Zero wildlife in this Pinetree paradise. Large oaks are rotting and dropping small truck size branches. Mosquitos attack from every angle and don't care about fire pits, repellant or shooing, so disrespectful. It was relaxing because it is nature. Reservation and camping fees were $20.Restrooms: Porta pottys. Clean, stocked and easy access.Picnic area: Each site has large pic-nic tables

Should be a great place but 2 of the 3 times we have been there it has been ruined by a family that was living there. First time they ran a generator all night. Today we showed up to some people that had a full camp setup and we’re clearly there to stay. They had loud dogs and were blasting inappropriate music. We didn’t feel comfortable there so had to leave. We called the main number and the lady we spoke to seemed to have her head in the sand in the fact that people live at this site. You can see reviews going back years saying the same thing. This is our second time encountering them over last two years. Otherwise would be an awesome secluded camp site if you take away the squatters.

I reserved 2 sites (3&4) for our paddle club. Nicely isolated campground, with great access to the St Johns River 3/4 of a mile away. Fairly full up with quiet peaceable folks and well behaved kids and pets. Non-potable water hand pump and porta-potty available only. That was plenty good enough of us. It's an adventure club... not a quilting bee.

I found this hidden jewel while waiting on my Dad. We were riding to Daytona and then to the keys. Very peaceful! Only a couple of groups there, one of which had my spot. They were very nice, and apologized and said they would move, but it was better suited for them anyway, because of the huge tent they had. I was motorcycle camping, and sleeping in a hammock. There were plenty of open spots, so I just found one with a clump of trees, set up camp, and passed out. Best sleep I'd had in a long time.

Beautiful well shaded campground with a mixture of large and small sites. You have the river close by and can fish, hike, bicycle,as well as you can ride your horse in the forest .

The campground could be 5 stars but depending on which site you reserve and who else is camping during your stay you could have a 1 star experience. The state forest I usually stay at is just much more secluded and private compared to this one. There is a group of 4 with a couple dogs that appear to be living there. They wake up early to drop one member off at work so you'll hear the gate chain and them yelling at each other before the sun rises. After she gets back you'll hear lots of sounds.. none of them relaxing. She will be pacing around the campground screaming on the phone, the other two at the site will be listening to "music" at a louder than necessary volume, the dogs will be barking and she will randomly decide to holler at them, at some point the dog will get loose and she or the dog will come to your site, when he gets home it is guaranteed that they will again argue and threaten each other although even when she's not yelling at him she is still loud....need I say more? Thankfully we had the most secluded site but most of the other sites would have been intolerable as they have little to no privacy. It's hard to look back on the enjoyable parts of the trip because dealing with the full time group was just so painful. The mosquitos and ticks are something to be aware of. Thankfully we had spray and thermacell but we still battled the mosquitos and found several ticks on the dogs after hiking. We saw turkeys one morning and an otter down by the water. There is a nice spot to hangout down by the water.

Great place if you don't mind off grid.Only 10 sites here with no electric. No bathroom, but they do have a portable potty and Non potable water pump. Bring water. Beautiful Old Oak Trees!

Funny to read the reviews here, it all depends on your camping standards and expectations. I am used to very primitive/wilderness camping, and I found this campground to be just fine for a night (and much better than the Everglades campgrounds which I was on my way to!) Of course you have to go into it knowing that it's an organized campground with a fee, so of course it won't feel like you're back country. My site (7) felt fairly private, bordered by vegetation on 3 sides. Of course looking out the front you could see the adjacent site. I heard their car start early in the morning, but was quickly back asleep. The gravel road was alongside my site but hardly anyone drives down it.I liked that there was a locked gate, but I also disliked that because it meant that you would have had to reserve a site and pay ahead of time, which is not conducive to drop ins.

I camped here December 19-20, 2020, and I also had issues with the group who appears to live there. They were loud and screamed obscenities at each other until about 11 pm and started back up around 6 am. Their dogs also decided to stop by my site without a leash or human. I love dogs more than a normal person, but I had my two dogs with me so I didn't appreciate the owners letting their dogs roam free in to my site. The man who owns the small dog came to my site after I got there to introduce himself (and his dog) as the host and told me to contact him if I needed anything. I thought that was weird because there aren't hosts of primitive campgrounds that I know of. ??♀️ I wasn't happy with the location of the sites either. They're much too close to each other and have virtually no privacy between them. Overall, I won't stay there again because the large group of people seem to be a permanent part of the campground and it's not worth camping if you're only going to be annoyed the entire time!

The Reservation system is a rip. You have to pay $8.00 just to get a camp site... What happened to the drop tube? Site had 2 empty soda bottles and milk jug. Cleaned those up. Cigarettes and plastic trash in fire pit. Lake George canoe access through muddy swamp area. Reservations persons nice but if you stay another day you have to pay another $8.00!!!!

Camping spaces are crowded together. You may as will be in a row house in a big city. And most of the spaces are within just a few feet of a gravel road/passing. ?

Had to leave because of the humming of a generator and not the sounds of birds seems that people decided to just do what they want when they want too and then try to invade your space just unconscious programs
