I brought my very sick 11 yo Newfoundand in as an emergency visit. I knew the ultimate outcome would be to euthanize her. They were very kind and helped me through the process. The Vet, unfortunately I forget her name, was very kind she even let me look at Nana's X-rays to help me accept the inevitably of my decision which was extremely helpful. The euthanasia, although very difficult, was a respectful process. I would recommend highly. The physical plant is not attractive, but the care was excellent.

I can't tell you how frantic I was when I brought my 3 year old cat here. He couldn't pee. He was crying every time he tried. He kept making trips to the box and sitting in there for a long time and not voiding. He was blocked with crystals. He needed a catheter. They monitored him through the night and made him comfortable. Then he was transferred to my vet the next day to be monitored and back here the following evening still with the catheter. Afterward, another day at my vet, and finally, I was able to bring him home. He did well for 2 days but started with the tiny pee and blood in his urine. So back to here. These people genuinely care. Thankfully, he wasn't blocked this time but just had pain from the catheter. He was sent home with meds. He is doing well so far. Realistically, I know the outcome could have been very different. I also know it can happen again. I feel my kitty got top-notch care. I really want to thank all of you. The only negative thing about this experience is not being able to go in with my cat. They are still following the flu protocol. To watch them take my cat and have to wait in the car for news about his condition was very difficult.

I wish I could have provided a better review because the ladies who assisted me the night/morning I brought my dog in were very caring and empathetic. You could tell they care about the animals and the owners. I had my dog cremated and received a text that his remains were back. I called the emergency center on 1/10/24 at 12:10 pm and spoke to someone who was very nice. I explained to her that I saw that the business didn't open until 6pm, but that I lived an hr away and had an appointment in Dover at 4:15pm. I didn't get her name but she informed me that it was ok for me to come by after my appointment even though they didn't open until 6pm; she told me to just knock on the door. Today (1/11/24), I get here at approx.5:15pm after leaving my appointment and knock on the door like she instructed me to do. A man came to the door, opened it on a small crack and I explained to him what the lady said to me yesterday. His response to me was, we're in a meeting and we don't open until 6. I explained to him again that the woman instructed me to come and knock on the door to get my dog's ashes and he blew me off again by saying, we're in a meeting and we don't open until 6. I called into the facility after 6 to try to explain to the situation to the person on the phone and they were rude and cut me off while I was talking and kept saying that we don't open until 6pm. 2 staff were outstanding and the other 2 were pitiful and need to improve their customer service skills. The lady who brought out the ashes was nice as well so 3 people in the building are respectful.

We rushed our sick girl, Cue, to Delmarva late Christmas Eve into Christmas morning, and met with Dr. Jennifer Scheidt. She's a great listener, is gentle and warm, and very clearly communicates what she's seeing and the path forward. She and the team got to work immediately to help Cue. Our Angel wound up passing away with them a few hours later, but not before Dr. Jennifer and the team did everything they could to save her. Our chests feel like black holes, but we are eternally grateful for their efforts to help Cue.***To Dr. Jennifer and team -Cue had the biggest heart in the world, and we've promised to remind each other "WWCD" (What Would Cue Do?) for the rest of our lives. We don't know how yall have the strength to do what you do day after day, but we believe yall embody WWCD. THANK YOU, and be great. <3

On Christmas morning, we had to take our cat here to be euthanized. We called before we left our house and again when we arrived as we were instructed to do. At that point we were told someone would be out in a few minutes to get our girl ready. We waited patiently in the parking space directly in front of the door for 30+ minutes after our arrival. There were no other cars in front of the building and someone walked by the inside entry door several times. Finally Jo saw us, came outside and we told her what was going on. She immediately walked back inside and helped us with an extremely difficult moment. Inside we were treated very compassionately, but the wait was harrowing. We had to say goodbye on a day that was supposed to be a happy one. Sadly the lack of concern by the staff as we waited didn't make this any easier. Our thanks to Jo and Dr. Gruber who helped her to cross the rainbow bridge. 1 star for waiting as we did, 4 stars for care.

This place has some pros and cons.Just like every emergency clinic(both human and pet) wait times can be very stressful and long. The staff are extremely good about handling stressed pet owners. My cat needed to be unblocked and catheterized for his cystotomy the next day and I could not find somewhere that would leave the catheter in for us to take him home. Delmarva did.Delmarva was willing to work with us on the price and even dropped off some unnecessary stuff due to the recent veterinary care my cat had already been receiving. They verified with us that the medicines he was already on would not interfere with what they would be giving him.The only real cons I can see would be that they don't allow the pet owners to come in and the wait time. I arrived at about 5 and my cat with an active urinary blockage and already present elevated kidney levels had to wait until 7:30 until I could do the intake paperwork. I had called 6 times within that time frame to remind the vets that we were there. The good news is that immediately after putting in the intake paperwork, they came and got my cat and went through a rundown of exactly what they would be doing, how they would do it, and kept an updated tally of the price for me. They cleared everything they were doing, as they were doing it.This was also on a Saturday night, where most vets have a 6-10 hour wait for emergencies.

I would have to agree with the last 2 reviews, do not take your pet here. It’s a bit of a clown show. You can’t take your pets in and they do not triage dogs in terms of need. Won’t go in to my dog is specifics, but it wasn’t good. The personnel move at a leisurely pace and the only thing thing they seem reasonably focused on is your bill and that you pay immediately. If you have serious concerns, understand, chances are this clinic will not share those concerns and treat your pet (and you) accordingly. Go to Blue Pearl if you need medical care. Many may think “that’s in Newark.” Honestly, it beats sitting in their parking lot getting no help. You will get more timely service and better answers there. This clinic survives, not by choice, but from a lack of options.

Staff is so kind and caring. Emergency rooms visits are always stressful and yes I had to wait 5 hours on a weekend night to be seen but they were as communicative and helpful as possible - they are working hard to help everyone with a pet emergency - I would recommend anyone to come here
