My husband & I had originally booked condo 503 the end of August 23’ then Cedar Key was in the direct path for Hurricane Idalia. This owner of the condo, Shirley would NOT refund our money even though we were in danger of the hurricane also. That was the 1st red flag. She said not only was she not going to refund my money (and obviously Cedar Key was hit hard from that hurricane, families & business were devastated!) she said I had to rebook before the end of the year and had to book on the same nights! Unreal. So my husband could not make any of those dates so I brought a girlfriend. #503 is very outdated with broken blinds, nicks & little holes in the walls, pictures from the 90’s, very drab, not like the other places we’ve stayed on the island (have been coming here for almost 30 years). My girlfriend & I left that condo spotless & then get a text from Shirley saying she will not be refunding my security deposit because we supposedly broke a window in the guest room! Supposedly the housekeeper found an open window & could not close it. It was cold and windy there on the 2 nights we stayed (12/17-19) high 50’s in day-low 40’s at night; there is NO WAY we broke anything and NEVER opened any windows! SO disappointed with this woman & have never been treated so poorly in Cedar Key. Do not rent from this woman, she is a liar and a thief‼️ Oh yeah, and she says her housekeeper never misses anything & checks the whole condo out before the next guests…she missed checking the light on the deck, bulb was out for us and sat in the dark out there. SO yeah, she missed that‼️

SHADY BUSINESS PRACTICES!! BE WARNED!!Firstly let me say that my wife and I stayed here a few years ago and had a really great experience. Loved it.Last summer we booked 2 nights a few weeks before Hurricane Idalia ravaged Cedar Key. Unfortunately the dates we booked were just after the storm hit the island. Virtually all the restaurants and shops were closed due to damage so we tried to get a refund. The woman in charge said absolutely NO and that we had to rebook on those exact days of the week within a time frame of a few months. We felt that was unreasonable and rather uncool, but my wife re-booked this past week with a good friend, being I was out of town on business. When they checked out, my wife saw that the Seahorse pocketed the 150.00 damage deposit claiming that my wife or her friend opened and damaged a window. Bullcrap. COMPLETELY FALSE. It was frickin 40 and 50 degrees during their stay so they definitely did NOT touch the windows. The housekeeper “supposedly” claimed they damaged it. Very disappointing. We just want to warn people about our experience here and to stay clear. We’ve been coming to this cool island for almost 30 years and are saddened to have encountered a place like this. Never any problems anywhere else. Establishments like this evidently don’t realize the power of social media.

My review is favorable, but also frankly honest. I like it enough that I definitely plan on staying here again this year. No place is perfect unless you're paying megabucks, and I'm not even too sure about that. LOLWe stayed in #302 at Seahorse Landing, renting through McCormack Rentals. The view is absolutely wonderful, and we've stayed in this unit before - 3 times now I think. It's a 5 hour drive for us, but makes a nice, relaxing 3-4 day escape.PROS -** The view, hands down. Sunsets are glorious.** The price on this unit is a little less than some of the other units.** Kitchen is well equipped.** Internet is sufficient for us to do some work if we feel like it, and good enough that we can usually do a Zoom with the family.** Hot tub! Pool was cold in April so I didn't use it. But when I was there last summer, I'd go from the hot tub to the pool, and so forth.CONS -** It could really use a screen door to the balcony because otherwise you'll get bugs inside if you leave it open for the fresh sea breeze. We spent a lot of time on the balcony reading, talking, using our iPads and enjoying the view at the same time.** I couldn't get any of the deck windows open and one was actually duct-taped shut. This may not be much of a concern unless you'd rather have fresh air than air conditioning.** Unit is a little dated, but then they all are & Cedar Key is a little dated itself. That's sort of the point of going there, right?** Could use a new bed. It's not awful yet, but I'd say it's starting to be a problem if you have back trouble. But the twin bed I tried one night in the other bedroom was nice & firm.**No major grocery stores. Either stop in Gainsville or Chiefland and haul what food you think you need with you & just hit one of the 2 little groceries for what you forgot - or - plan on eating out a lot. Seafood place is decent. We thought one of the little restaurants was a real rip-off. Two coffees and two fake grilled cheese (bread toasted & cheese nuked in microwave) for lunch cost us $36, not counting tip, which I thought was ridiculous and it certainly didn't taste like real grilled cheese! LOLBOTTOM LINE - We like #302 in Seahorse Landing. We plan on staying in this unit again later on this year.PS - Cedar Key is an island so as far as cell phones go, T-Mobile signal is not strong and most of the time I could only make phone calls or get texts in the bedroom - not that I was on the phone more than once a day. No reception at all on the balcony. Other carriers may have a stronger signal. Our iPads & laptops worked fine with the internet.

This was our third visit to Seahorse Landing. All the units are two bed/two bath and have large covered decks facing the gulf. The kitchens are fully stocked with pots and pans, dishwashers, and the ones we booked had washers and dryers. The sunsets never disappoint.

Clean, friendly, a very beautiful spot on balcony for sunsets, great view, stocked with all dishes needed in kitchen, had some games and books around, clean & clear pool, awesome private dock right there to fish from, very roomy for the 5 of us that stayed. We had a young child, a teen and 3 adults had plenty to do in and around the area.

Unit 402. Not great to say it best. We have stayed here before in other units and really enjoyed ourselves. Only reason for 2 stars at this point. Current stay is less than 1 star. The condo appeared to be left dirty. Crumbs and such from previous stay left behind. Hair from previous tenants in kitchen, bathrooms, and beds. My wife and mother in law spent the first three hours of their stay washing the linens and cleaning. It was our anniversary and my mother in laws bday. So, it upsets me that they had to clean just be comfortable in the unit. If we weren’t short on time, I would have tried to find other accommodations. A/C went out the first night, then started working again after we reset it. Furniture throughout unit and back porch are extremely outdated and falling apart. Window seals inside have mold/mildew all over. Staff seemed less than thrilled to accommodate the issues. Except for the the lady that actually came to help with the cleaning. She was great.

We cancelled our reservation by telephone two weeks before arrival due to illness. The conversation was pleasant and we had hoped to rebook for the following year. Received a later call that we would be charged $800 due to the late cancellation. This technically did not apply as our booking was under 28 days but over the course of a week I had several conversations regarding monies we might owe in good conscience should the unit not be rebooked and regarding the original confirmation that we never received . I asked for a confirmation on their part showing it had been sent but never received it. The unit fortunately was rebooked all but four days of that time period. On the date we would have checked in our account was charged the full amount ($4,600) for the cancelled reservation. A search of my old email account showed a statement sent that same day. The reason they were able to charge us is that it does state in their confirmation that cancellations must be by email. In spite of three phone conversations regarding the cancellation there was no reference to still needing to follow up with the email. If you book, read the fine print carefully because this does not feel to me to be on the up and up

Spent this past weekend here with my family and it was great!!! The condo looks exactly as posted and described (posted my own pics as well). The view is ABSOLUTELY stunning and we got the end unit which had a mini wrap around porch as well. It's spacious and clean. The only issue we had was unfortunately the mattresses are springy and we did wake up with some back pain, that would be the only thing I would suggest they update. Aside from that, it's super cute and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay! And the owner Shirley was in constant contact and immediately responsive with any questions I had, even suggested a good restaurant to try and she was definitely right. Great time and will be back in the future!

Rooms are spacious. We stayed there with our friends. We were in unit 102. We each had our own bedroom and bathroom. The pool was cloudy when we arrived on Thursday and is still cloudy on Saturday. It needs some attention. The TV in our room turned on but there was no volume and you couldn't adjust the volume or channel with the remote or on the TV itself. Our bed was very uncomfortable, but the master bedroom where our friends stayed was comfortable. The view from our room was great. We loved the wrap around deck and you can't beat looking at the ocean. This is a great little town. Fun to rent a golf cart and tool around for a weekend.
