We had to bring our puppy Achilles to this vet clinic for an emergency when our lil bully got terribly sick!! They were very friendly and so helpful, loving and caring to our puppy!! Took him right out of hands and started working on him instantly, they were able to find the problem right away and nurse him back to health in a very short time! We were so happy and grateful to have him back and back to normal!! They even called to following day to check up on him which was very sweet and thoughtful! Even though My wife and I we absolutely terrified from the experience it was great to have such a great staff and Dr. to handle our emergency puppy issues!!

We live in Sarasota but needed a second opinion for our cat Clarence. We brought him to Dr. Harper who took great care of him and gave us some different medications to try, which helped a lot! They were in the midst of a major renovation but this didn't affect their service level, we were very impressed with everyone's attitudes and professionalism. If we lived closer we'd bring our cats here regularly!

Dr. Claunch has been an amazing vet for my dog. He is very kind, compassionate, and thorough. He takes the time to explain everything, listens to my concerns, and answers all my questions. Thank you guys for all that you do!

Sadly they are all about the $$$ and not about treating the pets- Very expensive and push expensive treatments-failed to properly diagnose my dogs cancer and he sadly passed way too soon (Dr.H) - I would stay far away!! They don’t care about our fur babies only $ for their new office- This wasn’t first bad experience I have had at this vet-

Great vet. I tried many and these guys are very good!
Revising only because i had to visit the ER vet tonight. My pup was very sick. Brought her in at 130am. Very professional, compassionate and caring. If you have a pet emergency, these are the people to see. Wish i could give more stars, they deserve it.

Dr. Claunch is very caring and I appreciate his sincere empathy for my Jackyboy. He thoroughly examined my boy and I feel confident what ever the outcome, he is in good hands.
Update: 30July2024
Dr. Claunch and his kind staff helped my husband and I say goodbye to our Jackyboy. It was the saddest day. I know it was very hard for all and want them to know how much we appreciate them. We will never stop grieving for our little buddy.

I can’t speak for other doctors at this practice, but I would not recommend Dr. Heusi. My dog was a patient of hers. Dr. Heusi was very dismissive of our concerns regarding our dogs health and blamed us for our dogs condition and rapid and excessive weight gain, despite us trying to explain to her everything we’ve tried to no avail. She blamed us for over feeding our dog when our dog received half the recommended amount of food for her breed and size. She also refused to do testing and further bloodwork, despite our requests and us notifying her of signs we saw that indicated a problem. Thank goodness we sought a second opinion at another local practice where they performed the x rays and testing Dr. Heusi refused to do. Turns out my dog had cancer that went undiagnosed for years. It was too late to perform surgery for my dog and we had to put her down, but had Dr. Heusi listened to my initial concerns and believed me at least a year or 2 prior maybe we could’ve saved my dog, or at least bought a few years. I also have a veterinary background of many years so it’s not like I don’t know what I’m talking about. Dr. Heusi needs to check her attitude and how she treats patients and clients. There are many other better vet practices in the area to choose from. Or at the very least, don’t see Dr. Heusi.
Our other experiences with assistants, front desk staff, and vet techs was good though, hence why I added a star.

I brought my dog for shots during off-hours. I said I'd come back, but the girl at the desk suggested that she would check if someone was available now. A tech said, "Yes, they were available in a few minutes," and the girl asked if I could wait a few minutes. Forty minutes later, I reminded them we were waiting at her suggestion, and she said, "Well, it's their off time, and they are probably busy." Three girls were at the desk, looking at me unapologetically and rudely because I was annoyed she told me to wait and forgot about me. Again, no apologies no compassion, my dog had been sitting quietly for 40 minutes, they are not nice people and I am switching vets and don't recommend them. This is the response I received from the Vets office after my email and my response. Mrs. Stein, It was disappointing to read your negative review about our practice. Please be aware that we were willing to provide services for your pet even though it was not during our designated technician hours. As you know, our staff was reduced during lunch rotations, and the doctors and technicians were caring for hospitalized patients. No one enjoys prolonged waiting times, but sometimes it is unavoidable. Your review indicates you will be "switching vets". We will deactivate your chart, please let us know where to send your records. Sincerely, James A Kanzler, D.V.M. I did not request to be seen during the off hours; it was offered to me. Once I was informed that it was not the usual time for drop-in vaccines, I immediately said I would return. However, you suggested I wait to check if a technician could see us. After being told Delilah could be seen and I just needed to wait a few minutes, I waited patiently for 40 minutes. Eventually, I approached the desk, and with three women staring at me, there was no attempt to rectify the situation, just defensiveness that it wasn't the actual time to be there. We pay a substantial amount for Delilah's care, and I am paying for a service, not receiving a favor. I would have gladly returned at a later time. Being treated courteously matters to me, which was not the case today. Other customers should be aware of what to expect from the staff at the front desk. Additionally, your email is also defensive and unapologetic.

We unfortunately had to say goodbye to our 20 year old cat this morning and our regular vet is out of town so we called Desoto and they told us though they were booked they would help us. They accommodated us as quickly as they could and Dr. Heusi was extremely kind in helping us let him rest. We are very grateful to her for holding space for us while we said goodbye and making it as gentle an experience as it could be. We would visit again if needed in the future.

Dr. Jenna Heusi is the best. She is the type of vet that is great with my chocolate lab. She took her time with my dog. Was down on dogs level and very hands-on and thorough with checking her from head to toe. She addressed all my concerns. Dr. Heusi even called next day with lab results.

During such a difficult time for our family, as we had to make the decision to put our Buddy to rest, we were handled with patience, compassion, space to breathe, cry, and information to make the best decision for our sweet pup. The staff was amazing at every turn. I had heard horror stories about other places and experiences, and I was frankly not sure what to expect. I can say that nothing could have gone better, considering the circumstances...they had thought of every comfort one could need during this time of loss and grief, my heart goes out to this caring and considerate office of wonderful humans. RIP Buddy
