This should be the first place you go to find the dog for your family. It is a great experience.

Our family has a deep connection with Tri-County Animal Rescue’s pet cemetery; it’s where we chose to lay our beloved pet to rest when we lived in Boca Raton. Though we’ve since moved away, we still return to honor their memory. However, recent visits have revealed serious neglect in the cemetery’s upkeep and safety, prompting me to share our experiences as a caution to other pet owners.
On a previous visit, we noticed that the metal vase we’d purchased for flowers at our pet’s grave had been stolen. Although the office assured us a replacement would be ordered, nothing ever came of it. On our most recent visit, things were even worse—we couldn’t even locate our pet’s grave. The older section of the cemetery is overrun with weeds, making individual graves impossible to identify, giving the impression that this area has been abandoned entirely.
After a long search, we approached the office for help. A kind staff member tried to assist, explaining that we’d need to speak with the director to resolve these issues. We were promised a call back from Suzi Goldsmith, the director, the next morning, but as expected, we never received one.
To add to the frustration, while searching with the staff member, I accidentally stepped into a deep hole, over 1 foot deep, concealed by weeds, which caused an injury to my knee. The staff member suggested that iguanas might be causing the holes. However, this hazard could easily be prevented with basic maintenance—something the director has a clear responsibility to provide. The lack of care not only undermines the dignity of the graves but also presents a serious safety risk to the visitors.
It’s disheartening to see that only the new graves receive care, suggesting that maintenance stops after payment is made. This neglect feels like a betrayal of the trust we placed in the cemetery to provide ongoing care and respect for our pet’s final resting place.
I urge anyone considering this facility to think carefully. If you want assurance that your pet’s grave will be cared for and respected long-term and don’t wish to risk potential injuries while visiting, this may not be the right place.
As for the director, I understand there maybe issues with staffing shortages during the COVID pandemic, but with restrictions long lifted, it’s hard to see any justification for the lack of maintenance. I also understand the director may choose to ignore all complaints about the lack of care for the cemetery once payment have been made, but I imagine the director would be concerned if a personal injury claim were brought against Tri-County Animal Rescue due to the unsafe conditions created by this ongoing neglect

I was very impressed to see how the dogs and cats are cared for and all the staff I encountered were very friendly and answered all my questions. I didn’t leave with a cat or dog but I did leave the rescue with a donation so that they continue doing the great work they are doing. I’ll definitely be back.

I adopted a female Cocker Spaniel today. The adoption process was smooth and I was treated very professionally. I’m impressed with the current staff. Winter assisted me with my adoption and her professionalism is worth mentioning. It’s a busy place but she handles it all with ease. What a pleasure!

The location is clean, larger than it looks inside. The office team are very busy but do not lack on caring, smiles and answering questions. Be prepared with your ID and a pen before being able to meet a prospective new family member. The cost is high for adoption but we'll worth all they do for the assurance the animal you see ready to adopt should do well in public, in a home, and all medical is fully looked over.
My puppy mill rescued Mother, named Macy by them, is now Winnie who is coming around extra nicely. Having a Yorki in the home to help guide her how to be a dog helps too.
I cannot say enough good things . They sent us on our way with everything she could need and with option to use the lower priced vet on site in Boca.
Update:
Macy who is now Winnie- has got to be one of the sweetest dogs every. She followed my Yorki around until she got the routine down. She pees on the pee pad and #2 on the pad. She knows to limit any barking and she is the best to hold. I could not be any happier with having her as family.

I adopted a dog only yesterday, so add my detailed experience a bit later.
Updated in five weeks.
Lexy is a wonderful dog, she learns how to live in a loving family very quickly, still scared of strangers though. But we are working on it.

Nice place that’s no kill which I greatly support but $550 to rescue a dog or you can’t give him a home?! I’m so confused. I asked if they could slightly lower the price and lady at desk says no. Are they really trying to give an animal a loving family then?! Very disappointed they would prefer all that money then see an animal loved properly. I understand it takes money to run the shelter but finding animals good homes should be more of the goal then every dollar. Way to many animals put down every year and this would be another cage open for a new animal to come in and get a second chance. It really disturbed me.

We are in love with our new girl. She was rescued by TriCounty from a puppy mill in Missouri. She is only 4 years old and has had 3 litters. Due to the negligence she had suffered at the puppy mill, she needed to be spayed & endure 9 tooth extractions. We already love her and will give her the Best life in her Furever home! Our warmest gratitude and admiration to Winter & the entire staff at TriCounty for their selfless devotion and care of these innocent shelter animals.

This shelter is no better than a "breeder." A set adoption fee should be charged regardless of the "breed" of dog. If there is a more desirable breed, they will charge what a breeder would typically charge. They are no better. If you truly are in it for the animals, why should it matter what breed it is? Why would one breed be such a higher adoption fee than another? Thanks but, no thanks!!
