Prompt Professional and Personable. How nice to deal with real people who cared enough to help us solve our issues. Once you find agents like this you hang on to them!

Called first week of October to get insurance on a house I purchased that week from a family member. Was told I had to wait till the property showed up in county records for them to provide insurance for the house. Well the house finally showed up on county records and so I called them today to go through with a quote to get insurance. They told me that there was a lapse in coverage on the house and they can no longer provide insurance on the house unless through citizens. They said what the employee told me was wrong but they can’t do anything about it.I shouldn’t have to double check if what an insurance agent is telling me is truth or not. Would not recommend AT ALL. I am now stuck with the only option as citizens for insurance or have to pay penalty fees through other companies for a lapse in coverage which I cannot afford. They would not do anything to fix the situation.Don’t have sales employees answering calls/questions if they have NO IDEA what they’re talking about.

For awareness, the companies "Clovered Insurance", "American Platinum Property and Casualty Insurance Company", and "Universal Property [and Casualty Insurance Company]" are all the same conglomerate private insurer. Be prepared for confusing communications, paperwork, login portal links, etc. as you may receive branded interactions from any one of these "companies" despite pursuing business with only one entity. Also prepare for slow customer service and atypical agent interactions. While the initially advertised rate/premium was quite competitve for Florida's erratic private insurance market, it was essentially a bait and switch. I independently priced premiums for my home (2) different ways with Clovered: (a) coverage if the home ultimately had hurricane clips installed for wind mitigation, (b) coverage if the home only had toe nails. There was roughly a $1,100 difference premiums, which is honestly expected. Given switching insurance providers in the state of FL typically requires the homeowner to purchase a 4-point Inspection and Wind Mitigration Inspection/Report, I went with best-case scenario for wind mitigation and paid a premium reflecting hurricane clips.Following the Wind Mitigation Report, which indicated only toe-nails were holding rafters to walls, I fully expected a ~$1,100 premium increase. Instead I received a $3880.97 increase, bringing a total annual premium to $6,675.21. When I reached out to inquire about the possible savings of retrofit clips vs. straps, I was told that both would bring my rate down to ~$5,700. This is classic bait and switch on premiums.Insurees beware, and pursue other options before you try to deal directly with this company. I would highly recommend consulting Florida Market Assistance Plan (FMAP) first, but brace yourself for a swarm of insurance agents reaching out!

Awful company. Jerked us around for month asking for documentation. They always needed more documentation, more inspections. Contacted another company and had everything in order within 3 days. I spent a month and a half with this awful company

On 5/16/23 got homeowner policy they collected full payment, policy was to start 6/25/2023, I cancelled policy 2 hrs later on 5/16/2023 even though the policy was not to start till 6/25/2023 they said no refund till 6/25/2023 then 15 days later for processing so they basically keep my money for 54-60 days They certainly will grab your money fast and certainly take their time giving it back things are tough enough then have to deal with this

Ashley from Clovered helped me deal with an issue with billing between my Mortgage Company and Clovered recently after my mortgage was sold and escrow payment went missed. She spent an HOUR on the phone with me and the mortgagee to settle the issue. She was friendly, helpful, and went WAY beyond what I expected. THIS IS CUSTOMER SERVICE FOLKS! A+++++

My father had a policy here for years. When he died, I called to report it and sent them the death certificate as requested. They said we need to change the policy into another name but never mentioned a deadline. When we called to have policy rewritten they informed us they had cancelled my fathers policy and that a new one has a 30 day wait period. I contacted the employee I had communicated with and she admitted that she made an error in failing to advise there was any deadline or waiting period issue. Despite this admission on a recorded line and Plus, my previous emails where I had advised them that changing the policy was no problem but we had to be sure that the policy didn’t lapse - this company did nothing. They cancelled the policy without notice leaving us uninsured and worse, we had no notice of the proposed cancellation. Unbelievable! We learned about the cancellation when we called to get the new policy. Fortunately, I learned this on a weekday during regular office hours and I found another company quickly with a better policy that was immediately effective. What a stressful afternoon it was ! Then yesterday I received an email announcing the cancellation as of five days prior .nothing made sense. Although I appreciate the honesty of the employee who advised me this was all her mistake, this company did nothing to find a temporary remedy. I would never recommend this company .

BEWARE. This is a company first, customer last organization. Clovered with UPAC is shifting their customers to a new policy with AP without any consent or information provided. We received a cleverly disguised policy transfer to AP in lieu of a renewal from UPAC. We never saw our UPAC renewal and will not be provided with one as we were told it was replaced by AP. It really skyrocketed our premium (4 year old roof, & we've never filed a single insurance claim ever). No matter how many calls & emails- we haven't been provided with any information that this policy actually matches to the penny what our renewal would have actually been with UPAC. Frank Duffin entirely stopped responding to us when we confronted him via email with request for all of our documents. Many hours spent on the phone trying to figure out what was going on, and all we did was run circles. We were only contacted by the VP- Shawn after filling complaints online & with the state. At this point we have escrow in limbo due to the policy scheduled to expire. We have no resolution & have been forced to shop. We are looking into legal action if we don't receive our escrow back in 7 days. Insurance agents have a fiduciary responsibility to their clients. You have a right to be informed as customers, and be involved in any policy changes (its the law), no broker has the right to just do this, and this company lost our business.

Hands Up! Anthony has such a great and caring personality, all while being very professional. He took his time explaining each and every nook and cranny of our policy. I would recommend him wholeheartedly. Thank you so much Anthony.

I completed the online quote and followed up with an agent, Chelsea, who bound the policy. After they received the $1391 payment they decided to take back the agreed terms and not include liability, requesting an additional $450 for the previously agreed on liability coverage. When I asked to then cancel the policy they informed me it would take 14 days to process plus another week or so to refund the funds for the cancelled policy, plus time for snail mailing a check.

I had a homeowners insurance policy for one year. I had ZERO claims and for the renewal they changed my payment from $1600 to $2400! $800 increase with zero claims? I called and cancelled my policy as I found a better deal with Progressive. However, my escrow company had already paid them for the new year. So it is now a month after cancelling and signing the edoc and I still haven’t received my refund. I called back today and they never filed my cancellation……..Well now my policy cancellation has FINALLY been filed. It’ll now take another 15 business to get my money back. (Even though it was their mistake) would appreciate my money back sooner as I already had to pay my new insurance company. Expensive policies and poor customer service. Would not recommend.

My current carrier issued a Notice of Cancellation to all Homeowner policies in my Naples area. I reached out to several insurance carriers and agents; surprisingly none replied to my inquiries. I checked on Clovered yesterday and called them, an actual person answered the phone, asked some questions and then transferred me to Asheley Coll. She was fast explaining everything I needed to do, asked me what she needed and luckily I had my 4 point inspection and wind mitigation inspection, she quickly reviewed them and applied the respective discounts, clearly explained my opinions and provided me a quote from Universal Insurance, in a matter of minutes. The policy was ready 24 hours later, I signed electronically and I am a happy customer. Thank you Asheley for your professionalism, empathy and for valuing the time of your customers! Younare a great asset for your company! Keep up the good work

Our experience in dealing with Asheley Coll regarding making changes to our Universal Home Owners Insurance Policy was very positive. Asheley was responsive, professional and was able to answer all our concerns and questions. We would highly recommend her services to anyone looking to understand their insurance and how it works. She was also very personable and patient with all the questions we presented to her.
