My wife went to the Big Lots in Dover, Delaware to return some product that was damaged. She even told them that they did not need to get a refund, they could just swap out for the same items, and they refused. She was told first that they "didn't want to take the financial hit of a return" because she bought it at a different store, and that each store is independently owned. She was then told they could not accept it because it was food. Then, she was told they could not refund her because it was from another state and they had no way to refund the taxes from another state because Delaware is a tax-free state. These reasons were all given by two separate MANAGERS, JEN and JEFF. They lied to her face. The return policy states that you can return an item as long as you have the receipt and the package is returned in its original condition. In fact, she was able to take this product to another store the next day, and the store manager Dwight at the Big Lots in New Castle refunded her money and the taxes. She was also informed by several managers at other stores that the return should not have been an issue. Please avoid this store at any cost if you need to return something, as these two MANAGERS just do not want to deal with the headache. Horrible customer service. They would rather lose the sales for the items she was prepared to buy instead of giving her a $20 refund. Shame!

Very very rude cashiers and lazy left me standing there for 20 minutes because they had something priced on the shelf that they thought was wrong she told me to move to the side while they figured it out so they could finish checking the others out and while I was standing and waiting the cashier was having a full conversation with a customer while I’ve BEEN standing there waiting I had already paid for one thing so I asked if I could just have what I paid for and leave instead of waiting for them to find out if what I was buying that was on the shelf was priced right or not and she got very rude with an attitude and said “She told me to give it to you at that price” but had a very rude snappy tone and then she threw my receipt in the bag when I was actually holding my hand out reaching for it such rude rude workers.

We purchased a loveseat with two recliners and we got the insurance as well. The recliner came broken, the back of one recliner lays way back. I Called the store, Dover DE, he said looks like you bought the insurance and I said yes. He said you need to contact them. I called them and was told if it came broken the store needs to replace it. Called the store and went through the story again. After back and forth with the store and insurance several times. The store said they would replace it. After dozens of calls to the store following up when the replacement would arrive and being told another 6-8 weeks after a year we just gave up. Don’t purchase from this place they don’t back their products and sell you insurance that doesn’t work.

This has been the laziest Big Lots I’ve ever been to!!!! A bunch of employees walking around with their heads in phones and ignoring customers!! Let’s not talk about the bathroom!! It was a sewage dump!! They haven’t cleaned it in months!! Flies everywhere!! Toilet paper on the floor and no soap!! I couldn’t even use it!! They just need to get rid of the whole store

Prices up, but still find unusual items here, esp. in food. Nonregional, discont'd, otherwise not commonly found at groceries. It's like a food flea market.

The furniture manager was so kind and accommodating even though we didn’t realize they closed earlier than google had listed on Sundays. We picked out a table and he had it in on a cart within 5 minutes and helped us load it onto the truck bed. Fantastic service, fair prices, and such accommodating employees. We will definitely be back for future purchases.
