They are great, I go there every week. I've talked to numerous employees and they all seem to care about the work they do

Everyone here is amazing! Super professional and polite. I adopted a rabbit for my 17 year old son from here a week ago. We had a great experience. I can't say enough good things about this place. Everything is clean and well kept as well. I was planning on adopting from a breeder, but doing it this was was much more pleasant. Even though my son had already researched and purchased supplies, they sey us up with even more. I am beyond grateful.

I rescued both of my bunnies from here, and I love them so much. Hardly lived a good life of almost 8 years old and Max is still kicking and the sweetest rabbit ever. I do have a question, why do you guys not have a phone number listed? I have an inquiry.

Rescued all my dogs and cats with Bishop Animal Shelter over 31 years. This rescue greatly cares for all animals that are given to over to them. Plus they go the extra mile to help you find the pet you want to adopt. God bless and thanks ?

Bishop is the best. Kindest most caring staff anyone could ask for. Clean facility, well managed. This is a picture of Princess on her new sofa at her forever home. God Bless ❤

Great people! They truly do care about the animals. I found a best friend and the greatest dog in the world. Her name is Zoey aka Helen and she's completely deaf and partially blind but Bishop never gave up hope on her and finally she has a forever home. I'm truly sorry to see them change hands with the county. Manatee County will definitely destroy this place and make it something it was designed not to be.

My aunt adopted her second dog from this no kill shelter. The staff there is so compassionate and helpful. They took the time to answer all the questions we had, explaining all the details regarding Lola and her care. They provided my Aunt (who is on a limited budget) a nice harness to keep and food for Lola's first week. If I ever hit the lottery, they will be first on my list. They have made my Aunt's life a lot less lonely and I am very grateful to them.

I wrote a review not too long ago. I’ve tried calling about Otto, I just want to know if he is good with cats but no one answers their phone. It’s understandable that the shelter is busy but at least provide some BASIC info online. They have dogs in this shelter for 3 YEARS, still NO bio or info on them! This is insane, you are doing a disservice to these animals. My offer to write their bios still stands.

The shelter staff were so accommodating during the adoption process! I lived over 3 hours away and I was adopting a heartworm positive senior dog a few months ago. I was so grateful that they were able to mail me her medication overnight when a UTI came up and they also extended the slumber party until the infection cleared up. Definitely recommending this shelter to my friends and family.

There is the right animal for everyone. The people are so nice and truly care about what they do. I had an emergency on a slumber party and the emergency line responded within a couple of minutes and we got the party guest emergency vet care right away. If you're in the market for a pet, this is the place to go. They even have more types of animals than dogs and cats... call ahead for appointment during this Covid period, they make arrangements to keep the adoptions going!! I love this place ❤

Took a dog home for a slumber party we were told the dog was cat safe. We did everything they told us to do. The dog attacked our cat. He needed three surgeries and spent 10+ days in the hospital. The dogs need to be better tested. The shelter never reached out to us or even seemed to care that our cat almost died.

They really made the adoption process seamless! You have a 7 day slumber party where you take your new pet home to bond. Then after the 7 days they complete the paperwork and you're all set to adopt if you wish or return the pet. Thank you Bishop for making my dreams come to fruition by finally getting a chihuahua I've been wanting for the past 14 years! He is my precious little Wes! ?

The manager of the shelter was very rude when I spoke to her before adopting my pet. Terrible living conditions for the cats: living in an open room that smells, using shredded newspaper strips for litter, next to very noisy dog kennels. Dogs stepping on own feces. When I adopted my new cat Julio from this shelter, he was sneezing. I asked to make sure he was ok because I was bringing him home to four other cats. Was checked out as healthy. He continued sneezing and a few days later started bleeding from the nose and showing mouth ulcers. My vet said those were symptoms of calicivirus, a highlight contagious and lethal infection. Two of my other cats who came in contact with this cat also showed signs of serious upper respiratory distress and congestion within a few days. I had to take my new cat and another of my cats to the cat hospital for treatment. They had to be isolated. In addition, further tests showed that Julio had coccidia, an intestinal parasite. So this was a seriously ill cat when I got it. I called the shelter to alert them of the health concern, and they told me the manager was in a meeting. She never called back even though I made them aware that other cats in the shelter could be spreading the deadly calicivirus. This cat has cost me thousands already in medical treatment for him and my other two cats. It is a shame that no agency oversees this shelter’s performance. They should be more concerned about improving living conditions for the animals instead of the gate they brag about, and also have more caring and responsive administrators. Update: Julito, is doing fine, and he is adorable! I am glad I rescued him from this shelter.
