The entire pharmacy section is now locked up. There is no one in the store with a key. If you’re looking to window shop shampoo and deodorant this is the store for you. If you’re hoping to buy some, shop elsewhere.

Customer Service is non existent!!! This was my favorite grocery store a couple of years ago . I waited patiently for assistance at the deli counter. One customer was being assisted before I arrived. The deli counter worker looked over at me and walked away. He came back and assisted someone who arrived after me . I then asked for assistance and was told I could not receive assistance because they were short of staff . It was two workers like it always is on any other day . In addition to him letting me just stand and not informing me of the situation which should not have been a situation in the first place . I won’t be shopping here anymore!!!!

Absolute worst, shop somewhere else. Everything is locked up, no bell to call someone. You just make circles back and forth between the aisles and customer service desk begging anyone to open a case so you can purchase something from them.

This Safeway location is one of the best big chain on Capitol Hill. I can usually find everything I need and more. The fresh seafood and meat sections are well stocked. And self checkout is pretty swift.

I don’t even know how this store has remained a 4.3 review because it has gone down tremendously. Initially when it opened I was there multiple times per week because everything was so fresh and the presentation on the hot bar, was excellent, but now the food is undesirable and dried out looking old and unkempt. Today, however I had the worst experience when a cashier called for assistance, a young lady by the name of London blatantly was rude in front of my face whispering to the cashier nonchalant things obviously indicating that she was getting ready to leave and refused to assist the cashier saying that she doesn’t know anything about a QR code instead of trying to find out or politely seeking help. She handled the situation very childishly. I then went to customer service, the same young lady came over walked up to another customer and asked if she needed help, then proceeded to assisted multiple other customers after refusing to help me. I expressed my concern to the manager at the customer service desk, then I turn around and she’s whispering to London then tells me someone else would assist me this time, this is just pure Trickery and foolery. I definitely called the one 800 number because this young lady does not belong in this place she has no customer service skills and it’s obvious, since the store has reopened I’ve seen many faces come and go and I know it’s just a matter of time for her, there’s no way she can operate in such a manner in a place of business where she’s serving the community. I will continue to shop with Wegmans with customer service is always super I have never had an encounter like this at Wegmans and I’ve been shopping with Safeway for many many decades but at this point never again it’s not even worth it the best thing going for the store is the meat department at this point. this store needs secret shoppers!!!

While they have a great selection, the customer service is terrible. If you need something unlocked like cold medicine, you need to go outside of the shopping zone which they do not make easy. If you bring your own bags, you are rushed to pack your groceries and not asked if you need a bag or 2 for things that don’t fit then forced to pay the bag fee separately after you’ve completed you order. Every time we’ve tried to get oysters from the seafood counter they are under staffed and unable to shuck what we’ve requested. One of these things would be okay here and there, but every time I go I feel like it’s something else. The staff is rude and unhelpful.

Increasingly designed to feel like a prison — if you try to leave the store without purchasing something you have to force through emergency exits, and get accosted by guards, if you do self checkout you have to scan your receipt to be let out, and now has items behind locked doors with no way to request assistance, and have to brought up to the front for you. It’s like they have tried to design the worst customer experience humanly possible.

The worst cashier I’ve ever seen—extremely rude for no reason.

Management allows employees and security to park in all of the handicaps spots without proper documentation. That is very inconsiderate of the elderly and everyone who is actually disabled. Corporate needs to be contacted.

This Safeway does a pretty good job serving a huge geographic area with a combination of pedestrian, Metro and car customers. Anti theft considerations have taken a bit of the luster from what was once a pristine flagship branch and there are sometimes stocking issues, but it seems like they are really trying to address the concerns. The cart shortage has improved, for instance. Keep up the good work, Safeway.

Seafood dept closes EARLY at 6:45, even though it’s supposed to stay open until 8:00. And when you do catch them, they’re in a bad mood and carry on as if you’re distracting them.
Employees are rude.
Customer service is really useless.
Go to Giant on H or Whole Foods in Navy Yard or on H.

Bakery department is the WORST ! Stay away . I’ve never had a messy order like this ever. They did not apologize or try to discount. It’s ridiculous take your business elsewhere do not waste your time or money
