Look it's a Smithsony, it's gonna rock. This last visit we came for the free butterfly experience, which was fantastic to see all the colorful bugs flapping around and enjoying the flowers and the mist. There's also a lot of other bugs nearby to explore, and my youngest kid went bonkers over the animal section downstairs. Definitely plan a day or two for it!

Way to much woke agenda. Just show it off and keep your opinions to yourself

Great information and lots of interactives for kids to be more ingaged! Really need to have something available in the giftshops regarding the Mummy exhibit, kiddos wanted to get something to learn more. Also disappointed that half the shops were completely closed for inventory...it was NOT stated on their website! Had we known, we would have planned to come a different day because we could tell from the windows, each shop had different things and most of the items available in the gift shops are NOT available through the online store. Perhaps in one of the closed shops was something about the Mummy Exhibit the kids were looking for. We did get several excellent books for our homeschool library to keep the learning going at home.

Visited this place on Sunday the 8th of Sep 24 along with family. The display of various animals with their history and artifacts are wonderful. The colourful gems and diamonds section on the second floor was marvelous and a treat to the eyes.It takes you back to the historical Era and their lifestyles. We spent around 3 hours at the museum and which was not at all sufficient. The Smithsonian National Museum is a must visit for every visitor both for its historical information and also to know about the evolution of things etc.

A very big and nice museum with a lot of exhibits and knowledge about them which is maintained very nicely.
You can spend a couple of hours just looking around the exhibit.

The Smithsonian Museum of Natural History is an incredible experience for all ages. The exhibits are vast and fascinating, covering everything from ancient fossils and dinosaurs to gemstones and human history. The attention to detail and the wealth of knowledge on display make it a must-visit in DC. The museum is well-organized, easy to navigate, and offers plenty of interactive exhibits. Whether you're a history buff or just curious, it’s a fantastic way to spend a day exploring the wonders of the natural world!

Large museum with dinosaur skeletons, stuffed mammals, a marine exhibition and (precious) stones.
There is a butterfly exhibition. That costs extra. The rest is free.

Overrated. There was so much stuff it was overwhelming me and a lot of the language on the signs were confusing. This is a tourist trap. Everybody just comes to see the hope diamond. The geological exhibit is way too long, and all it is a showing of big pieces of jewelry gift shop is incredibly lame, and not even an ancient Egyptian exhibit! would not recommend.
