The employees were friendly, warm, and approachable! The staff was knowledgeable of the product and fabrics. The new performance fabric blazers made of Peruvian cotton is a great casual alternative to the traditional blazer…. This is an exceptional store!

I initially faced some issues at State and Liberty, particularly with a tailoring concern. However, I'm pleased to report a significant improvement in my experience. Their recent customer service has been commendable.The staff promptly addressed my tailoring issue, showing a high level of professionalism and commitment to customer satisfaction. This response has restored my confidence in their service. I originally left a 1-star review but after speaking with one of S&L's customer care representatives, Conor, I am amending it. My 1-star review was due to both timeline promises not kept and a poor quality suit that was not wearable.I requested (and was granted) a full refund. After processing the refund, Conor called me to get my feedback and apologize that the experience I had was not up to the company's standards. I appreciated his outreach and the sincerity of his commitment to offering all S&L customers excellent quality and service.Because of that conversation, I am convinced that State & Liberty will go above and beyond to ensure that their customers have the best experience possible. If you buy from here and it's not perfect, reach out to them and they will make it right.The suit wasn't for me, but I also bought "The Springer" dress shirt which fits great and feels amazing.

Went in today to get a suit for a business occasion and received outstanding service. The sales agent I worked with had an impressive mustache and an even more impressive knowledge. I'm 6'6" tall and broad shouldered so I needed a few alterations from the tailor right down the street. The issue was I needed it done by Monday the following week. The sales agent called and made sure I can come in and get it done and it worked out wonderful. Great customer service and people. For all those leaving bad reviews, remember, your CAN fix your bad attitude, and attitude is everything. The humans that work there are absolutely wonderful and very knowledgeable. Thank you for your wonderful work.

Poor customer service and return policy. Spending over $90 on a single dress shirt should warrant a good return policy. WARNING ⛔️! If you try on a shirt, it is considered wearing it, therefore you can not return it!I bought a shirt and the body and arms felt great, but the neck was too small, so I called to return the shirt. The associate said I could return it, even after explaining the situation, but then when I brought it in there were “signs of it being worn” to which I replied, yea I tried it on and found out my neck was swimming in the collar.Long story short, I could either pay an additional $40 to get the collar tailored by THEIR tailor (total of $130 for 1 shirt) or order a custom shirt that would take 5-6 weeks to be made and cost $150!These shirts are nice, but they better be perfect for the price, and they are not! And worst of all, you can’t return them if you just try them on.

Where do I even begin?I am getting married on November 4, 2023 and in June of 2023, State and Liberty hooked us up! Aishah, Ebony, and Tyra are amazing at what they do and are also amazing individuals. These women fitted my groomsmen and myself; I am beyond pleased.But on September 23, 2023 my best friend and my best man passed away unexpectedly...there are no words to describe the loss. The world is definitely a bit dimmer without Sean Buford.I called State and Liberty to inform them Sean's suit would be needed earlier; the wedding suit turned into a funeral suit. When I went to pick up Sean's suit, I was overwhelmed with love and absolute empathy. I cried, for my friend and for the fact there are still KIND PEOPLE and KIND COMPANIES in the world.From the bottom of my heart I want to thank Aishah, Ebony, and Tyra. You have made a personal impact on me in one of my darkest moments. Thank you for your love and compassion. I am forever grateful that fate brought me to y'all. I love you all.-Scott

I am more than happy with my experiences at the State Of Liberty store in DC. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the construction of the suit is well worth the price.The material they use is stretchy and very comfortable even after working all day on the office. It has a slimming effect that I appreciate and will be very helpful in the humid DC summers.For context I bout a blazer, vest, 3 shirts and a tie my first visit and came back to get two more suits one of which is in a lovely green color which is notoriously difficult to find in menswear

Ebony and staff were incredible! truly 'old fashioned' customer service, nothing was too much, everything was explained, detailed, knowledgeable, and extremely friendly! they know their products and service the customer. definitely will be back.

State and Liberty clothing company had me send back the pants so their tailor can fix the faulty zipper at no cost. I got my pants back in time for my next formal event and I could tell the new zipper was not going to let me down. The entire suit held up to a wedding and night of dancing. Based on the amazing customer service, they've regained my trust in their brand again.

I went in to try on a light grey suit. It fit okay, but the store representative talked me into a custom suit. So I spent time to go back, get a fitting and order a custom suit. It took 7 weeks to arrive. When I went to try it on, it was at least one size too small. She tried to talk me into just taking it, then perhaps just letting them re-cut a new custom suit and another 4 -6 weeks waiting, I said no. She then offered to just let me take an off the rack suit and refund the difference from the custom to the off the rack. Summary, I spent extra time to get measured, paid and waited for 7 weeks, got a suit that was completely incorrectly sized and settled for an off the rack at the original price. How is this any kind of customer service. By the way, a week later, no refund still.

Bought a suit and 2 shirts. While some tailoring while still needed to fit my body type was thrilled at the fit and the limited modifications needed.More importantly, I found the customer service to be simply sensational. The company has been timely and the staff went very out of there way to ensure I had a pleasant shopping experience and take care of their customers. Even if the clothes end up not being for you, you should at least check them out because the service (especially when compared to other off-the-rack stores) is phenomenal.

I bought a "made to order" heathered charcoal suit from them and I loved the color and that the suit is nice and stretchy. It had a bit of pilling after the initial couple of wears but nothing major. The waist to shoulder ratio, in my estimation, is around 1.3 which is not bad but not exactly conducive to a lifter with lower end body fat– it would be nicer if they offered a more athletic fit. If you have a higher ratio than 1.3 (shoulder width divided by waist) I would recommend getting some minor additional tailoring. The shirts and blazers are also very tight on the arms, I'm not sure if by design but it's not the worst thing in the world because at least everything stretches and if it does bother you, the blazer's allow for a half inch to be taken out (great for guys who skip abs and love pumping the bis and tris).
