I recently purchased a Bernina from Once Upon a Quilt and I could not be more pleased with the customer service, professional staff and value. I purchased a floor model Bernina; they serviced and cleaned the machine and it looked brand new. They provided all of the accessories and optional parts as part of the package. It was an over the top experience. The owner, Lisa Stevens is responsive and very customer focused. I would highly recommend this quilting shop for the selection, customer service, friendly and knowledgeable staff. You will not be disappointed.

I made the drive from the other coast to attend OUAQs Annual Retreat and it was not only full of tips, trips and techniques, but the sense of community OUAQ has created is like no other. Come for the knowledge, bond over all things sewing, and return time and time again for the friendships gained.

2023 has been a challenging year for me so , in an effort to find some relief and inspiration, l booked my place at OUAQ’s 10th Annual Retreat. I was filled with excitement and joy at the mere anticipation of the weekend. Now it is over. I am left with a full heart, a mind teeming with inspiration, and a renewed spirit ready to return to reality and creativity. Each day brought its own delight: wonderful teachers, imaginative projects and a chance to work with state of the art machines and techniques. I am leaving refreshed, revived and inspired. Thank you for a warm, gernerous and transforming experience.

If you want a fun quilting experience Once upon a Quilt is the place. This is a store where everyone is experienced in quilting. What I love is the friendliness of the staff and their helpfulness. They want what you want which is success with your project. Then there is an amazing 3 day retreat the first weekend of December. This is so exciting. You meet the nationally recognized instructors who write the books that you sew from. For 3 days you get personalized instruction from the experts. The instructors give you great tips on how to do techniques better with more success. The other classes are amazing projects to do for fun or challenge. I love attending the classes at Once upon a Quilt. Lisa, the owner is a wonderful warm person who takes an interest in all who come to the store to be sure that you find what you need. Those who attend the classes regularly develop a family like atmosphere where everyone helps others when problems occur. I love Once upon a Quilt to learn more about sewing, quilting and having fun.

WOW!This was my first time to attend, the “Once Upon A Quilt” Annual Retreat. We drove from Texas, and the experience included a lovely two night stop over in New Orleans, and even a Florida speeding ticket. The retreat was an amazing three days of fun and variety. I can’t imagine how much effort, sleepless nights and headaches it must have taken to plan and construct such an offering.Thank you Lisa and your warm, friendly and helpful staff for providing such a flawless experience. It was so much more than I expected and definitely worth it.May I also thank the other attendees for being so welcoming and pleasant to a total stranger.Valerie McCoy

For those of you that are thinking of trying to quilt, what's holding you back? Can you sew a straight line? Whether you can or not, Lisa and her friendly staff have the experience, patience, and classes to teach you what you need to know, from piecing basics to complex ruler work and more. "Quilting is too hard," no, it just requires some patience, and if your project gets to be too large to quilt on your machine or by hand, Once Upon a Quilt can quilt it for you on their long arm machine. You're not going to find a better place to start and to continue to grow in your quilting hobby than at Once Up a Quilt.I just attended the Once Upon a Quilt 10th Annual Quilt retreat and it was a lot of fun over three days. It was great to connect with friends as well as make new ones. The projects were varied, and helped me learn more about sewing, machine embroidery and how to effectively use a serger. I'll be attending next year for sure.

A friend told me about Once Upon A Quilt’s annual retreat, but living out of state meant flying to Florida, getting a hotel, renting a car… I’ve attended dozens of sewing events but was promised this was like no other. Fine. I’m in.Fast forward to my arrival at the shop for my 3-day adventure in Ft Lauderdale. Holy smokes, Lisa’s store is incredible. The fabric selection is like no other quilt shop I’ve visited. The variety of fabric - from Tula to Tilda to Amanda Murphy, Moda and Kaffe Fassett… I went nuts!! I’m from California, where prices are high. I also travel to Dallas often, and Texas fabric is more reasonable. Lisa’s prices for fabric, however, are even lower for the exact same yardage! And as a Bernina owner, I can buy my bobbins, attachments, embroidery hoops, and digital patterns from her. I even negotiated a price on my dream machine - the 790 pro.Two other things before I stop gushing over this place: her classes and her team. The classes were amazing. I learned to do things with my serger I didn’t know I could do. I can’t wait to get home and start fancying up my hand towels and (spoiler alert) making more denim aprons with rolled red hems for everyone this Christmas. Lisa brings in the experts from Ohio to Australia and Chicago to Switzerland. Taking an embroidery class directly from the Aussie designer and Swiss digitizer was a once in a lifetime opportunity.Lastly, her team. This loyal group of people would do anything for Lisa. And vice versa. To see how helpful they are, how hard they work and how much knowledge they are happy to share with anyone and everyone was heart warming. These folks are like a family and I’ve never felt so warmly welcomed as I have these past three days.Thank you Lisa and team. You have created something magical and I will be back ❤️

The Once Upon A Quilt annual retreat is a must attend for anyone who enjoys making fun creative projects. There are three days in the retreat, and each day is its own new project and different skill. This year we had embroidery, surging, and appliqué. The best part about this retreat are the staff and all of the instructors. It doesn’t matter what kind of skill set you have, whether you’re a beginner, or an expert, and have been sewing for your whole life. They are able to work with your ability in a way that makes everyone feel valued and special. Two of the days are held at a hotel, and within a mile away is the quilt shop where the third day is held. Each day there is a complementary breakfast spread of bagels and coffee and they also provide lunch. I am gluten-free and I was able to work around the lunches with no problem. Parking is super easy at both venues. Another great benefit of the retreat is everyone you meet and all the networking. I’ve met new friends that I keep in touch with throughout the year and others I see just on the retreat! The event was well run and well priced. All of the machines we use are brand new with an added option to be able to buy them at a discounted price! You won’t find this anywhere. Lisa and her team make this event super fun with prizes, games, laughing, and camaraderie throughout the weekend. I would give it 10 stars if I could!

Just spent one of the best weekends ever!!! This was my first Once Upon a Quilt annual retreat and it was spectacular. This is their 10th year and from speaking to other participants/new best friends it only gets better year after year. I enjoyed and learned so much during the three different sessions, had a blast with the excellent teachers and fellow attendees. My daughters were so impressed with my Taylor Swift inspired friendship bracelet! (Thanks Jan!) Swifties have nothing on us!. CANNOT WAIT FOR NEXT YEAR!

I am attending my first Once Upon a Quilt Quilt Retreat, about to start my third day. What an incredible event this is! I arrived with my smile as suggested (no hunting for fabrics and notions to pack beforehand ) as everything else has been taken care of. Lunch is provided. The instructors and their helpers are so professional, the classes are very inspiring, and it is FUN!! We even played games at the end of the day yesterday, with unbelievably generous prizes. What a treat this has been. Lisa and her team deserve tremendous credit for providing such a professional and smoothly run retreat. I am so fortunate to have attended. I am coming back, for sure!
