I don’t really like to do reviews but I had a very frustrating experience that I felt could have been avoided. I ordered my dress in November 2023 for a June 2024 wedding. It came to the store within one month. I should have gone and picked it up then! But they said it’s safe here, you don’t need to do alterations until later. They said April was good. So I made an appointment for April and after getting fitted the dress wasn’t going to be ready until the day before I left for my out of state wedding which was 7 1/2 weeks away. I wanted it sooner than the day before I left in case of any problems! But they didn’t seem to care or want my business because when I picked the dress up to take it to another seamstress instead of trying to make me happy which I’m not an unreasonable person they said good go somewhere else. It was a very disappointing and frustrating experience for this Mother of the Groom! They do have a “we’re hiring “ sign on the door so I guess they’re short of help but my dress was there already since December!!! Just beware!

Unless you are a teenager looking to go to a home coming or prom, I would suggest avoiding this location. The women who greeted me at the door was arrogant and rude. Felt like she was looking down on me when I asked if they had time to hem my jacket.

I DO NOT recommend them for alterations. I needed the straps raised.Maria, felt I needed a stitch in the bust area. Didn't ask me just put a pin in it to do it.I didn't realize see did, until we went to the register and they were charging for it.I said no I dont need that. Went back to maria she said i kept holding the dress up. I said yes because it was gaping because of the straps. She said ok we won't do it. I was not charged and it was crossed out on the ticket. I NEED the dress by the 28th, they said it would be done before, when i leave for the destination wedding. On the 23rd I have heard nothing and called to get a status update. My dress is ready I was told, but why did I have to call to get that info? I go to pick up my dress today.They fixed the straps, but not enough and the one strap looked horrible.Stitch not straight and could see the stitching. and they added the stitch I asked not to have. On top of that there were pulls on the dress. The first lady, no idea her name, immediately got defensive and said "I can pull the stitch out. Do you want me to?" The issue wasn't even the stitch, the dress laid very weird with the stitch.i said i don't know im not a seamstress but it needs to be fixed. She pulled out the stitch which tore/pulled the dress. She said I was afraid of that. So then why did you do it!?! I showed her the other pulls and she said they were there before. No they were not. At this point I was livid and thank goodness Sarah came out. She said let me see what I can do. She pressed it to help with the laying issue. While she was pressing it maria is going on and on to the first lady about how they didn't write the tickets right and she works to hard to do extra work. I'm sorry 1.a customer shouldn't be hearing this. 2. The work I asked her to do and paid for she screwed up anyway. When i tried on the dress again it still didn't lay right. The straps need to be pulled up about an inch. That's what they needed before, so I'm not really sure how much they raised it in the first place. In the end. Sarah made it look the best she could but it still doesn't look how it should nor the same condition I dropped it off in. Sarahs stiching on the strap was fantastic, you can't tell work was done at all. I also paid to have it pressed and the outside looks good but the inside is still wrinkled. Wouldn't you press the entire thing? All I can say is thank you to Sarah.I don't have time to get it any better but she at least got it to a point that unless you look up close it should be OK. I am in 2 more weddings in the next year and I will never go here again. If you Have to go here I'd ask Sarah to do the alterations. First photo was before, with no pulls. I didn't think to even take a closeup. Lesson learned. The others are after.

I would leave zero stars if I could. I do not recommend anyone going here. Customer service is absolutely awful. I went in November 2022 to look for a wedding dress. Service was excellent (at the time), I found my dress and ordered it. Fast forward to April 2023, the dress comes in and I get there to try it on and it’s the wrong size (too small) the shop reassured me it will be ok and they’ll get a new one in a matter of a couple of days and the owner would “drop everything to make sure this dress is altered and ready for my wedding”. That turned into a month later (my wedding is in June 2023 mind you) May 11 my dress finally showed up. May 13 I went to try it on and pick it up and it was the wrong color. Now less than 30 days to go and I had to buy the one off the rack. The owner never once came out to offer a discount, never offered an apology for the poor customer service, never said a word. As I was about to leave we were informed by an employee that the owner, Julia, wouldn’t have time to do my alterations and have the dress done in time for the wedding now. Thank goodness I scheduled an appointment elsewhere after all of the issues we had to begin with. Brides, do not waste your time, it is not worth the stress for dealing with them.

1 star because I can't leave zero. Their level of service is unlike anything I have ever seen before. (Julia) is rude and nothing is her / their fault. 3 bridesmaids in a wedding & all 3 were ordered incorrectly. One, they ordered a discontinued dress for (thank God she lives close and could go in and try on other dresses), I tried on a 12 at the shop and it fit like a glove with the exception of length. They insisted on measuring me still and ordered me a size 8. I am now crash dieting because the supply chain will not have another dress to me until Mid November (the Wedding is Oct 1st). Julia's fix was for me to bring my brand new dress in & trade her for the one on the rack that multiple people have tried on. She wouldn't even entertain the idea of dry cleaning it because why wouldn't I want to wear a $240.00 dress that has been tried on by multiple people when I paid for a brand new one. 3rd girl, Matron of Honor, again measured incorrectly. Tried on a dress at the shop, fit her perfectly, they ordered her a size 12. She lives over an hr away & after paying around $220-$240 for the dress, it was going to cost over $340.00 for alterations because the dress is SO large. The best level of service she can give is blame her for not driving the hour plus to have her alterations done there because they don't charge that much for alterations. "Not we're so sorry we measured wrong, we will make it right." No, not that. "she should've come here. That is ridiculous pricing. They are ripping her off. We would only charge $100 or a little more." This lady (Julia) is 10000% delusional on good customer service. I don't have a clue how she is still in business. You really need how to be organized & how to measure properly to be in this business (A) & (B): when you make a mistake it goes a long way to own it and do what you can do make it right. I strongly recommend you choose elsewhere when dress shopping!!!!

I had an extremely good experience at Candlelight's. I needed a tuxedo. I didn't know that this is something that ordinarily needs to be done quite in advance. Another place said it would take several weeks. Candlelight was able to do it in just a few days. The fitting was a non-event because the tuxedo fit perfectly. Finally, what really made it a wonderful experience was how helpful, gracious, and friendly the staff were.

DO NOT GO HERE. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. Disgusting and unprofessional customer service. A friend brought her dress here to get altered, and they confirmed 3 times that she would only need ONE appointment. When she got there the extremely rude seamstress said everything needed to be changed about her dress, and they can’t do it. SHE THEN SAID they don’t do “cheap” dresses and wanted to cut her train. She now has THREE WEEKS to find someone to alter this dress. When trying to get contact with the owner over the phone she was greeted by an impolite associate who said the owner was “busy”. AWFUL SERVICE

My mother of the bride dress was reasonable and the alterations were good. When the final fitting showed that one of the seams were taken in a bit too much, the seamstress adjusted it on the spot and didn't charge for that ! I had gone to a few bridal shops in Salisbury but found gowns in my plus size of similar quality , were more expensive . I'd recommend them as an honest, helpful business ! It was also great to see a business conveniently located in a downtown area. I never had any trouble parking close by.

Some of the worst customer service (in any business) that I've ever been a part of. The owner was down right rude and degraded us for coming with a dress that wasn't purchased from her store. Dress was purchased out of state as we moved here recently, and was looking for someone to take care of alterations. DO NOT GO HERE!!

Update: owner responded and states she offered to still do the dress. After the way she degraded her and was down right disrespectful, why would she ever choose to stay and trust someone like that with her wedding dress. Get outta here
