Bruce was great from the very beginning! He was quick to respond to my inquiry. He tried to help me over the phone right away in case it was something simple. When it turned out to be more, he came to my house to diagnose the issue. When it was found to be more than he could fix quickly in-site, he took my laptop with him to repair. He kept me updated along the way and made me feel very comfortable.In our initial conversation he told me, "I respect your data and will make sure to keep it in tact", this was what solidified my decision to use him. The repair was secondary, recovering my data was my top priority- and he did just that!! My laptop is back up and running and all my data has been restored. Thank you, a million times, THANK YOU, Bruce!!

I CANNOT recommend Bruce Maliken's "Up and Running Services" for computer assistance. The issues I came to him for help with, were at a minimum, very basic. It is obvious he is quite knowledgeable about computers; however, he is NOT savvy with people skills and understanding the needs of end-users who are intimidated by technology. He was condescending, patronizing and, at times, came across to me as bored. I picked up on his exasperation over my lack of computer skills and felt within the time I interacted with him that he could hardly wait to finish with me. I truly wish I had NEVER reached out to him and hired him. He was not worth what I paid him. When I shared with my friends my experience with him, they were appalled and said, in their opinion, that I had been ripped off by this man. I agree.

Upand Running was reliable, fast and easy to use. Windows stopped working on my laptop, and I was worried about losing some of my files. Bruce from Upand Running responded to my request for help within an hour and was willing to work on the computer at my convenience. I left it with him on a Sunday afternoon, and he delivered the fixed computer to my house the very next day at no extra charge. (He was doing errands in the neighborhood.) The price was very reasonable, the service was reliable, and the laptop is working very well. Other services will hold on to your computer for days or weeks. Bruce had mine for less than 24 hours. I highly recommend his services--and would use him again in a heartbeat.

In trying to correct a Windows problem, I messed up access to my laptop, so that I couldn't start it at all. Bruce Maliken was recommended by contributors to the Cleveland Park and Chevy Chase listservs, so I contacted him. He was practical, creative, and fast, gaining access to remove defective software and re-install the operating system. Bruce was easy to communicate with and knowledgeable, and I feel he went out of his way to charge less than might have been justified.

I've hired Bruce Maliken at Up and Running Services since 2008 to deal with a number of things (I'm a transportation security consultant and my laptop and connectivity is vital to my work and to my clients). The tasks ranged from advice on which laptops to get, which programs to use and where to buy them. He's helped me get rid of viruses and malware that were once crippling, deal with software interface problems, helped install software to protect them, and done dozens of simple and complex tasks for nearly 12 years. He is VERY responsive, easy to deal with, top notch technical knowledge, and besides, he has a nice first name (My name is Bruce too). Hey seriously, you can't go wrong. Big thing or little thing, he's the guy to call -- can do most things remotely which really helps and the prices are very reasonable. Highly recommend Up and Running

I'm almost happy when I need computer support. I learn more from the coaching I receive from Bruce while he solves my problem than from any technical article I've ever read. He responds virtually immediately to my SOS, often fixing the glitch over the phone while declining any fee. He is warm, caring, uses words I can understand, has never made me feel stupid and his fee structure is reasonable and under market prices. His business card is the single most valuable tool I have in my computer tool kit.

I was preparing for a very important presentation when my PCU crashed and was completely unresponsive. You can imagine my panic that I was going to completely blow it with a big client. Thank God I had heard of Up and Running Computer Services from one of my clients. Bruce showed up in less than an hour, calmed me down, did a complete assessment of my system, and got me up an running without losing all my work. But best of all, he diagnosed the problem (one too many thunderstorm power surges) and provided my with hardware to protect my computer from future power issues. Now, whenever I have a computer question, I ask Bruce first. Up and Running is where I tell all my friends to go for expert, personal, and professional service... when you need it most!

Bruce is patient, calm, smart, and knowledgable. He is available and responsive and has rescued our computer messes many times over the years. He is so pleasant to work with and is so completely nonjudgmental when working with every kind of computer expert or computer idiot.
