I had rescued 2 newborns, their mother had been hit by car, and they took them in no problem.

Disgusting place. Need better management. Every animal is sick for the most part and they lie about the condition of pet. Beware

Terrible and unethical practices. They did not follow their adoption hours and allowed an adoption between the time I called right before closing and the time they opened for adoptions the NEXT day. We drove 3 hours round trip from Orlando. We arrived to the shelter at 11am and we waited an hour until they opened at noon for adoptions. This dog was adopted at 10:30am. Spoke to management who tried to get us to adopt another dog even though we went specifically for her! We did so much research about her breed, etc.
When you open your heart up to adopting again after a loss of a dog, this was an extremely disappointing thing to have happened. Very disheartening and very hurtful! If I could give zero stars, I would!

Awful experience for those that follow their posted hours. The shelter's manager let someone come in while closed to adopt a dog we had shown interest in. We called right before closing the night before to check her availability and they told us that she'd be available in the morning when they opened. We drove 1.5 hours, I took the day off from work, and we were the first ones in at opening only to be told that she was already adopted even though they were closed. This is not ethical.

We adopted Pom Pom about a month ago. She is a blessing because last week we had to let our 17 year old cat cross the rainbow ? bridge ?. Now we get to love her. She has been to our vet and received all vaccines and is on preventative medicine. We had a great experience at Halifax Humane Society and we will definitely adopt from them again
