We came here for my wife's birthday to buy her a full yukata. We had been there 4 years prior purchasing some small earthwares that were gorgeous. Everything inside was so beautiful and you can tell the craftsman and store owner took pride in their art. She was also amazing with my wife helping her pick out the perfect yukata showcasing the perfect customer service you see in Japan. We HIGHLY recommend Tokiya Japan and are loyal customers.

The store is clean and well decorated. They offer a lot of Japanese hand made tableware. And many kimonos and clothing from Japan. The owner is friendly and helpful.

I haven’t been in person to their shop, but they also have online ordering of special kaiseki Japanese meals. It was amazing! I stumbled upon this and ordered for a special occasion. What a delightful and unique experience. Kaiseki meals delivered to your door (shidashi style, which is like fancy to-go bento box), and they come by later to pick up the reusable ceramic containers. Don’t expect a meal with a pile of food, but rather delicious ingredients prepared in a very thoughtful and tasty way.

Wonderful Japanese boutique right next to Hana Market at the intersection of 17th and U St NW. They specialize in pottery and have a great variety of beautiful cups/plates/dishes/bowls made in the owner's home town. They also have a small, but very nice, selection of other Japanese goodies (traditional clothing, jewelery, odds and ends). I highly recommend checking out this store and talking with the owner if she is around.

We placed an order for shidashi for our New Year's Day celebration. Everything about this delivered meal was absolutely fantastic! Excellent service, the level of detail and care that went into all of components of this meal were outstanding and the food was delicious and perfect! The pottery is beautiful and the entire presentation from the packing of the meal to the arrangement of the food was exquisite. We recommend Tokiya Japan without any hesitation and will definitely order again!

Such a wonderful little shop. A must visit if you're into pottery! They really had some amazing works of art. I loved the little cups I got. Apparently they will also have workshops/seminars.

I visited TOKIYA after Christmas and spent time being educated by the very helpful and informative saleslady at the shop. I purchased many beautiful objects and hope to return soon. Thank you TOKIYA JAPAN for being in Washington !

A great shop with a diverse collection of traditional ceramics from Japan--particularly from Toki in Gifu prefecture, a region known for its pottery. In addition to plates, cups, bowls, platters, tea pots, and macha bowls, the shop also sells kimono. It's great to browse the collection, which changes often as the owner brings new items from different artisans in that region of Japan. The items are beautiful and the value is good considering the pieces are one-of-a-kind and each come with an interesting story.

Super cute new spot along U street! Lots of high quality decently priced items all sourced from the owners home town in Japan. The shop is cute and the owner is such a nice person. My son and I wandered in on our evening stroll - I'll definitely be back to check into some of the sake and tea sets.
