i have never had a bad experience at haven lake animal hospital. the staff and doctors are always courteous and compassionate. i have been taking my animals there for 23 years now. they have treated them with respect and dignity. they have always taken my feelings into consideration, in good circumstances and the not so pleasant experiences have been more tolerable. they have laughed with us and cried with us over the years. thanks to each and every one of you. love you all.

I had my pet scheduled to start aqua therapy. Unfortunately he took a tooth for the worse and we found out he had a large cancerous mass. We had to make the call no pet parent wants to make.I called them 4 days prior to his first appointment, there was absolutely 0 empathy. As I explained what happened to my family pet, the receptionist just kept asking his name, when the appointment was, etc...Literally not once apologizing for the loss of my sweet dog. I couldn't believe it and not I'm glad I avoided such a place.THOSE ACTIONS SHOW THEY ONLY CARE ABOUT MONEY!!

I am new to Delaware and had asked before I came down for vet references as I have a dog with bad allergies. I went with Haven Lake. I went there for the first time last week for a biopsy and the dog has loose stools and small amount of blood at the end it seems like from pushing harder. I met the most rude obnoxious vet ever. Because I never used flea meds she would not even speak to me. I have owned dogs for 40 years, lived up north until 6 weeks ago and have never had a flea. She then told me I was not a good fit for their office and would not answer any questions for me $250 later. She also told me my dog had horrible skin to which I said she is finally looking alot better and as I tried to explain what happend this past year she walked out of the room saying I was not a good fit for their office and never came back to speak to me, She had a vet tec come in and tell me there was no cancer in the sample she took. I was in shock after so many nice people I had met here. I called there today to say the loose stools were not any better and although I asked not to have the same vet again she called me back saying I am not a fit for their office She has refused to give me another pack of the meds. I said you would not even let me answer a question and she said your right I was frustrated and not listening to you. Come to find out she is the owner who obviously cares more about $$ than animals when she would let one bleed and possible dehydrate and refuse meds I can tell from the reviews I have read which people saw her. If you don't listen to her and not have an opinion and buy their products they have enough clients and don't need you,

The vets are great. The front staff are unfriendly and always seem like you are an inconvenience for them. To get them to loosen up and smile is very difficult. They make you feel like a second class citizen. I do like the vets though. I wish they'd fire their front desk personnel or find out which ones are the bad apples and send them on their way. Then the whole experience would be great. Been going to them for a few years now. It's always the same.

Only have two instances with vet. First one was good. Elderly male cat had broken canine. Regular vet suggested Haven Lake as she didn't do surgery. Cat had all bad teeth and had to be removed. Provided antibiotic chews after teeth extraction. Cat now gums food, but is otherwise fine. Second instance not so good. Called them at 3:15 pm to ask if they could see very sick kitten. I told them I wouldn't be able to make it in before 4 pm. They said that was too late and to go to emergency center. Not very happy as emergency center doesn't open until 6 pm. Sitting in parking lot with sick kitty waiting for hospital to open instead of being waited on by a business that "claims" to be open until 6. Can't recommend any more. Very disappointing.

I got a bill for euthanizing my dog when he died at home before I could transport him in. (I called in and told them just as he died). Be aware that this is a strong indication that teams/departments don't work well together at all and may have serious impact on the care you and your pets receive.

***Avoid wasting your time and money going here! I took my puppy to get an estimate for umbilical hernia surgery. Mind you, my puppy is and will continue to be part of my family and if I want puppies in the future for her, that is my right and I’m entitled to my own decisions. My first and last experience here was horrendous. I decided to go with a higher costing clinic because of my experience here. After being asked where I got my puppy, I told them from a reputable Amish farm in PA and after the Vet made comments insinuating my puppy came from a puppy mill. The Vet and staff made snarky comments when I told them I did not want my miniature poodle spayed during surgery. She asked if I were planning on getting my puppy spayed. When I said no, she told me good luck and I better plan on having $3000 for an emergency c-section. When checking out in the front, the front desk staff were making comments saying “I would hate to be forced to have eight babies”, laugh amongst themselves. All because I want to have the option to let my puppy have her own puppies one day. They weren’t even discreet talking about me and my puppy in the lobby waiting area. So unprofessional! If you want to be treated with any kind of respect, avoid going to this place.

I went there today for the first time and can I say that Audrey Adkins VMD is very extremely rude! When I was asking about the reasoning for her recommendations she scoffed and said, “Your making my life more difficult ”. I can say I have never been treated like that at any other vet that I have been to. I may use them only in an extreme emergency and will not let her treat any of my pets.

Had our sweet boy put down on the 14th of August and he was cremated on the 17th. We've been taking our 2 cats to this vet for over 2 years now. They somehow lost our phone number even though it was in the system and on all the papers we signed and were unable to reach out to us. It's been almost a month and we had to call on the 5th of September just for them to be so nonchalant and say he was ready to be picked up. They told us it could take up to 2 weeks so we were trying to be considerate and not blow them up, assuming that they would be calling us. They're a good clinic but this was absolutely unacceptable.

Started off ok. Dr. Levinson did an echo of my dogs heart as a 2nd opinion. Suggested a 2nd med. All was well until my dog got ehrlichia, at which time I called to speak to Levinson about this and her meds. I called 1x and he was not there so, I relayed the info and they said he would call me. I waited a couple of days...called back. Was told to send an email of records? and I stated that this is not the issue. I just needed to speak w Levinson about my dog, her meds and ehrlichia. They said, again, that he would call. Called today, put on hold for 12 minutes, phone disconnected. Called again and "sue", when asked where Levinson was, said he was limited to his days there. When I asked again where he was, she then said that he was on a leave of absence? She also stated that she called my phone last week and left a message, which she didn't. Ever. She also gave him all the wrong information about why I was calling. So now, I see that Levinson isn't even shown on their practitioners page at all? Now, after spending a ton of money there on a specialist and an echocardiogram, I have a dog with no specialist who just left with no more information. This is a disgrace and, I really don't understand the concept of lying, especially when it has to do with a sick pet. Maybe some training is in order on how to relay information and to not lie.

Dr Levinson is very harsh. My buddy has fluid around his heart, maybe due to a small tumor he can't see. Doc told me he removed the fluid, but it would likely come back, and asked me how many times he would like me to remove the fluid. but it was expensive, couple thousand dollars a shot. I don't understand this. I hope you can he elp my buddy...

I have dealt with a LOT of vet clinic hospitals. This is the best in 60 adult years. It is not cheap, but it is far more reasonable than the “tourist with sick pet” oriented clinics here. Sometimes it is hard to diagnose a pet problem (patient can’t talk you know), and it takes a few visits, but they have always gotten it right eventually. They have never pushed expensive, but likely useless, care on anyone I know. They obviously love pets.

It seems a bit pricey but what vet isn't. However they have been very good to all of our animals. That to me makes it worth it in the end.
