Never in my life have I had to stay in hospital for myself more than a couple of hrs. Well this time (long story short) I was admitted for 5 days ? and not happy along with being in pain. I did my best to keep a pos attitude. Fortunately everyone I encountered from staff in the ER to the staff in observation, X-ray, Ultra-sound, Dr's and medical personnel made me feel comfortable and confident I was in good hands. WOULD NOT want to be admitted to a hospital again but if I did South Lake Hospital would be my choice. Also my daughter just delivered twins a month prior and she was pleased at how attentive they were as were we.

My experience doing a Total Knee Surgery at South Lake Hospital was outstanding. From my entry in the hospital to the prep for the surgery. The nurses were courteous and professional. The post op stay was also exceptional. All the nurses and staff were friendly, courteous and professional.I felt very comfortable and well taken care of during my one day post op stay.

I recently had to visit the hospital's emergency department during my time as a tourist in the area, and I can't praise the experience enough. From the moment I arrived, the entire team of nurses and doctors displayed an exceptional level of professionalism and compassion, which was especially surprising as I am not a U.S. citizen. The nurses went above and beyond to ensure my comfort and well-being, providing me with the necessary information and support throughout my stay. Their friendly demeanor and willingness to address my concerns were a comfort during a stressful time.Equally impressive were the doctors, who took the time to explain the procedures and treatment options to me clearly, despite my unfamiliarity with the healthcare system in the U.S. Their expertise and compassionate approach truly made a difference.

Placed in overflow because the hospital is so full. Bed is ancient and creaking loudly when you move the head. Call bell does not work. Told to just yell out, but I have a very soft voice. Day crews are great. Night crews are rude and inattentive. Menu is severely limited for those on a cardiac diet. Come on, South Lake, you are better than this. -

The hospital staff were fantastic! There were too many kind, energetic, & caring nurses names to mention. Which is a great thing! They made us feel at home. This hospital should cherish these associates.

So, my wife and I walked into the ER around 4:30pm because she was experiencing strong cramps in her lower abdominal area. We just found out she was pregnant about a week ago. To make a long story short; it’s been over 4 hrs later and we’re still waiting. After expressing my concern to the front desk about my wife’s pain getting worse, she tells me they are tending to more serious matters. Really?? I can’t believe the service I’m receiving here at South Lake. Please, save yourself the trip and go to a different hospital that’ll actually take care of you. South Lake clearly has different priorities. Hope this helps someone else.

This review is exclusively for the labor and delivery and postpartum floor . I can’t begin to express how grateful I am for the staff I came across during my recent L&D and postpartum experience. From check in I had nurse Missy and Rachel at L&D that did absolutely everything they could to make sure I was well taken care of even though I was struggling significantly and scared out of my mind. There was also nurse Brooke the night that I delivered my baby who must have been in that room every 15 minutes adjusting my toco monitor because I was in so much pain I couldn’t stay still and she never made me feel like a burden . And finally in recovery upstairs I came across two of the most amazing , caring , and genuinely lovely nurses I’ve ever met . Nurse Kelly and Nurse Kathy . I had so many questions and worries as a first time mom and they made me feel heard and understood. I am so glad I chose to give birth at this hospital.

Just delivered my son here and I will gladly drive here no matter how far we are. I cannot speak more highly of the staff I encountered during my labor/delivery/postpartum experience. Not only do they make sure you are taken care of but you can tell they work as a team and do it so well. It truly made all the difference. Communication was top notch even in between shift changes. My level of care never wavered during my 3 day stay. Highly recommend!!

I must say my experience at Orlando Hospital was inconsistent. On the one side most nurses and orderlies were friendly, caring and professional. On the other side there seems to be some significant lack in communication. I went in through emergency with some abdominal pain. The staff there were great. The emergency nurse (Michele) had started an IV, caught me on the first try which was wonderful since I can be a start stick. The doctor decided that I needed gallbladder surgery and I was admitted. Admittance went fairly smooth. Next day I went into surgery. I must say the place was noisy and the nurses seemed more interested in some social chatting than on what they were doing. Surgery went well and I was transferred to my room. There when the nurse went to connect an antibiotic she found my IV port had closed because it was not flushed in surgery room. So they had to find another vein. FOUR unsuccessful attempts later they had to call in the big guns, Vascular. All this inconvenience and pain could have been avoided if the IV port had been flushed. Next day the discharge doctor while reviewing my orders asked why I had specified that I didn’t want any painkillers. I was surprised since I never said such a thing. He went ahead and sent the prescription, which I needed. My discharge orders also indicated that I was to keep the drain that they inserted during surgery for 7 days and to make an appointment with the drs office for removal. I went home with the drain and the next 7 days were miserable thanks to it. When I finally get to the doctors office to remove the drain he was surprised I still had it since his orders had been to have the drain removed before being discharged. So, I suffered needlessly because my IV was not tended properly, I would’ve suffered needlessly if I had left without a pain med prescription and I suffered needlessly dealing with an unnecessary drain for 7 days. Hope my experience will help improve hospital communication.

On June 9-11, 2023, I was hospitalized because of a dangerous virus I caught named Norovirus. I have been attending South Lake Hospital for many years. In my opinion, it is the best hospital in Lake County and surrounding counties. Customer service toward patients had been outstanding. However, in this hospitalization, things turned very different and unexpected. For example, after being in the emergency room for a couple of hours with extreme vomiting and diarrhea, I didn't notice a few of the blue long little bags for patients to vomit, were on the floor. A nurse named Luanne with short black with blonde highlights hair was upset with me and was accusing me of tossing the blue bags on the floor. I apologized for not noticing, and she kept arguing with me regarding that matter. At that moment, I was being transferred to an isolated room so I stopped paying attention to her claim.I spent three days in the Isolated room. While I was there, nurse Jasmine was good. Heidi, the nurse assistant, was very good too and very caring. Additionally, nurse Genson's care was extraordinarily good and so was Kevin's. Dr. Santos made me feel that she cared about me, and she took the time to make me feel better. On the contrary, Anna the nurse assistant was extremely rude to me. Anna's tone of voice was always like she was mad at me. At one point, she came to clean the portable toilet. After cleaning the toilet, she was trying to take my vitals WITH THE SAME GLOVES SHE CLEANED THE PORTABLE TOILET!! When I asked her if she was going to change her gloves, she got very upset with me and her exact words were "Now I have to exit the room, tossed the gloves, put in hand sanitizer, and change the gloves again". My answer was "Well, do whatever you have to do but you ARE NOT going to use the same gloves to take my vitals". She was trying to argue with me so I prohibited her to come back to my room. Whoever was in charge took care of the situation, and they sent another nurse assistant.Even though I had this unsanitary situation, I still believe that South Lake Hospital is a great hospital because, in almost 20 years of visiting this hospital, it is the first time I had a situation with any person from the hospital.Dr. Denise La Salle

For the most part everything was great! My post op nurse, Rose, went above and beyond to make me comfortable and happy. Only one nurse my entire stay seemed to not know what she was doing. Other than that one floor nurse, EVERYONE from nursing, housekeeping, dietary to transportation was fabulous!

I had my first MRI scan a month ago at another location not affiliated with Orlando Health and it was horrific. I was distraught when I heard that my test results were inconclusive and that I’d have to have another MRI done. This time however, my doctor scheduled it to be completed at South Lake Hospital. My experience at South Lake was like night and day! The two technicians (I don’t remember the ladies’ names) were INCREDIBLE! They helped to calm my anxiety and fears regarding my health concerns, they were absolutely supportive and encouraging throughout the entire process, they were gentle, patient, and attentive to my needs without me even having to ask, and they were both just so extremely friendly and personable! The atmosphere was calm and relaxing as well. I loved the beach scene painted on the wall and the image on the ceiling, and the music on the headphones helped as well (which is not an option I had available at the last location). Overall, I walked away so at peace and relaxed and really wished I had initially come to South Lake to have had my first MRI to begin with after experiencing such a positive difference. If for any reason I have to have any further imaging done, I will definitely request that it be done once again at south lake hospital!

The service was really quick and the people were really wonderful . it was no way time no downtime. They were very pumped on everything and diagnosis and getting me the help that I need it. I had pneumonia and a dip staying two days in Southlake hospital. From the urgent care to the emergency room if you transported to the hospital, every single person I came in contact with her very caring, explaining everything that was happening and everything that I was taking everything they were doing. They were absolutely amazing. I wish we had that kind of service up here in Massachusetts.

The care at this hospital (Orlando Health) is second to none. The care with the staff is a A +. Everyone I met was very caring about how your feeling and what can I do for you to make you feel better.Every doctor I met I just love their bed side matter, very sweet and beautiful.Oh the kitchen if you are going to eat hospital food is a 5 star.Their salads down on the first floor is better the any restaurant and I'm a salad lover.Their great if you have to be in the hospital. The hospital gets a 100 +
