I drove up to Florida on a 17 hour car ride and had multiple bad experiences with car rental companies. On my way home from Florida, my boyfriend and I noticed when we got 30 minutes into our ride that the wheel was turning right in the car that we got at fort lauderdale airport even when we weren’t touching it and there was something wrong with the alignment. Also, you had to floor the break to get the car to fully stop. we stopped at multiple budget/avis trying to exchange the car and had no luck due to them not doing exchanges or no cars were available. We were scared to drive the car we had home in these conditions. We pulled up to this location at around 4:55 and Merqui greeted us with a friendly smile and helped us even though the store was closing soon. She was kind, understand, and quick. She was able to help us out no problem and even found out the car we were given at fort lauderdale airport needed an oil change as well. She gave us the best customer service we have ever experienced in the state of Florida and we are so grateful for her amazing help!

Had a tire blowout on the highway hundreds of miles from where I was going. Customer service rep gave me this address to get to to and the people here were super nice and helpful. Ended up switching cars and being on my way again in minutes. Good people, good service. What more can you ask for?

Reserved car at 8am. Place opens at 8. No one there. A guy, bictor, come strolling it at quarter after telling myself and others waiting that he cant open for another ten min and locked the door behind him. Comes back out and says his system is down and he cant do anything, that we could try the one at the airport. Called them, my reservation went up $100 plus dollars. My wasted time. Get it together budget. You should of honored my reservation no matter what location i pick up at! Enterprise is just a few blocks down, i suggest going there.

Victor, when we dropped our hire car off in Daytona, was our best experience with Budget. He was knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. He is the reason for the 4 stars. The women at the Charleston pick up office were quite the opposite- no help at all and dismissive. (Would have given 1 star for them) We booked a Jetta or similar. Unfortunately we got the similar, a Nissan Ultima. The engine was good and the fuel economy good but I will never drive one again. Was the most uncomfortable car both of us have driven, even gave us back and stomach issues - a terrible car, would have been better hiring an old bomb for the 1,300 miles we drove. Nissan- no way

Made 8 an appointment to rent car. Arrived at 745am. At 758am worker shows up and says I don’t know why I have 4 people waiting here there are no reservations? I told him I had one and he said I will open in ten minutes. Rented a car and it reeked of Marijuana, stains all over car and gas was slightly under full. Later drove 15 minutes to my home and tire pressure light came on. Immediately called and was told it’s a one day rental. It will be fine. I had to pump up tire only for it to go down again. Returned car within 6 hours and was rudely met again telling me to get mileage on car. Called customer service and found out he charged me a fuel fee and we filled the car completely up. This guy Victor claims to be owner of business. If he is the owner the franchise should be taken!!

This place cannot honor their reservation commitments. I had reserved a small SUV 2 days prior for a 10 am pickup. If he didn't have the car on the lot at 10 am, he could've had the professional courtesy to call and let me know so I could've made other arrangements. He knew he was in the wrong but got beligerant. Worst customer serviceever!

SAME! Would not accept my metal VISA secured credit card or my debit card because it said Chime on it. THEN when I circled back and had my boss (I was on a business trip) try to discuss options he was rude and at the end said he had “no cars available”; which he never mentioned to me and we could both tell it was an absolute lie by the tone of his voice.

Avoid. Forced up-sell because they didn't have the vehicle class we reserved. Then the vehicle we did get smelled badly of cigarettes (in the Florida heat). AVOID

I wish I could leave 0 stars!If you're desperate enough to have to go to this place.... just don't.They don't give a receipt and will charge your card with fees not explained.And don't accept the "mystery" car.

Beware they will take your Deposit and say your insurance won’t cover their trucks so you think you are going to get a deposit back and never do !!!! The truck did not have no ac and it was not worth it !!!! Do your self a favor and go use u-Hal the trucks are better and they take care of them and the staff had a really nasty attitude!!!! And he lied and said he made me call my insurance in his office I want to see video of this liar ?not once did I pick up my phone in that office this is just sad !!!

Trust me when I say stay away from this shady place.They will charge your credit card without your permission.The guy Victor who works there is so unpleasant -he is extremely nasty the whole place is shady and dirty.

When you call budget rentals it says this place takes debit cards. They don't. He wouldn't even scan my card. I had ubered to this location to pick up my rental. The guy refused to take my debit, said he was private owner, he refused to talk to the service representative I had on phone with avis/budget. I had a baby with me that I need to change he told me the bathroom was not working properly but later after I had changed her outside on the pavement.he told someone that I could have used the bathroom. I was stuck outside in 87 degree weather with a baby. And then he threatened to call the cops on me. I am 4'11 and 90 lbs. I was not a threat. All I wanted was for him to honor my reservation so I could feed, change and get this baby out of the heat. I have never been this badly treated anywhere in my life. And I normally never give badly in my life. And I never had a company put my baby at risk of heat stroke before. Avis and Budget really have to put out the right information before sending women and there children to locations in 90 degree, heat with no bathroom use, no water, etc. This is a huge liability for Avis and Budget. If my baby had gotten heat stroke how awful would that be. Just be honest to your customers before you put them in bad situations. The worse part is how little the Avis Owner cared about stranded me and the child there. Completely horrific. I recommend never to go to this location here on Mason ave in Daytona. Never. He is unfriendly and does not care about the safety and wellbeing of a baby. And I recommend never to go to Avis and Budget either. Their representatives on the phone don't care either. And hung up me. The worse ever. If I could give zero stars I would. Also fyi, this location doesn't seem to be in a safe location, it was kind of a sketchy location. Buyer Beware!

Vick was unprofessional naming individuals he had previous dealings and experiences with. I felt stereotyped at this location. Was charged a late fee for being 9 minutes late. Contacted associate once I received receipt via email to dispute late fee charge and was told, “there’s no grace period to return cars late.” His response was incorrect and against Budget’s policy because in actuality late fees isn’t accumulated within 20 minutes of return period. I had to contact corporate to have charge removed. Once I spoke with corporate it was communicated that Vick returned car in system 50 minutes after I left location. Budget customer service was great but I dislike when individuals such as Vick take advantage of others especially a particular race.
