went to the Food Lion at 401 New London Rd in Newark, DE. The cashier asked me if it was oK to put my chicken breasts in a bag with other items at bagging, I said fine. I loaded items from my cart into my car, then unloaded at my home. The chicken breasts and a bag of onions were missing. I called the store and they confirmed that they were there. They said I could come get them, I said they were 20 minutes away (40 minutes round trip) and I could not. I asked for a refund and they said they could not issue them over the phone. They repeated that I could come in and I repeated that I would not be in that area for at least 2 weeks. I said that I was not going to pay for goods that I did not receive due to cashier error (he forgot to put them where I was loading into the cart, e.g. they stayed near him by his side not in the place where he was putting bags I was loading in my cart) and that I would dispute the charges for these goods with my credit card company and also write a poor online review if this was not fixed as I also did not have time to jump through endless hoops for a company caused error.
They transferred me to the night manager who basically made me repeat everything again and give me the same apologies except in a more condescending tone. When I related that I did not have time to come by the store, he said "but you had time to come in today" as if I was lying/exaggerating about this limitation. I did NOT appreciate this and told him that I was there today as I had to drive my sick dog to an urgent care vet and the vet said to feed the dog boiled chicken breasts. The store is not in my regular rotation of places I go. I did NOT appreciate being spoken to in this way as if I was lying in saying I could NOT drop everything and drive 40+ minutes and pay for gas to fix something that was NOT MY MISTAKE.
I told this individual that I would be including his name in this complaint because that remark crossed a line. It is NOT his or anyone else's place to tell me that I am lying about what I have time for in my day. I have time to type this now because it is ONLINE and that is how business is done nowadays. I do NOT have time to leave my home and my young child who has a disability at the drop of a hat because someone else makes an error. My time is NOT disposable and FL's customers NEED to be treated better than this. I will be disputing the charge with the CC company as I have no practical way not to pay for goods that I did not receive otherwise, and also never visiting this store again.

Went to the the check out with over $200 worth of groceries. First time ever shopping here. Was really liking the deals I found. Once I got to the counter I realized that every one was leaving. For some reason they were only taking cash only ??????? No ATM no help from staff. It’s on them to put it all back in shelfs. I’ll never go back again after how they handled the situation
I’m glad I’ll never be back. They lost a new customer that had over $200 worth of groceries
Never again. Just moved to are. Live walking distance. Never again

I drive right by 3 grocery stores to get to this food lion because I know I’m going to save money on my purchases. I’ve been shopping with this company for 45 + years. Low prices for name brand quality items.

They are convenient and very friendly. They have a pretty good pickup service but the only thing I cannot stand is how many times they are out of what I need. They also are terrible with supplying good "replacement" products. It does have an awesome selection of obscure salsa and marinades!

This is my walking distance grocery store and I was unpleasantly surprised at the customer service cashier, her glaring looks, and unhelpful ways. I must have brought too many items to the express lane; it says about 12 and I had some on sale crab dip that put me over. But she said nothing- her look said it all. Next I wanted all of my purchases in store bags, but she left an 8 pound (bags are getting lighter) of potatoes and a large bag of potato chips in their own bags. This is unhelpful when you're walking to the store. Lastly, I needed some cash and got $100 which she gave me in two fifties. I asked if I could get $20s and was rebuffed, "we like to save our $20s". So this was Diane, and hope you don't have her as your cashier.
