes some road noise, but overall, the atmosphere remains peaceful. Campers also mentioned that the park can be busy with many visitors, and the staff are friendly. While the park is nice, some facilities such as sewage dumping are expensive, and there are no laundry facilities. Despite these drawbacks, Salt Springs Recreation Area offers a quiet, scenic spot to relax and enjoy nature.

Very clean facility ! Unfortunately they removed the dog park and the dogs can only swim on the boat dock. Very peaceful and quiet! Office staff are pleasant.

So much fun! The kids had a blast! We took them down an isolated pathw. Then they decided to go ahead of us adults with out permission.so we told them there was a gator up ahead. And we started heading back the other way. They screamed and screamed chasing us all the way back to the center🤣
