Went for a basketball game just for fun and there was a small group and then we were forcefully kicked off for a group to play full court and then when we went to tell a member of staff they ignored our complaints and disregarded it completely to tell us that they can play full court just because there is more. Canceled membership after since it isn’t a community welcome place

Male lifeguard who is always there is very condescending, rude, mocking and immature. Plus he is always on his phone. What exactly are the lifeguards job duties? Watching kids in the pool who can't swim? No, no, no. As a parent you must be within arms length even if your child is much taller then the water apparently. They can't be bothered to actually do their jobs, just sit at the table on their phones. Very annoyed with my experience with the pool staff.$80 a month to be treated like a criminal and good luck tying to swim and get your exercise in. Also, no hot tubs? And just one indoor pool for all of middletown? Not a very wise decision.

The amenities and equipment are nice; however, we had a rude encounter with one of the female front desk associates. My daughter and I ventured outside to take a stroll on the grass back by where the outdoor pools are located. There were no signs posted that would lead me to believe the area was restricted. Long story short, we ended up getting locked outside. Luckily my wife was close by and was able to let us back inside the building. Once back inside, we were then approached by the staff member who was extremely accusatory and rude about why we went outside. I simply stated I took my one year old daughter outside to walk on the grass and I was unaware that the doors would be locked as there were no signs posted. Unfortunately, this encounter was enough for us to cancel our membership. Not sure why this individual couldn’t have approached us in a more understanding fashion.

I recently had a tour of this branch and I could not believe how mismanaged the facility was. There were more than a dozen of teens by the front doors yelling, swearing, pushing each out. Inside wasn't much better. When we were shown the basketball courts, it was more of the same. I asked why there are so many out of control teens and I was told once they hit 12, they just get dropped off with no parent. At one time the YMCA prided itself on family values and felt safe and inviting. I guess those days are long gone. It is a shame as the facility was really nice. There is no way I am paying well over $100 a month for a gym membership with so many out of control youth. No doubt the inflated membership costs go to subsidize membership for those ruining the branch for paying members. What a shame.

The facility is nice, modern in clean. Many of the staff are very nice, knowledgeable, and helpful. This facility has a lot of potential that is let down by a major problem. The facility is overrun by young teens that are left unsupervised for hours on end with no parents on-site. There are many fights (especially at the basketball courts). Additionally, in the afternoons and evenings after school is out, there are regularly large groups of extremely foul mouthed teens loitering by the entrance and at times in the hallways. They run around pushing each other while loudly cursing, yelling, and screaming and make a very unsafe atmosphere - especially for children. Members have to walk through this mess to get in and out of the building and it is ridiculous. I have never seen problems as bad as this at any other YMCA.Senior management continues to turn a blind eye and it is a shame as it is ruining Middletown's longer overdue YMCA. Many staff members also have regular confrontations with these problematic youth and/or are bullied by them and are not given the authority to handle the situations properly (kicking them out). Things get so out of hand, Middletown police are frequently called but nothing is going to change unless the root of the problem is addressed.Senior YMCA management needs to take action and get this facility under control and value their paying customers over packs of unsupervised teens with severe behavior problems.

The facility is good, but they are not good to handle billing. If you request a cancellation of membership they will find excuses to delay.

Best YMCA in Delaware Hands Down. Modern Equipment, Spacious, Clean, Has 2 floors, Sauna is very nice, and has a Great Gym for Basketball and Pickleball. Has Lots of Classes for all types of fitness. Has Daycare/Childcare for your kids, and also has an Outdoor Functional Fitness area, where it extends outside so you can workout when the weather is nice. Has both Indoor and outdoor pools and a STEM Room for Learning for kids. Highly Recommended.
