USPS is asking for trouble and we are the ones who'll pay the price. They are purposely obstructing the goals of 90% of those calling USP. USPS has set up long AI generated phone menus to keep people from reaching any staff member. Then if you do use the menus, you may be placed on hold for long stretches and then their system simply hangs up on you. I tried to reach a staff member for 4 hours today. I'm a law abiding nonviolent person who finds nonviolent ways to cope with frustration. I write. Others choose other conduct when frustrated. I'd suggest that the USPS find ways to allow the public to access staff to discuss issues. If they don't, and if they continue on the path they are on, the results might be disastrous-but that does not mean disastrous for the post office. It could be. But it could also be disastrous for other people in other settings. That's because violent person who become frustrated don't necessarily take their frustrations out on those who frustrate them. They may harm others in other settings that are more accessible to them. USPS wants to stop paying staff and doesn't care if it screws the public to save money by using AI. But the savings goes into the pockets of very few-and not to the public and not to workers. The USPS is creating a problematic climate that harms society. The savings may be to a few execs in USPS who have obscene salaries. But the cost is to us.USPS is purposely obstructing the goal of 90% of those calling or seeking to contact USPS. They know most people calling USPS want to talk to a staff member. They are setting up systems to keep tax payers (who are mandated to provide financial support to the post office) from reaching their goal of contacting USPS. Don't be surprised when people react negatively to their goals being obstructed. This is how I deal with frustration. By writing. But most people choose other means, as we have seen.

If you're an LC staff member, be warned this location no longer offers packing tape for staffers who have to get through security - pre-pandemic this location had packing tape since those of us using the First Street tunnel entrance had to open packages to get through security. That no longer seems to be the case, or at least the person working today had no idea what I was talking about and told me they have no tape.

Got my stamps successfully. It's one floor down from the main lobby, turn right when exiting the elevators, and the USPS will be on your left.

I called the Post Office located in the Longworth House building to ask a simple question and the woman had the worst attitude as if she couldn't be bothered to actually work while on the job. Maybe because government employees are harder to fire.

The Longworth House Office Building Post Office is quite simply the best US Post Office I have encountered anywhere. The lines move quickly, the staff is friendly and they always have an abundance of stamps and mailing supplies. Mail is dispatched in the morning and after 4:00 p,m, in the afternoon. Staff will provide a special manual cancellation if you ask for it. The post office is located in the basement of the Longworth Building, but is open to the public. You will have to go through security upon entering the Capitol complex. It is easily reached by tunnel from the Cannon and Rayburn buildings.

This Post Office is located inside the Department of Labor Building. You have to go through the visitor's entrance. I walked all around the outside of the building before realizing this and was very frustrated. Come to find out that they take an hour lunch break at 1:20-2:30 M-F. They are not open on Saturday. I gave it 1 star because of the terrible location. Who wants to go through security in order to mail a F***** envelope?
