On vacation here in St. Augustine we found this local establishment and decided to try it. My wife had the shrimp and Grits, I had the Java bowl which is home fries, scrambled eggs, cheese, your choice of meat and then it's toped with sausage gravy. We also split the Kahula French toast. everything tasted fantastic! I did not taste any actual Kahula on the French toast but it was still good. The Mermosas was awesome as well. And who wouldn't enjoy sitting near the beach for an early morning brunch. All in all, a good choice!Wheelchair accessibility: There is a ramp for wheel chair access, but it goes in a zig-zag and has a pretty good slope to it.

We loved every thing about Java Joint.Smiling waitress...big hot coffee @ $2.50 + yummy omelette, 2 big slices of wheat toast and bowl of grits with butter at a great low price of $11.Fun colorful dining room. What's not to like?Is what I would have liked to say...but making us wait wait and wait probably 30 minutes plus for our order to arrive without at least coming to us to explain anything or offer a small snack while waiting as they were having a cook issue in the kitchen... was really bad inconsiderate service.

Amazing view of the beach. Spectacular staff, especially Lilly. And the food…BRO!!! Even if you don’t like grits you have to try these. Good gracious! The breakfast is delicious. This place is a regular for us every time we’re in the area.Ps-the wait to sit outside is worth it. But the decorations and art for sale inside is enchanting as well.

I'm going back today for breakfast.. it's the view.. food was good, prices are what you would expect to sit and watch the waves roll in while eating in the shade while our printing presses are working overtime to create inflation at a breakneck speed

After hearing a few mixed reviews, sometimes you just need to say screw it and give it a shot. Walked up to a very friendly staff member who greeted us quickly and were seated right away with both indoor and outdoor availability. We ate at about 1045am to 11ish. We had breakfast and it was at the table in under 15min. Amazing. Great start to the meal, hot drinks and food quick. I ordered the Eggs Benedict with home fries. As someone who enjoys a nice runny yoke it was cooked perfect for me. But if you like the whites of your eggs not to have any runny spots ask them to cook it just a bit longer. But again as someone who likes it that way, I was surprised as most places overcook them. The home fries could have been browned a bit longer for that nice crunchy outside but the flavor made up for it. Not often I clean a plate but should have grabbed a photo. Delicious. Thank you for a great meal and glad we didn't listen to the negative reviews.Parking: Roadside parking, side of building and behind building paved spots.

This place used to be good. Keep trying to give this place a shot but the food is not good and the portions are TINY.

We have eaten here for many winters and have always had excellent service and food. On this visit, the servers were kind, but it took forever to get a cup of coffee and ditto for a refill later on. My breakfast burrito’s quality was far below what I have experienced in the past, and my husband’s eggs benedict had barely cooked eggs. The eggs looked disgusting, and he only ate the cooked parts but the runny parts(white included) got on everything. We aren’t used to dogs in restaurants, but the tables on either side of us both had very large dogs. We watched numerous people awkwardly step over one large dog lying across the aisle. It’s a beautiful sunny location on the ocean, but sadly, we won’t be back.

My family and I just visited this restaurant. My sister found it and based on great food reviews we decided to give it a try. Unfortunately yall, we waited about 45 minutes for our order. I will add that when we arrived it was really busy which made us all the more excitedbecausewe figured the food must be good! . After about 15 minutes it was MUCH calmer- its like the room emptied out so we figured our food would be arriving sooner than later. You know how when you visit a restaurant and it's so busy- so you figure your food will be late. Well this was NOT this experience. As I said, it calmed down BUT we waited an additional 30 minutes!! There were people who came in after us and received their meals!! To add insult to injury, our waitresses just disappeared on us. She wasn't regularly checking in- so we were just left sitting. We beckoned other waitresses as we waited to please check on our food. The experience was awful. My husband finally turned around and found a gentleman waiter and to complain to him about our wait. The waiter said, they had already compensated our meals and were very apologetic. When this final conversation took place...half of the meals were finally delivered. My father in-law ordered just grits and eggs with toast but only had grits delivered after a 45 minute wait!! My mother in-law ordered a chicken salad sandwich and at the end of the 45 minute wait when they brought out half of the orders she was THEN informed there was no more chicken salad to make her sandwich. WOW!!! This is the picture that I included that shows half of the meals delivered. Plus, we only found out the meal was compensated by calling over a waiter. No one came to the table formally to apologize!!! Unreal. Anyways, we still tipped because our family believes in and values service jobs. It's just truly unfortunate when the experience is as such.

The peppermint hot chocolate was the best I ever had. It was creamy, perfect temperature, with homemade whipped cream. Very sweet, but YUMMY. The eggs bene had a little spice but still good. (Not crazy about spice). I would definitely come back again and again!Vegetarian options: My husband substituted beans in his meal because he is a vegetarian.
