Absolutely lovely restored historic home! The historical society has done a wonderful job at making this place feel like a time capsule. $10 entry per person for a guided tour at 12:30, there is also another at 2:30. It's not possible to walk through the home on your own which is just fine because our tour guide Margot was great and very knowledgeable about the home and the family that lived there! So happy this place is open again.

Recently reopened after a several year renovation, it was a treat to tour.
The grounds consist of the Deland House and a West Volusia Historical Center.
The center houses artifacts, geneological reference material, books and books of photos plus a small gift section.
As it turned out the docent was a no show but the exec director handled the tour.
Many interesting facts about the area and the home.
Nice detour befor heading to lunch.
Oh, there is ample parking and a little free library in the parking lot.

My husband and I are relocating to DeLand from south Florida. We decided to stop in to learn more about DeLand. Although the museum was not open due to renovations being done, the volunteers in the office/bookstore took time with us to tell us about DeLand's rich history. They took their time engaging with us. They never made us feel like we were intruding on their time. We felt very welcomed to the town. We have fallen in love with DeLand and the people of that city. We are looking forward to making DeLand our home town.

It is closed for about another year to restore. Would like to have known that on the website. The civic center that is next door, had a lot of good information, though.

Unfortunately it was closed for tours today but the folks there were very friendly and informative as to what there was to see and possibly do in the area. We will definitely be back.

Went on the monthly bus tour. Saw some beautiful homes I did not know were in Deland. We also stopped at the museum in Lake Helen and saw some of the historic houses. Finally had lunch at Sinatra's heard some of the history of Cassadaga and had some time to explore.

The West Volusia Historical Society is a wonderful place that is preserving the history of DeLand and other local cities or towns. Currently they are open exclusively for research so I would recommend that you contact them first before visiting. Their executive director is extremely kind and helpful.
As far as I know all tours of the Henry DeLand house are temporarily suspended but they are being supplemented by monthly "Parlour Chats" that are currently being facilitated by Facebook Live. Be sure to check those out! You can also watch videos of past chats on the Historical Society's Facebook page.

Such a quaint place filled with local history. The passion of those who are involved with keeping the factual history alive is very appreciated. The History Seekers program for children and children of heart is an inspiration to all that attend.

I enjoyed my visit to to the historical home named after the first owner. It has a rich interesting history and some unique features to the home. I highly recommend a visit especially if you enjoy history or architecture and design.

Beautifully preserved Historic Site. Fascinating display of period pieces, all donated. Would recommend to anyone with an interest in old Florida.
