On June 4, 2024, I took my Escalade to this establishment based on the high number of positive reviews for my air conditioner (AC) not blowing cold air. The price was fair, and the AC blew cold air until August 16 at around 3:30 PM, 108 miles from home. At 4:35, when I completed what I needed to do, I called and talked to Savahana, and the soonest they could schedule me was Thursday, August 22.
At 7:14 PM, I lost complete power from my vehicle steering, and the lights on my dash lit up like a Christmas tree. I pulled over and saw a shred of a belt hanging down from the engine when I popped my hood. My serpentine belt was entirely off, and it was not damaged. The logical assumption would be that the belt hanging down had thrown off my serpentine belt. I popped my hood; I could see that the AC serpentine or stretch belt was in shreds.
Since I only have one vehicle, I had it towed to my mechanic since it is now inoperable. I had my vehicle back at 5:15 PM on the 20th. On the 21st, I went to this shop and explained my situation as above and was seeking monetary compensation since this company was the last one working on my vehicle before it broke down. Bruce told me that "they only fix what is broken." I was astonished to hear that! I took my vehicle to his business versus my mechanic because his shop name should know AC systems, as they should be subject matter experts.
I went there to get my AC checked out, which is, in fact, a system, not just a condenser unit. We went over to my vehicle as he wanted to show me how the AC unit works, and it was not his shop's fault. He stated that my pulleys and system itself are old. Then why not advise me of the other components of the AC system that should be changed? I know that they did not have a fiduciary nature in themselves as a company or me as a customer. It's apparent that I was treated as a nickel and dime customer (so I can come back with other issues with the AC), or this company does the bare minimum for the customer and hopes they have repeat customers with their low, competitive prices.
I would not recommend this establishment based on my experience. Again, I read reviews before going there and thought that Bruce could see some correlation between his technician/company being the last to service my vehicle and the breakdown on August 16. He was abrasive and did not want to accept any responsibility for his technician's or establishment's lack of actions, which was to service my AC system and not just a component. If he knew "stuff" was old, then he should have let me know, and I should have decided if I wanted it to be changed or not, which, by the way, Bruce, I would have had the work done that needed to get my system to work far beyond what you replaced at your establishment.
There is an old saying that my Latian mother said, "Lo barato sale caro." (Translated) The cheap becomes expensive. I got a new OEM HVAC compressor kit and OEM tensioner assembly, which, in parts and labor, Bruce, you know how much money would have gone to your business.
Synopsis: If you need one thing fixed with your vehicle, use this shop. Stay away if you want them to fix what is or can go wrong with the vehicle's system.
This review states facts and one logical event.

There aren't many shops like this anymore! It's hard to find an honest repair shop with mechanics that actually know what they're doing. My van was overheating & a/c wasn't working. My husband and I were looking for a shop to take take it to. He called a shop in Brooksville that over the phone thought that the issue was the A/C. I called Ice Cold Air after reading a lot of very good reviews online. The lady that answered the phone said that it sounded like an engine cooling issue but that they would take a look at it. Bruce fully checked the A/C and found no issue. It was a radiator fan that had stopped working...a part that was replaced by Goodyear 8 months ago and he explained that it was likely still under warranty. Bruce did not charge for his time troubleshooting my a/c or the engine AT ALL! He just asked that I remember them when I need repairs done to my vehicle. I ABSOLUTELY will! He has made a new customer! They don't just repair a/c . They do other repairs as well. So we will definitely be back for any repairs that our vehicles need. Thanks again Bruce! Your work, honesty and professionalism is a rare find these days! I HIGHLY recommend taking your vehicle to Ice Cold Air in Brooksville!

I have been taking our vehicles to Bruce at Ice Cold Air for 20 years. Bruce has always been very fair with repair work. Even with the exorbitant cost of parts over the last four years Bruce and Savanna work to find you the best deal. I truly appreciate their honesty, integrity and high quality of work! Thank you for always being there!

The employees were polite and responsive, however, I would NOT recommend for two reasons. 1, they removed all of my freon to check for a leak and didn’t refill (I would have gladly paid). 2, they quoted me $1,280 worth of work (a new compressor) even though I recently replaced the compressor. If there is in fact a leak, like Bruce said (but not noted in the quote) it’s minimal because I put in less than half a can of freon and my AC has been blowing ice cold ever since (over two weeks now). I can’t help but feel like if I was a man I would’ve gotten different diagnosis and service.

My first impression was very good. Bruce, who seems to run the place appears very knowledgeable. BTW, the does more than just A/C repairs. Bruce fixed my horn while I was waiting for him to tell me what was wrong with my A/C. Ice cold air will be my car shop if/when I have a car problem from now on.

I took my car in to find out why my AC wasn't working, I also told them the front-end had a death wobble at times and my radiator was leaking but I couldn't find the leak,Bruce said they would check it out,the mechanic showed me exactly what was wrong with the AC and what was causing the wobble to happen when it decided to act up,he also showed me the slow leak at the bottom of the radiator, I was impressed when they they told me there was no change to check it out because most places do,Bruce gave me a quote to do the work,I told him my main concern was the radiator, when I got home I looked at the quote and couldn't believe what he quoted me on replacing the radiator, I had called several places to compair prices, Tires plus gave me a quote of $879 plus tax,I called COLD AC back to make sure the quote was correct and they said yes? I made a appointment to get it done because NO ONE could do it for the quote that Bruce gave me,I live on a fixed income so money for car repairs is hard to come by,the day before my appointment I called them back to see if the antifreeze was included in the quote and they said yes,I still couldn't believe it, I took it to them this morning to replace the radiator, I just knew in my heart they were going to tell me they miss quoted me and it would be a lot more,I took my dog Nugget with me and sat under a tree and watched the mechanic do the job from a distance,I just knew there was no way in the world that they could replace my radiator for what Bruce quoted me,Once the mechanic finished I went inside to pay the bill knowing that it was going to cost me more than the quote but when I went to pay the bill it was exactly what Bruce had quoted me,I almost cried right there because there's NO ONE that would have replaced my radiator for what Bruce charged me,as I was leaving all I could say out loud was THANK YOU GOD!!! THANK YOU GOD!!! AND THANK YOU BRUCE!!! I'm almost in tears now leaving this review because there's no one out there that would have replaced my radiator for that price,I called several places for a quote that's why I called them back several times to make sure the quote Bruce gave me wasn't a miss quote I even called back the day before to see if the antifreeze was included in the quote and they said yes,I can't thank Bruce and his staff enough for what they did for me!!! I also want to thank the mechanic who did the work for popping my bumper back in place that's been sticking out ever since I got the car 6yrs ago,I was shocked when I noticed it,THANK YOU GOD FOR A ANSWERED PRAYER AND THANK YOU BRUCE AND THE AWESOME STAFF AT ICE COLD AIR,YOU'RE THE BEST NUGGET SAID THANK YOU TOO,THATS MY DOG!!

I've only been to Crystal River ICA a few times . . .but they have never failed to get high marks ...last year for my AC ,wasn't as cold as I thought it should be, Rick took charge and had me going in one hour . . . recently I had some transmission issue, they took me in right away at #p.m. could't finish it that day,but were on it in the morning to get me going ,my brakes on my other vehicle were scraping ,so I stopped by, again late in the day they got me "up and running" and I came back the next day for them to do the complete job ... can't ask for more than that ! and Tiffiny keeps it going smooth out front ! I'll be back...not because I want to ...but because when you have car troubles that's the place to go !

*UPDATE* I got my truck back today (5/28) and it runs like a champ again! And my ac is 'ice cold.'
There was a loose wire after pulling dash off that was shorting out burning up the starter.
I'm updating and giving another 2 stars, because the manager made things right, and my ac works great.
And we will continue to use ice cold air, when needed.
Thank you for making my truck "Old reliable " again.
*******
We have used ice cold air quite a few times for our trucks.
This time, it's been an absolute nightmare and today I ran out of patience.
We dropped off my F150 for an ac problem on Sunday May 12.
A few days later they called and let us know it needed a new evaporator coil and said they were busy and probably wouldn't get to it until the following week. We understood, it's hot and a busy time of year. They call us early that week, I believe it was a Tues. "it's ready to pick up. "
We pay $1,335.94 go out to start it, and my truck wouldn't start. Tech looks at it, then gets owner/manager to look at it.
We end up having to leave it there, the manager said it's the starter.
Keep in mind I've had my truck 9+ yrs and NEVER had a problem with it not starting. She is my old reliable.
They call the next day.." its ready". Another $207, for the starter.
We go to start it up, it starts but made an odd noise, (like turning the ignition on a vehicle that's already started. )
I figured we'd see how it goes.
I stop at Target on the way home, go to leave and it doesn't start. We call the manager again, he asks if we can get it towed back.
He said it sounds like a "Bad Starter".
( they just replaced!)
I said 1500+ and a problem it didn't have before going there, not spending another dollar. He gave us the number of towing co. he deals with and said he would cover the bill.
We call the tow co. they said in order for them to not charge us the manager has to call them. We call back AGAIN asking him to call and take care of this. (Which I feel he should have to begin with.)
Truck gets towed back to ice cold air. We're called on Friday May 24, he tells us
"The 'refurbished ' starter we put in was bad, so we put a brand new one in and it's ready to pick up".
Go to pick it up....doesn't start AGAIN.
3 times now.
So we obviously paid for a starter I didn't need.
We have been extremely patient and appreciate the manager's apology but today did me in.
It's Saturday 2:00, I call to check on my truck, I'm needing it for this coming week.
They are closed today-Tuesday!
How in the world does a business leave a customer without a vehicle for 3 more days after the ordeal and cost we have been through?! They didn't even tell us they'd be closed today.
I'm sorry, but my truck should have been a top priority going into a 3 day holiday weekend after this mess.
This is a total lack of customer service.
I will update my review if and when I get my truck back. NOT a happy return customer at all right now.
2 stars because the manager atleast apologized and paid the towing.

My a/c hadn't worked in years so I finally decided to get it fixed. They were in such a hurry to get me in and out of there even though I told them no hurry. They somehow didn't realize when they fixed my a/c it was causing my engine to misfire. The a/c was on when I started the car and I turned it off when I left. I turned it on about halfway home and the car stated running rough and the engine light started flashing. I got it towed to a shop and they said it should have been tuned up because the engine wasn't handling the extra stress of the a/c running.
