A nice hotel! But it’s definitely not 5 stars, I think this is more like 3 stars. There’s no parking available, the rooms are decent size but the decor is not very inviting. I will say the location of the hotel is great walking distance to all landmarks. Service was great.

Excellent location. All the attractions are less than a mile from the hotel. We spend 4 days celebrating my wife's 50th birthday and she loved it. Even the hotel surprised her with an edible arrangement in the room!!!. We arrived 2.5 hours early to the hotel and the room was ready and they checked us in.

We wouldn't return. It was okay. Rooms are clearly showing wear, especially the bathrooms. If you have a 1990s landline phone in your hotel bathroom, it's time for an update. One of our rooms had a couch with stains on it. Mixed reviews on the beds (firm mattresses). Rooms were quiet and location was ideal if you want to do touristy things. I'd keep looking for another option.

Very nice hotel, safe and right downtown. Close to the White House, just a walk away. Very helpful staff... remember to tip your housekeeper!

Generally enjoyed our long weekend at the Sofitel. Room (upgraded corner king) was comfortable and well furnished, with plenty of windows but good blackout shades for sleeping. Staff were helpful and responsive. Location was fantastic, with plenty of nearby restaurants and easy walks to museums, monuments, and Metro. A few minor quibbles here and there: steam iron in room was broken and leaking (only discovered after dripping all over shirt); small lobby was sometimes crowded, especially with people attending corporate events; "urban experience fee" of $35/day included activities we couldn't do (guided run, yoga class) and lame "refreshing afternoon beverage" of fruit-infused water.

Hotel is small and a little run down to be presented as a 5 start hotel. Realistically it's a 4-star property with 5-star staff / service. The property needs to be updated. Location is great. The DC Sofitel Team definitely have a personal touch and effort level you would not find in a non 5 star hotel. The team at the front desk, the bellman, valets, and housekeeping....were all top notch and Sofitel corporate should reward them and management on site accordingly for making the most with what they have been given.

The valet parking group is terrible! The attendant ignored us when we arrived, even though we were stopped at the dropoff point and there were no other cars. For some ridiculous reason, he expected us to walk up to the stand, as if we might not need help with bags. When we checked out, we had to text a number to retrieve our car. The txt reply told us that we needed to pay through our phone (which we did), only to find out that we already paid for it in our hotel bill. I've been trying to get refunded for that extra payment for a week (to no avail). Our jr. suite was also disappointing. Extremely dark room, very worn-out furnishings, and a terribly noisy HVAC unit right near the bed. We had purchased the jr. suite, so we could sleep in a queen size bed and our daughter could sleep on the pull-out couch. The hotel knew this from our reservation, but they did not provide any bedding for the pull-out. When we requested some, we got 2 ill-fitting sheets, and had to put them on ourselves. No kind of heavy blanket, no pillows. Needless to say, she ended up sleeping in the bed with us the whole trip, which defeated the point of the suite. We've stayed at multiple Fairmont properties, and expected to have a similar experience at the Sofitel, since they are in the Accor family. The Sofitel DC did not live up to these standards. It is not even close to a 5-star experience.

Very nice hotel mixing US and French style with an ideal location for visiting WADC. Thanks to Claudia for her warm welcome and kindness. Upgrade to the top with a very beautiful spacious suite, coffee machine and Nespresso capsules (a huge plus for coffee lovers going to the USA), Balmain toiletries, etc... Restaurant level, breakfast is available at the menu with choice and excellent quality cuisine, and thanks to Paul, a waiter who takes great care with his customers. There is just the room which is too small for my taste for the hotel. Otherwise I really recommend it with I think good value for money. Finally, it's a shame that there isn't more attention for All Diamond customers like in other Sofitels.

Sofitel was a nice hotel located in a nice area of Washington D.C. The rooms were a decent size (small fridge in the wait area, two showers in the bathroom and bed). No microwave, though. The real reason for such a low review is for the lack of customer service and transparency on fees and services.Be weary that when you book at the Sofitel, you will be charged an additional $35 “urban experience” fee per day. My fiancé and I booked an impromptu trip here for two nights. Upon arrival we asked about parking. The front desk person let us know that we would be charged an additional $65 fee per night for parking- which we were ok with paying - along with $100 deposit per night for incidentals to the room (This would have been a good opportunity to inform us anything else we would see on the bill). We looked at the bill when we got home and see there was an additional $60 in fees added under an “urban experience fee”. We called to speak with them and we come to find out this is an additional fee they added daily, which would have enabled us to get discounts on laundry, coffee, and more. We were never told of this $30 daily fee and probably would have taken more advantage of the services to justify such an absurd hidden charge. We are not complaining of the charge but of the inability to clearly inform guests on what to expect on their bill and relying solely on them to read fine print. It feels like they chose to avoid the mention - probably because they know how ridiculous the fee is anyway. To say we will not be staying at Sofitel again is a given as we can pay the same amount elsewhere and be more aware the true cost of staying at the hotel.

When we showed up it was raining. No one came to grab our luggage or offer umbrellas.Once we got there most staff was very nice.Breakfast was good. The rooms are classic, but dated. Definitely needs a refresh. The Urban Adventure fee will hopefully go away once the current administration bans garbage fees. You’re already 75% done making your reservation when that gets tacked on.Ugh..

Excellent location for restaurants, bars, and tourist attractions. Unfortunately the location is the best part of the property. The hotel itself is dated with cramped rooms and bathrooms including very limited closet space. The rooms have not been updated in quite some time which is very clear. The room and linens were clean throughout our stay and the mattresses were comfortable as well as the pillows. My primary dissatisfaction is that this property should not be marketed as 5 stars as the rooms and the staff do not reflect that endorsement. Outside of the dated rooms and bathrooms, the staff never once greeted us throughout our stay and actively ignored us at check in as well as check out. No one offered to help with our bags, our car, or to help arrange anything within the city during our three day stay. Additionally, without a doorman, a spa, a pool, a lunch option, double sinks, check in refreshments, other amenities, this property should not be considered as 5 stars. By far the biggest considerations should be treatment of guests by staff as well as the quality and upkeep of the rooms which were both lacking. For the price it’s typically a good value but should no longer carry a 5 star rating without significant updates.

Nice comfy beds and beautiful bathrooms. But this hotel is not even close to a 5 star luxury, 4 at best. Nice Hotel but has some shortcomings.Rooms: Nice comfy room and 55” tv. The only problem is you can’t view the tv from the couch because the wires are too short. Room does not come with a refrig or microwave but they will bring them up only if you ask.Noteworthy details: There really is no lobby at this location. Just a padded bench in a hallway they call a lobby.
