October 2024 by Customer Review S.
Dr. Gonzalez showed a shocking lack of compassion and care for my pet. Rushed, cold, and unprofessional—definitely not someone I’d trust with animals. Would not recommend.

The staff at the reception desk are very friendly. You are greeted by either a receptionist or veterinarian technician when you enter Fort Lauderdale Veterinary Care. The receptionist or veterinarian technician will clearly demonstrate they are thoroughly capable of receiving you and your pet for whatever reason you are there. If you have an appointment, the staff will recognize your pet's name right away. If you do not have an appointment, the staff will register your pet quickly. The reason for my most recent visit to Fort Lauderdale Veterinary Care was to see if the doctor would agree to prescribe Chloe anti-anxiety medication, ahead of our cross-country trip four days later. After Dr. Gonzalez saw Chloe was in good health, he prescribed her 10 milligrams (about the weight of a grain of table salt) tablets to ease her journey from Miami International Airport to San Francisco International Airport. After I left the examination room, and returned to the receptionist desk, the veterinary technician chatted with me some more. She echoed Dr. Gonzalez’s recommendation that I should give Chloe half a dose of that medicine first to see how Chloe would react. But it very much behooves me to share here and now that the veterinarian technician halved for Chloe all five of the 10 milligram tablets and placed the halved pieces back into the medicine container. That thoroughness of care/concern is rare and unexpected! The veterinarian technician could have simply instructed me to halve the pills myself. I’ll be returning to Fort Lauderdale Veterinary Care again. The very next day I gave Chloe half a dose, to see how Chloe would react. I am happy to say Chloe reacted well to half a dose. On a follow up call with Dr Gonzalez, I was advised a full dose should do the trick to ease Chloe’s airplane trip. She rested soundly as you will see in the last image below.
The staff at Fort Lauderdale Veterinary Care never have me wait a long time. Soon after we were checked in, we sit in the waiting room, and almost immediately whisked away to an examination room. In the examination room, I rarely wait more than a few minutes before a veterinarian technician asks questions about Chloe. Soon Dr. Gonzalez will come into the examination room to speak with me, and a few minutes later Dr. Gonzalez will carry out a physical examination of Chloe. When Chloe needed her rabies shot – Dr. Gonzalez was kind enough to take Chloe to another room, and quickly returned with Chloe newly vaccinated against Rabies. Dr Gonzalez recognized I would be upset witnessing Chloe’s reaction to getting a jab. A visit to Fort Lauderdale Veterinary Care is made special by the bespoke design of the waiting room, the sincere (and sweet) care from the staff, and a clear respect for your busy schedule.

I received extraordinary care for my cats by Dr. Gonzalez for several years. The staff were knowledgeable, skilled, friendly and demonstrated care for my many critters that included follow up calls to check on their well-being post treatment. Dr. Gonzales consistently made himself available to care for my critters even when his schedule was full. When I eventually had to say goodbye to my elder feline Slinky, Dr. Gonzales was incredibly compassionate, and he handled my baby with tenderness and care all the way to the end. When I began taking care of young kittens that I encountered who were in need, Dr. Gonzalez opened up time in his busy schedule to evaluate the beauties to ensure they were well-enough to care for at home. This care truly turned into a "foster fail" and these kittens are growing into strong, healthy and happy cats. I attribute their good start to Dr. Gonzalez. I will always be grateful, and although I have recently moved to another city, his depth of knowledge and great care have become a template for what I expect other veterinary doctors to provide. My very best! Linda B.

My experience at Dr. Gonzalez's veterinary clinic was nothing short of a nightmare. From start to finish, it was a rollercoaster of incompetence, dishonesty, and outright hostility.
It all began when I called to schedule an appointment for my girlfriend's dog to receive flea medication. I explicitly stated that we only needed an examination and a prescription. The receptionist assured me that the total cost would be $79, which seemed reasonable. However, this was just the beginning of a series of blatant lies and deceit.
Upon arriving at the clinic, my girlfriend was ushered into a waiting room while I stayed outside. Dr. Gonzalez barely glanced at the dog's coat for less than five seconds before disappearing, promising to return with an estimate. What followed was a jaw-dropping revelation by a different receptionist that the examination and medication would cost a staggering $260, more than three times what we were quoted over the phone.
When we attempted to address this gross discrepancy, Dr. Gonzalez himself emerged, displaying an appalling lack of professionalism and integrity. Instead of acknowledging the mistake, he outright accused us of lying and threatened to fire the receptionist who had given us the initial quote. His behavior was beyond reprehensible, culminating in a threat to sue us if we dared to leave a negative review.
The audacity of Dr. Gonzalez's actions left us speechless and utterly disgusted. To be treated with such disrespect and contempt is unacceptable, especially from a supposed professional in the field of veterinary medicine. It is abundantly clear that Dr. Gonzalez prioritizes profits over the well-being of animals and their owners.
I refuse to be intimidated into silence by Dr. Gonzalez's baseless threats. I will not hesitate to warn others about the abysmal treatment they might encounter at this clinic. If Dr. Gonzalez wishes to take legal action against me for speaking the truth, then so be it. But I will not back down from exposing the despicable practices of this establishment.

I have been coming to this place for over 7 years, and the quality of service from the Vet has gone completely downhill. The overall experience at this Vet is a complete disappointment. The doc makes you feel like a complete stranger every time you speak to him, and sometimes I wonder why he's even a vet because he shows no passion for his work and makes you feel like your pet is just a paycheck to him.

PLEASE DO NOT GO , ITS NOT BUSY FOR A REASON . THE BLONDE CAT LADY IS THE WORST WHEN IT COMES TO EXAMINING YOUR PET . SHE WILL TELL YOU ANYTHING JUST FOR YOU TO SPEND MONEY. THIS PLACE IS A SCAM. I BROUGHT MY DOG SEVERAL TIMES AND THEY NEVER HAVE A LOGIC ANSWER. I DON’T KNOW WHETHER SHE JUST TREATS DOGS LIKE THAT JUST BECAUSE SHE’S A CAT LADY BUT THEY ARE A SCAM . Please listen to me when I say this I am never quick to write a bad review, but I’m trying to save people from coming in and spending their money and trying to help their pet and get no answer.

Today, I had a terrible experience with Dr. Javier Gonzalez. I work in restaurants and it has been a rough season financially. My dog Russo had his annual check up today. Before the visit I asked to take the heart worm pills off and the rabies tag, for I wanted to do it later when I am in a better position financially. The nurses were very nice and worked with me. When Dr. Gonzalez entered the room he was angry. He started asking me questions in a condescending voice. Throughout the visit he was very rude. This will be my last visit at Fort Lauderdale vet.

Dr. Gonzalez has been a well known Vet for our family pets, did multiple surgeries for multiple of our dogs. Around 30,000 thousand dollars later, we chose to refuse blood work for one of our older dogs. Just because of that Dr. Gonzalez requested we leave, Sure no problem! fast forward to today. We made an emergency visit for our dog, who has a giant hole in his leg from an abscess. On our way there we get a call stating Dr. Gonzalez refuses to see our dog because we refused blood work one time, when we needed a refill on an anti inflammatory for our dog.. I’m sorry, WHAT?! He couldn’t get a couple more hundred dollars from drawing labs ONE visit, he wants to refuse care? As someone in the medical field, I believe we have a right to refuse any lab we do not want done. Beauty of America am I right? I am sorry but when you take an oath to treat animals, you do your damn job. I’m sure this emergency visit would of made up for the money you would of made for that blood work. Dr. Gonzalez, I hope animal lovers like myself read this and take all of there animals to a Vet that is passionate, and loves there job because clearly all it is to you is a paycheck.
