Avoid Devito’s for car repair!
My daughter’s car has been there several times now over the last few months, for multiple repairs due to one thing or another going wrong with the engine’s cooling system…..spending over $1700. The last time only being a month or so ago.
Each time, they had to keep the car for several days, which made things difficult on our family…getting my 6yo grandson to school and home is not easy. Yes, They have live with us, due to the horrible economy and inflation, that ‘you know who’ has put us all in. But I don’t want to talk about that, I want to try and warn you, not to go to DeVito’s anymore.
Shady. Unprofessional. Rude. Uncaring. Non-responsive. Extremely poor (or basically no) communication.
A month ago, maybe less, the car was there for a whole week, and we spent like $1000. All for repair to the engine cooling system. Wednesday while taking my grandson to St Pete for a dentist appt., the AC stopped blowing cold. So on the way back, they dropped it off at DeVitos. After two days waiting on an estimate, I finally had enough. So I took my son in law down there to just get the car and take it somewhere else. Oh boy, they didn’t like that! So they charged us $145.00! Basically to look at the car for 5 minutes, and tell us that the AC compressor clutch was out. $145.00! They said they were having problems getting the clutch without replacing the whole compressor, which is why it was taking so long. Anyone somewhat knowledgable, would know that that would be a bad idea and would most likely necessitate a return trip for more repairs, as the compressor would most likely have been damaged when the clutch froze, and the compressor would need replacement.…. hmm, is there a pattern here? ?
Maybe it’s all coincidence, I don’t know. But we took it to P & T auto repair Friday and they’ll have it fixed on Monday. I took my wife’s car there for a VERY difficult to diagnose problem, and they figured it out and fixed it in 2 days. No diagnostic fee.
For DeVitos to charge us $145….for basically nothing…after all the times the car was there for repair, and all the money previously spent there on this same car, and for more cooling system issues, I feel is just not right.
Shame on you DeVitos. In these tough economic times, to treat customers like this, especially returning customers. Shame on you. Karma is real. I hope it comes back to haunt you.

I dropped my vehicle off after hours. I left a note explaining what I wanted them to check. They called me the next morning to verify everything I wanted to check. They called me again during the day to ask a few more questions. Then they called at the end of the day to let me know they’re not able to fix my car And I had no one to refer me to. When I picked up my car today, they referred me to another shop, stating I needed to replace my engine in their opinion. I knew would have to pay something, but I guess it was more than I expected to pay.

Made an appointment for my vehicle, new to Florida. Got a call saying I needed two batteries for my car for a total of 800.00. I told them to go ahead and do it but with AC DELCO batteries. Then I politely asked for a breakdown of the bill and if I could get away with doing just the main battery and wait on the start/ stop one. They said I needed to do both. I then said ok go ahead. Then I got a call saying they can get me ONE AC DELCO BATTERY AND ONE AUTO ZONE BATTERY( which is a cheaper battery), but it would still be the same price. I then said I’d rather TWO AC DELCO Especially if your still charging me the same price. They then said come pick up your car and WE WILL CUT TIES WITH YOU!!!!!!. The next customer asked for a print out of his ALIGNMENT, they said we don’t give those out!!!! LESSON HERE , your not allowed to ask questions retaining how they spend your money or they WONT REPAIR YOUR CAR!!! BRING IT TO A REPUTABLE PLACE. They are RUDEService: General repairs & maintenance

Sold me a tire with a slow leak and then when I got a different new tire from them it went flat the next day. Do NOT recommend if you have options! You are almost guaranteed to be back within the week with problems!Service: Tires

Very honest repair facility. Had a fuel leak in my truck. I thought it was a fuel pump issue. They informed me that a rodent had eaten through a fuel line. The repair was cheaper than I expected, and the turnaround time was fast. Highly recommend this facility.
