Great Free museum for families and kids in Space coast Florida. Great variety of interesting things to see, but playroom. Clean restroom and plenty of parking. They have a huge hiking trails to check out! We loved the scavenger hunt and unique 3D glasses from 18 or 19 the century! Also shell collection is beautiful. Great friendly people are working there, it’s a great place to learn about the history of Florida!

Absolutely amazing. It is a small museum with a big heart. I was amazed at how much they put in a small space. It took us about 1.5 to 2 hrs get through it all. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable. The bathrooms were clean. They have fun things to do like a scavenger hunt and I spy. All in all it was well worth the drive to see it. We will definitely be going back. It is all free. You can, and should, give a donation to this wonderful little gem of a museum.

I’m surprised there’s not more reviews for this extremely enjoyable museum. Not only do they have fascinating displays, they have a children’s play area and nature trails.
My personal favorite was the room dedicated to the Windover excavation. This is the only museum in the world with a dedicated exhibition on this amazing archeological find.
If you’re in the area, I’d definitely recommend stopping by. It’s also free!

The museum was fantastic. Ben and Greg are very knowledgeable, and they made us both feel right at home. The museum has so much to see. My 8 year old neighbor went with me, and she absolutely loved it. We highly recommend the Brevard Museum of History if you want to learn about the history of Brevard County. We are going back this Saturday for the train show!

Ben (I believe that was his name, sorry if I got it wrong; the older gentleman who was working the front desk) was amazing and very passionate about all of the exhibits, spent a solid hour walking us through and explaining everything to us. I had a better experience here than I did at most other museums, and it's FREE! Can't recommend this enough. If you're a Brevard resident or just visiting the area you HAVE to visit. There's something here for all ages. Will be coming back when I have more time.

It is a very nice museum dedicated to Brevard’s historyThe Brevard Museum of History and Natural Science requires you to drive through the edge of a subdivision to get to this site. It has a large parking lot and a fence to separate the lot, building, and trails from the surrounding neighborhood. They have a website and a Facebook page but neither of these do them justice. According to their website, they are, “Home of the Johnnie Johnson nature trails which provide a network of both improved and unimproved hiking trails connected to both Travis Park and the Brevard Museum.” The museum is inside a building that has meeting space, and several exhibit rooms with displays related to Florida and Brevard County's natural history. The building is located on 3.23 acres and has the trails listed above. They have a children's playroom, 2 large full dinosaur models to the left as you enter the building, an Indian display to the immediate right, and an entire wing devoted to the Space program and the Windover Excavation to the far right. The museum may be a little dated but it has wonderful volunteers who are friendly and very knowledgeable. It is free, clean, and has a lot of great information and artifacts about our area. We did not get a chance to try any of the trails but plan to visit another time to see more. They have a scavenger hunt that we read about and saw several people trying to complete while we were there. Overall, it was a very pleasant visit and an experience that I recommend for any visitors.

Neat, free museum about Florida history in Brevard County. We especially enjoyed the immersive experiences for children with my girls being able to drive the trains, science play area, and scavenger hunt.Really enjoyed the nature walk that branches off of the butterfly exhibit with another entrance/exit by the parking lot. We saw a bunch of butterflies during our walk. No tortoises this time, but they are around.Staff were nice and informative about the exhibits as they were available throughout. For the most part it was self-exploration.

Wow! Why did I wait so long to visit? After a early morning walk on the trails behind the museum we came in with minimal expectations and were thrilled with the experience. Open only Thursday through Saturday this history and science museum is free of charge. We chose to participate in a scavenger hunt which really kept us busy and checking out every detail of the displays. There is a prehistoric room, hands on discovery room for kids, information about the area, sea life, prominent business from frontier days. A nice area with examples of clothing and tools from the different area native people, a room dedicated to space exploration and my personal favorite an area detailing the Windows Archeological Dig from 1984, this is especially interesting since I live not far from this site. There was also a nice butterfly garden. I look forward to coming back especially with visitors and young people. The volunteer staff were all very friendly and knowledgeable.

The Brevard Museum of History in Cocoa FL is an amazing find. It is tucked away within a quiet neighborhood, and it offers an surprising array of intriguing artifacts that span the Prehistoric Era to the Space Age. It is the home of the Windover Archeological site, which is a Middle Archaic archaeological site and a National Historic Landmark. The Brevard Museum also manages the Johnnie Johnson Walking Trail at Clearwater, a paved trail that exposes 3 ecosystems and warns of potential alligators, coyotes, and snakes. The amount of information and the array of artifacts could take hours, if not a full day, to go through. Great for adults and kids; highly recommended.
