On the day of the rental my fiancée was given a damaged rental. (Damaged Tires) We only picked up the rental because our car was getting some warranty work done.
We filled up the tank prior to dropping the car off. (Less than 1mi from drop off location.) and still incurred a fuel charge.
Check these cars before you leave and keep proof. Now we have to file a claim to be refunded for the fuel.

This Apopka Hertz location is ridiculous including the staff.
I made a reservation online for a Nissan Maxima and I paid full amount for 3 days for out of town drive for work related.
When I picked up the car on Monday(4/16) at 12pm. The staff said they don’t have Nissan Maxima. Instead they gave me a Mercedes since they said it’s in the same Category with Nissan Maxima. The Mercedes is so dirty with birds poof and has couples of pre-existing damages w/c I thought minors only including the loose cover on the front tire. But when I drove the car back home, the “ Maintenance overdue by 1879 miles” popped up on the screen. While picking up the speed, i was hearing weird noise coming from the front. When I got home, i checked the loose cover in the front tire and checked as well the underneath. I saw there was no cover underneath (damaged as well). So i took pictures of the underneath cover and emailed it to Hertz informing them that there was also pre existing damage underneath cover. I thought it’s still minor and have no time to come back to Hertz and request for replacement. In that night I used the Mercedes and drove in the highway. I noticed as you speedup more (60mph and faster, the noise gets worse and worse. Something is not right underneath and it will aggravate as you speed up. I decided I can’t use it long drive. I didn’t want to take a risk. So I called Hertz road side assistance to know what would be my option here since the hertz is already close. They told me that unless the car is undrivable, they can’t send roadside service or even replace the car.
To make the story short, I missed my out of town work because of the un-maintained rental car.
So, I returned rental car first thing in the morning since I already missed the time I should be at my work. I told them I cannot risk my safety doing long drive with this car. Despite the fact that I didn’t even really use the car and I missed my out of time work, Hertz still charged me for one day.
I told them, why should I pay for the hassle I got from the Hertz. The staff told me this which really surprised me, I quote “ well , the Mercedes is drivable only that it’s not safe to drive”. He has the guts to tell that to the customer. Really Hertz!! You let your customer drives your rental car that is unsafe to drive!! RIDICULOUS!!!
I thought it’s done already, when i checked the statement of charge( printed statement). It was there the mileage-in, mileage-out and mileage driven. The Mileage Driven was 200 miles!!!Ridiculous!!. I probably driven not more than 30 miles on that car. How the hell did he get the mileage-in when the staff didn’t even bother to get inside the car and check the mileage when I returned it. The proof that I barely driven it was that before I returned it, I refilled the gas for 1 gallon only to make it full tank again.
What was that, a default of minimum 200 miles mileage driven regardless of you barely driven it or you just returned right away??
I WILL NEVER RENT A CAR IN HERTZ!! At least in Apopka location.

Don't go here. Your rental reservation means nothing. And when they don't have your car when you show up........it is all on you to figure out if other Hertz or other rental agencies might have a car. They are rather too busy to help you I was told.

We placed a reservation online and needed to modify it. We were informed to call the local Hertz where we will pick up the vehicle to make the modifications. SHARON was RUDE, DISMISSIVE, and delivered POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. She gave us a number to call to make the modifications, when we called the number she gave us, it prompted to text a link. The Link was an ERROR message. We call back to get it clarified, and AGAIN she was interrupting when I was speaking. I said she had poor customer service and she said she does not. She then proceeds to get a supervisor and leaves me on hold 28 minutes. She then HUNG UP as it was PAST 5pm instead of saying they are closed now. Is that what HERTZ hires for their clients? I need a member of management to contact me.

Update:My insurance company booked this location so I went in person and was able to get the information I was looking for. If you try to call it may be difficult. Things turned around. Check in and out process was easy. Updating from 1 to 3 stars.—————————————————————————This is one of the worst Hertz location. When you call you can barely get through to someone and when you do they’re extremely unprofessional & unhelpful. I called and someone literally picked up the phone and just said “hello”. I thought I was called the wrong person. The customer service here is lacking & it was such a dreadful experience to get the vehicle I was looking for.

Friendly reception, after a short time the reserved rental car was handed over to me, everything went smoothly and without any problems.
I cannot share the negative reviews above. I'm happy to give this 5 stars with a clear conscience.

No matter when you come,There’s never sufficient service, in addition no one is upfront to assist with rentals, it’s normally a wait 15minute wait.This location is under staffed.

Rental location was clean. The staff were kind and extremely helpful. The manager, Sharon, was attentive and lifted my spirits on an otherwise not great day. Great customer service always makes my day better!

Worst car rental experience that I have encountered. Hertz overbooked and did not have the size vehicle available that they confirmed for me via reservation. I was told that they only had one large SUV available and that I would have to pay the difference to get the only vehicle they had left despite it being their error. The vehicle was only for one person so I went with another rental company after dealing with the rude staff at this location. My card was still charged despite me never receiving a vehicle from this location. When I called to have this rectified, I was met with the same unprofessional behavior that I had encountered initially.
