Back in 2022, I turned 18 and decided to join ymca and thought I’d finally be able to learn how to swim with their swimming classes. To my surprise I was given a sorry excuse for an instructor who was as old as I was. I’m not exaggerating when I say this, every time I would notice and point out any flawed parts of my form and ask about them she would then repeat exactly what I said and gave absolutely instructions on how to improve. I realized I t was a mistake buying four lessons after how bad that one went.

Why on earth is the outdoor pool closed for half the year? You're in Florida! I live in a town in North Carolina that has five outdoor heated pools that are open in the winter- including three YMCA pools. IF they can do this in North Carolina, surely the Deland YMCA can do this.

Started using gym here after my cardinal rehab.nice place, like the layout.good air conditioning and friendly staff.the only thing I don't like is when people hog the workout equipment by sitting on it for 5 to 10 minutes at a time on there phone between reps keeping others from continueing their workout instead of moving on and coming back when their ready.lots of people do it and there's no cosideration for others.i thought it was the younger just the ones but the older folks do it worse.i would hope that the staff would stop this behavior its very annoying

Never been able to play basketball, but they have 3 BASKETBALL COURTS!!? They use them for everything but basketball. I’ve been paying for my membership for years just for that, but they’d rather use the space for their storage and random activities. Every time I come, I’m never able to play. And they have been telling me they’re renovating the courts for months and months, but all they’ve done is store materials on the courts. They need to get their stuff together! What a great organization :) Definitely don’t waste your time here if you would actually like to play basketball.

If you just want to go work out, go somewhere else. This place is a social club for AARP and they will sit on a machine socializing for 20 mins with doing a rep. The staff there is aware of this but does nothing. Go to Planet fitness.

After trying almost every gym in the area since moving to Florida, the Y is by far the best. Clean, organized and plenty of equipment for my programming. Looking forward to the renovation for the locker rooms, every establishment has room for improvement and the Y seems to continue to strive for the best result every time.

Y’all should be embarrassed by the state of your showers/facilities. Disgusting!!I feel like they are pre 80’s when nobody cared about hygiene or safety…

The staff is friendly, and they have great programs for swimming, kids exercise, sports, etc.The many pieces of out of order equipment, and the women's locker room though, are completely unacceptable! There's rarely soap in the bathrooms, the toilets don't have doors, rather than tension rods with short shower curtains to "conceal" you. It looks like it has not been cleaned in a year or more. I truly do not understand how it can be this run down! Some other members were telling me that their group of over a dozen submitted letters about this and were told "make a donation and maybe we will fix it. " their team had donated $10k at some point and nothing has been changed.
