What a great choice we made in working with Derek Bissen, and Katie too! Without going into too much detail, we definitely had some unique challenges in getting a mortgage. When conventional lenders were left stumped, I found Derek through a Google search. My husband and I have had 25+ real estate transactions in our lives...a lot of them were painful, especially for our investment properties. Communication with Derek was clear, concise, prompt, and he left no detail unexplained...never assuming we were experts. He's such an interesting person, too. I always enjoyed speaking with him! DO NOT HESITATE to work with Derek. He is a super knowledgable professional, and his sense of humor was much appreciated in this stressful new home building process. Highly, Highly recommended!

Derek is by far the best! I’ve purchased over 20 homes and I will only use him moving forward. The name unconventional speaks volumes, don’t waste your time with the big box lenders who are computer automated, let a professional literally work the loan for you!

Derek came up with a solid solution to my unconventional mortgage needs when conventional mortgage lenders were unable to provide one. He was a pleasure to work with - honest, responsive and great communications. I trusted him that no last-minute underwriting issues would derail my deal, and it all went very smoothly. Also, Dawn was super efficient at getting everything submitted for underwriting and closing - we were able to accommodate the seller's request to close a few days early. Three years ago, Derek Bissen was my mortgage loan originator and he was instrumental in helping me obtain a mortgage for my house. He was so helpful that when it came time to refinance my mortgage that I called Derek to be my mortgage loan originator for the refinancing.
