I recently visited Laura Mannering in connection with a lumbar herniated disc. I had also done traditional PT before visiting her, which got me moving again but which I doubted was addressing my actual underlying issue (I work out regularly and have reasonably good core and hip strength, which traditional PT focused on). Instead of focusing on purely muscular work, Laura encouraged me to think differently about the issue and to focus on my spinal movement and mobility. This approach made a lot of sense to me - my sitting at a desk, slouching on the couch, and repeated forward-movement seemed like the more likely culprit. Laura had me work on extension movements for my spine, which helped it to move the way it should with a full range of motion. Laura was encouraging, and wonderful to work with. She was also very easy to schedule with and communicate with between sessions, and she formulated a plan that was tailored to my issue and my capabilities, rather than assigning a series of exercises on a one-size-fits-all approach (which I know can be helpful for some, but didn’t feel like the right solution for me). I will absolutely contact Laura immediately with any future issues I have, with my back or otherwise.

She is a fantastic doctor who truly listens and doesn’t scoot you out the door after 15 minutes. I had a sprained knee, which healed much more quickly than if I had gone to a traditional physical therapist like my neighbor (whose exercises didn’t produce effective results as quickly as the ones from Dr. Mannering). She is fun to talk to and shared her knowledge on a variety of topics. I really appreciate that she doesn’t dismiss Eastern practices, and I wish I could find more doctors like her!

Laura Mannering is amazing. After years of physical therapy I was used to how I thought it works. Her technique is completely different and 100 times more effective. I couldn't move my neck and her interventions got me moving again quickly and gave me a way to work preemptively. Her bed side manner is top notch understanding and kind. I recommend her services. Not all PT is the same.

Cannot recommend enough. Laura is thoughtful, thorough, and a delight to work with. I was able to learn how to manage neck pain issues that had been bothering me for more than 5 years.

Dr Mannering treated my locked knee that I tried to sort out by myself by visiting youtube doctors but failed miserably. In addition to helping me sort my knee, she helped me discover the root cause of my locked knee, showed me the exercise routines to do and continue to do to make sure the joint pain does not happen again. If you are looking for to have sustainable resolve for your joint pains then Dr. Mannering is the real deal. Did I also mention that she focuses on the non-invasive techniques?

Laura Mannering was amazing. She first talked extensively with me about the neck and upper back pains I had been experiencing for 3+ weeks when I met with her. She then gave me a set of exercises which she walked me through at her office. After 1 day of doing the exercises at home, my discomfort had decreased by 25%. By the following week, I felt completely normal again and was 100% free of pain, pain which previously had been almost intolerable. I am still completely pain-free 4 weeks later. If I could give her more than 5 stars I would!

Laura is insightful, experienced and patient. For appointments, she is punctual and provides complete focus on her client. She took the time to listen, and ask the right questions. She explained my issue, walked through my treatment plan and followed up on my progress. Laura has great energy! I will refer Laura to friends/collogues, and will only use her for PT needs going forward.

Laura was extremely professional, thorough, and patient. I especially appreciated how she explained everything, including her diagnostic process. She also provided clear benchmarks for measuring my improvement, and realistic expectations for my recovery. Highly recommend!

After unsuccessful results for back, shoulder, and arm pain through conventional physical therapy, which worsened the pain, and then chiropractic, which only gave one-day relief per session, my spouse suggest trying Laura Mannering. It took a few appointments, but through a pretty systematic program of assessments, she was able to diagnose the actual underlying problem. The movements, essentially guided stretches, cured the problem in pretty short order once i had applied them. Pain-free now for nine months. And I know what moves to do when I feel a little tweaky. Forever grateful!

Dr. Mannering fixed my problem in just a couple of sessions. I have had cervical issues for several years due to computer usage and have seen several PTs which for the most part left me in even more severe pain after treatment. When I saw Dr. Mannering, the problem had become even worse and I had tingling down my arm and part of my thumb had gone numb. Two sessions later, the worst of the symptoms were gone and the remaining slowly got better as the weeks went by. The McKenzie method she practices really works and she is very knowledgeable and a pleasure to work with.

I’d recently moved to DC and needed help with some hip and back damage from a car accident. Having had really helpful and really unhelpful PT before, I knew I needed someone trained in the McKenzie method. (If you have ever had bad PT, it isn’t Mckenzie, which is highly specialized and requires someone who can think and diagnose in complex ways.) I couldn’t be happier w Dr. Mannering, who is extremely smart and competent. Her ability to rethink and improvise based on her expertise after seeing what works and what doesn’t is extremely impressive. She also has a really nice manner. I couldn’t recommend her more highly.

Highly recommend! I went to Laura with hip pain one month away from my first marathon and she helped me to eliminate 80% of my pain in just a week or so. Laura definitely knows her stuff!

I found Dr. Laura Mannering after giving up hope for my upper back and neck issues. I had spent over five years going to different physical therapists, osteopaths, orthopedic surgeons, and neurologists. None of them were able to tell me what my issue was or provide a solution. Dr. Mannering saw me once and was able to quickly and confidently spot my issue, explain it, and send me home with an extremely simple exercise routine that I just could not believe. It took her approximately eight sessions to help me get my life back - I could exercise like a normal healthy person and live my life without pain after that. I cannot recommend her enough - she is a jewel in DC.
