“I have used this storage service for years. Prior to the COVID-19 PANDEMIC, I was able to return to the states and take some of my belongings out. Many times I needed assistance with making payment arrangements, boxes, locks, a problem with my unit or anything, the manager or other staff members were always there to assist me. There is always Metropolitan Police in the area, which is across the street from the baseball stadium. Back in the day, I used to be stationed at the Barracks, worked at the Naval Yard and lifted at 3rd & M Street. So, when I go into the area now I have my ears and eyes open because I know the deal. I don't get locked in because I have my door code with me. I roll during the day light hours....only! You gotta be "streetwise" today no matter who you are. But the Manager and the other staff have always treated me with respect. I guess because no matter my situation at this site, I always give them respect, and I don't act like I am "privileged". “An acceptable place to return a trailer in the DC area A husband and wife launched U-Haul as a business in 1945. This truck and trailer rental service has grown to a large organization that has 23000 locations across the United States. We recently rented a small trailer to move some items to a location in DC. I have rented and returned from other locations but I have never returned an item to this location before. But like most people, I know that I do not use U-Haul very often. The location for this site is on the southwest corner of New York Ave NE and Bladensburg Ave NE. The area seems a little older than others but this place is easy to identify with a lot of trailers in a flat lot right next to the road. The entrance sign is well-marked. There is an open-air covered area to drive your return right up next to the building. It took a few minutes but a staff member came out to help us unhook the trailer and inspect it. Turn-in was that easy. I was impressed and happy that it was efficient and quick. Even with having to wait a few minutes for someone to come out, I was done and checked out in less than 15 minutes.”
