I called to get information of end of life care for my 17 year old cat who has been ill for sometime, it has been difficult and emotional to make the decision to take the steps to keep him from suffering any longer. After many tears I made the call to Haven Lake to schedule an appointment. When I called the man who answered the phone was very smug, he asked for the name on the account and when I told him we have not been seen in the office his reply was "I'm sorry, we don't do that here. We can't help you". The website clearly states that end of life care is a service offered at that "Animal Hospital" and even notes the sensitivity their staff offers in this very hard position. I felt very dismissed by the employee and he has made this process all the more difficult with his lack of compassion. I can't speak on the care that the vet's offer but I can say the staff needs training on compassion and basic human decency.

I went there for the first time last week for a biopsy and the dog has loose stools and small amount of blood at the end it seems like from pushing harder. I met the most rude obnoxious vet ever. Because I never used flea meds she would not even speak to me. I have owned dogs for 40 years, lived up north until 6 weeks ago and have never had a flea. She then told me I was not a good fit for their office and would not answer any questions for me $250 later. She also told me my dog had horrible skin to which I said she is finally looking alot better and as I tried to explain what happend this past year she walked out of the room saying I was not a good fit for their office and never came back to speak to me, She had a vet tec come in and tell me there was no cancer in the sample she took. I called there today to say the loose stools and blood were not any better and although I asked not to have the same vet again she called me back saying I am not a fit for their office She has refused to give me another pack of the meds. I said you would not even let me answer a question and she said your right I was frustrated and not listening to you. I was told by the person who answered the phone that she is the owner People in town tell me she is not but I am not able to talk to the owner The vet I saw obviously cares more about $$ than animals when she would let one bleed and possible dehydrate.

The vets are great. The front staff are unfriendly and always seem like you are an inconvenience for them. To get them to loosen up and smile is very difficult. They make you feel like a second class citizen. I do like the vets though. I wish they'd fire their front desk personnel or find out which ones are the bad apples and send them on their way. Then the whole experience would be great. Been going to them for a few years now. It's always the same.

I'd like to say that the great care my dog Grace received at Haven Lake, Dr Kathy Francis was remarkable. Dr Francis gave Grace every opportunity to thrive, she never gave up. Her medical staff gave us the utmost care and compassion. I highly recommend Dr Francis and her medical team.

The receptionist Sandra was so rude when I called , I explained that my dog was suffering from a UTI and a friend tested his urine and it was positive the exact same thing they did for my dog today when they tested his urine she stated my story was entertaining to her and made me feel like I was stupid for testing his urine myself. I was also told by the veterinarian that if I were to just come in once she wouldn't be as invested in me and my dog verse us being a ongoing patient. To be honest I was very uncomfortable while I was there. Prices are outrageous!

If you embrace full voice-mail machines, leaving messages and not talking to a live person, welcome to haven by the lake. And when you do speak to a live person, its as if you have done something to them to speak to you rudley and in haste. When you email them you might obtain an error message. So how are you supposed to get your pet scheduled? Guess what it doesn't matter to them. Those that were chosen to obtain assistance are fortunate. I would never recommend this place to anyone. Its a "pick and choose who "we want to help" place. Error : the place is called haven lake animal hospital not haven by the lake. For all they care, you & your pet can jump in a lake.

I had an excellent experience with Haven Lake animal hospital when my pet had an emergency. We spent the weekend at Delmarva ER for sand impaction, and on Monday when my pup needed another day of monitoring and care, Haven Lake was able to take her for the day, even though we weren't an established patient. Dr. Francis thoroughly reviewed the records from Delmarva, even taking the time to show me the X-rays of how the sand was progressing through the digestive track and gave me reassurance that she would be ready to go by the end of the day. She even offered to keep my dog in a quiet part of the hospital for her to rest, given she had spent 48 hours in chaos at Delmarva. I am super grateful for the care and compassion Haven Lake staffed showed me and my dog. Highly recommend.

The doctors are great here; however I'm sick and tired of the front desk people. Especially (unfortunately I do not remember the lady's name and it's not worth remembering) however she wears thick black glasses; every-time we have come in there she always has an attitude and treats us as if we are stupid. I'm really considering another vet. We first started brining our cat here a couple years ago and the vet was great, staff was shitty. We got a puppy German Shepard (who is today Oct 1 8-months old, but he is a big boy, who we are still in training with). Seems the last few times over the 8-months we have come there with him, we deal with said person and nothing but rude and talking down to us. It's old!!!!! If you're so miserable find some other profession. Needless to say I'm pissed how my wife was treated once again today by this woman. We also have multiple bank accounts; one of which we use just for paying monthly bills, we wrote a check out of the wrong account as we had the checkbooks mixed up. Check came back. We called and paid immediately as we only deposit money in said account when we pay for monthly bills. We got treated like shit for the mix up, even though the bill was immediately taken care of. We are in a very big dilemma; deal with front desk staff (and this lady) and be treated like shit to stay with the vet/doctors we like......or roll the dice and find someplace else. Oh and if Haven lake reads this. Our cat is Orange and our dog is Randor. So you know which people exactly we are, as I'm not afraid if you do know. I'm that genuinely pissed. The nurse who gave our dog the Lyme shot was very friendly and nice. We had to keep the dog outside as (he and I stood in the rain) as he was so rambunctious and excited. That he was howling and working up the other dogs, hey rightfully so I have no problem with that. The other patrons and their pets shouldn't have to deal with dog that is so overly excited that it's causing distress amongst them, so I have no complaints there. This is treatment by the front desk is getting very F-ing old. We don't want to go, maybe when I calm down I can think this through logically. Also if you look at my past reviews I rarely ever post anything negative or bad about any company and when I do (like this) I do point out the positives too. The nurse staff and the vets are awesome. Front desk sucks!!!! Hence 2 stars And glasses lady cheer up life and so bad to talk down to people and treat them like shit all the time

I have been going here for years with various animals. And I go other places for specialists. But TODAY, I am so thankful that Haven Lake is there for me and my boy Louie. I had an emergency to get blood work run ASAP to determine what was wrong with my boy. They got me in, got enough blood for both in house and to send out and Dr. Adkins is coordinating with Louie's internist. I was able to get a diagnosis and get started on treatment within 24 hours. Thank you to all the receptionists, the Vet Technicians, and Vets in this hospital.

Gave them one more chance and will definitely not return. Dr. Francis tried to make us feel like we were horrible people for taking our dog there for care. Very uncaring attitude.

We originally had an appointment on Friday for our dog. However, on Tuesday night, he got much worse, so we called first thing Wednesday. They made room for us that morning. Dr. Coon was very nice, calming, and explained everything to us in an easy to understand manner. The visit, including meds, was even less expensive than I was anticipating. Thank you Haven Lake staff.
