We are down in our family vacation home for the week. I needed a new bathing suit so stopped in here today to buy one. I am in my 50’s, 5’6” and 138 lbs. My body could use some toning up I am sure, but is definitely better than most my age. However, I felt humiliated by my experience visiting this store today. My 10 year old, unbeknownst to me, apparently recruited the help of the sales person as the bathing suits were not readily apparent. This sales person proceeded to then try to show us bathing suits. As she was looking, she said I assume you want a tankini. Ok. Probably true that this would be my suit of choice as my stomach is not as toned as it was 20 years ago and before childbirth. Didn’t feel good, but probably correct. However, as the sales person proceeds to point out some tankini tops, she comments “oh but this has a bikini bottom…maybe if you found a different bottom, something more conservative….” Huh!?! Yes I have been wearing tankini tops for the past few years…with bikini bottoms as I am pretty small on the bottom. Honestly, it was humiliating to have it suggested in front of my ten year old that I need something more conservative than a bikini bottom when I have been wearing them every summer! I subsequently went to the Omni pool that afternoon where I saw many people both older and more out of shape than I wearing things I would never consider wearing. I found it very insulting and degrading to be told by a sales representative what I want to wear to feel comfortable. I did find a suit I liked, a tankini top and bikini bottom, but honestly was so annoyed by the presumptiveness and comments of the sales person, that I left without purchasing it. Despite having bought my favorite suit I own a few years ago here, I would ll never go here again as it was an unnecessary humiliating experience that I hope to ever have again

8/29/22 I was here the same day as Dianne and saw her stumbling around the store like she was on drugs. She was definitely about to shop lift or worse.

*OMNI member who visits multiple times per year* Walked in this overpriced establishment Monday 8/29/2022 around 1:00 PM. No other customers inside & the man working didn’t say ONE word to us. Just followed us around to make sure we weren’t stealing I guess? Idk if it was bc of our age/race, but this guy was the opposite of friendly. It was extremely awkward! Even though the prices are high, we found something we really loved & wanted to purchase, but because of how we were treated we left.

I had my zipper break right before an event and was frantic trying to find another dress when Ruth offered to pin the back of my dress. Ruth went way above and beyond and was such a sweetheart. Didn’t try to sell me anything and just focused on helping me. From the bottom of my heart, thank you Ruth.
