Worth stopping by to see a very old house.

It's not worth wasting much time.
Almost every house in our Pyrenees (Cerdanya, Al Urgell, Garrotxa-Ripollès-Pallars...) has more grace and charm than this "so old" house in relation to the history of the USA.

The upstairs wasn’t open (with no explanation). The display table on the first floor wasn’t staffed (i think it might have been for kids?) and the items were either broken or missing or fell down… the girl working the front desk didn’t even look up when you walk in (which is awkward for a 100sq foot space) and it appeared a window had been broken into or pushed open and the merchandise was all over the floor. My husband actually cleaned up the “store” while the employee completely ignored us and didn’t even offer to help or say thank you for straightening up the place. Very uncomfortable being there. Also, the gardens and path is completely taken over by weeds and trash. Disappointing. Wish we could have walked around inside but it was closed mostly and the info walls were faded you couldn’t even read much of the info. First visit to Georgetown..

Popped in here on a chilly Sunday in Georgetown with some out-of-towners. Only one room was available for viewing and it had very limited displays or information. Charming gift shop, but it feels weird to buy anything to commemorate such a forgettable spot. The woman behind the counter also was not very hospitable and barely looked up from her phone, so overall kind of a weird experience.

One of my favorite escapes from the crazed sidewalks of M St. Along with the actual Old Stone House, the garden behind it is the true gem most of the year. Nothing fancy but still warm, inviting, and with places to sit and take a breath. Spring is particularly pretty here.

It's exactly like what the name says, an old stone house. I know it has historical significance and it's interesting in that it stands out compared to the rest of the buildings on the street, but there's not much to it. Oh, and don't get fooled like we did. The green space in the back is just the size of a backyard and not a park. It was nice, but it's just a backyard. There is a gift shop.

Too bad it was closed for renovations. But we can take advantage of the garden to take a break.
Symbolically, the building is worth taking a look at while walking around Georgetown.

Definitely an eye-catcher in the middle of Georgetown... especially since it is probably the oldest unchanged building in Washington. The Old Stone House was built in 1765 and is located on M Street.
Washington DC was only founded on July 16, 1790.

Not a lot to look at inside, so it makes for a quick stop. The inside has a gift shop and then 1 small room to view the fireplace and a few banners and a table display. It's a happy accident that this place was saved since it was believed George Washington stayed here, turns out he didn't, but we still have this original building from before our country was founded. The gardens outside are lovely!

Waiting to get into Crumbs and Whiskers, we found the Old Stone House. Pretty cool little place. Oldest house in DC, and although it's rumored, George Washington did not sleep here. Inside they have a little gift shop and 1 old room. There was lots of information to read about the history. Out back, they have a nice tiny park with some flowers and vegetation. Halfway mIntained, with a few benches and photo ops. In the middle of a bustling Georgetown, it's well in walking distance to many of the stores and restaurants. Free, so a good place to kill some time.

This is part of the National Park system. It is what it says - an Old Stone house. There is a gift shop and tiny exhibit.

Super cute building, being the oldest in D.C. Also incredibly haunted, according to legend. Check out the gardens in the back!
