Inizio is a great salon! I had been looking for a good salon in DC for a while before finding Inizio and have now been going there for several years. All of the stylists and staff are kind and friendly. You can tell they all love what they do & they care a lot about their clients. The salon itself is always clean. They also work with all hair types from what I can see while I’m there getting my own service, so if you’re wondering whether they have someone who can help you I’d strongly encourage just reaching out to ask. The salon is elegant while also being approachable / not at all stuffy or pretentious. Their prices are great & I’ve never experienced any pressure to add on services I didn’t want (a common experience I’ve had at other salons in the area).
Chevelle does my hair cut & color and brow wax & tint. She is incredible and I cannot recommend her enough. I have natural curly hair which I almost always blow out / straighten and it has come out great every time I see her. She has been so great at listening to what I want with my brows, helping me keep them full & clean. I refuse to let anyone else touch them now! I did get a lash lift from her once too. While I realized that service just isn’t for me, she did do a great job & was very informative since it was my first time.
Salons like Inizio and stylists like Chevelle are rare & I’m very grateful to have found them!!

Elena took me in tonight as a walk-in 30 minutes before close and stayed for a long time to help me fix a very bad layered haircut that I got elsewhere. She was so sweet, attentive, and SKILLED. She turned hair I was embarrassed about into hair I can be proud of and I am SO relieved. I have had a lot going on lately and Elena’s kindness tonight was truly a godsend. Thank you so much, and if anyone is thinking about booking with Inizio - DO IT!! This is officially my new go-to salon.

Lauryn C is amazing! I came in needing to get my hair healthy and hydrated again, and left with the coolest, volume-maximizing cut I could have dreamed of. Lauryn even suggested a (very affordable) hydrating treatment to help my hair out. I’ve already recommended her to friends. Looking forward to being a “regular” here!

I was in DC for a family event & didn't have time to get a haircut in my home town so I booked a cut with Alyssa! She did an Amazing job! I told her what I was looking for in a easy to care for cut! She took off about 4 inches & added some layers that I could easily manage & style! Alyssa was so easy to work with she listened to what I wanted made some suggestions & I absolutely love my new hair style! Since I've been back home I've had more compliments on my hair style & people telling me how much younger I look! I'll take those compliments all day!
I just wish I lived closer to DC to continue to have Alyssa to cut & style my hair! Thank you Alyssa for making me feel young & pretty again!
Let me say the entire salon is beautiful & the employees there were all amazing! Go check this place out you won't be disappointed!

I loveeee this place! First of all, it is such a cozy and clean space and I felt very comfortable and taken care of from the moment I entered. I was offered water, tea, champagne, etc which was really nice and definitely something I wasn't expecting (maybe this is normal but I rarely get professional hair cuts). My hair stylist, Lauryn, was AMAZING. She listened to all of my concerns and requests, repeated it back to me and we worked out a plan. She totally understood what I wanted and made it happen. Also, the hair washing station has massage chairs which was nice. But Lauryn was truly the star of my whole experience - she even gave me a shower cap to keep my hair dry and preserve the blow out since it was pouring rain outside. I will definitely be back, and while I could certainly tell the other stylists were very talented and kind, I was especially blown away by the service and care I received.
Side note: The manager/owner(?) Jayson was also spectacular when I spoke to him on the phone several times to make my appointment and bombard him with questions. He was very accommodating and considerate. Overall 10/10 would recommend!

Chevelle revived my hair!
(For background, I have curly 3A hair and was in the process of getting it healthy again but all of that was undone by a different stylist elsewhere. I also would normally just contact the stylist to rectify issues but I didn't want to risk anymore damage. My hair had lots of banding, breakage and my curls weren't curling anymore. No, I don't bleach my hair myself nor use box dye). So when I found Chevelle, I was DESPERATE to restart my healthy hair journey again while maintaining the copper hair color I love. I saw her work on IG and read up on her experience and knew I could trust her.
I quickly scheduled an appt with Chevelle after 5 days after the other stylist butchered my hair. Upon sitting in her chair, she immediately saw and understood my concerns and woes, and discussed a solid plan for my hair moving forward. I had an amazing deep condition treatment and while at the shampoo bowl, the chair elevated to have me laying flat and MASSAGED my back. I NEVER had that kind of experience at a hair salon before so I was pleasantly surprised. I got a much needed cut that day and have been back 2 additional times to see Chevelle. I can honestly say this is the healthiest my hair has been in ~9 months. It's curling again, the color is POPPIN, and I can say I TRUST the hands doing my hair. Chevelle is super sweet and professional and created the perfect custom copper color for me. I hope she never leaves this salon lol
Also, the salon is clean and has a clean bathroom! They have tea, coffee, water, and champagne. The other stylists in there are friendly as well.
As far as price goes- if you want quality work and professionalism, you're going to have to pay $$; this isn't some chain salon that will put your desires for an instant color job over the health and integrity of your hair. I've been getting my hair dyed/cut/pressed professionally for the last 12 years, and I can say the price is on par for the services and professionalism you pay for.

My fave salon in DC!!!! I've had my hair cut and colored by multiple stylists here for years now. Besides talented stylists, it also just a cool place to hang. Love the decor and the general vibe between the stylists and the way they treat their clients. 5/5 recommend

Good service but includes hidden fees for services not requested.
I want to give 5 stars, because I love my Brazilian blowout. However, I was surprised my stylist added on services without informing me until it was time to pay.
I was charged an extra 30 for color, which I never asked for- this service is not part of the blowout and was never communicated to me prior. I also requested a trim- which I am fine paying for, and in the future I will ask in advance how much it costs. I shelled out 81 just to get half a centimeter cut, which turned out wasn’t needed since I had healthy ends.
The total should have been around 370, but ended up being almost 500.
I don’t mind paying 500 for the blowout itself, but all costs need to be upfront and communicated honestly. It has made me reconsider being a loyal customer to seek services with more transparency in their pricing, as I need to factor these expenses into my budgeting ahead of time.

LOST $1000 and only received $50 back and my hair is ruined!! :( I booked with Chevelle who claimed that she could give me dark purple hair. i texted her photos of what i wanted and she said it was "totally achievable". I told her that my hair is virgin blonde but box dyed with black hair. She said that this should not be a problem. I wanted extensions to match, so I spent $375 on extensions and then paid her $175 to dye them. I then went to the salon and spent $375 for her to dye the hair on my actual head. As soon as I got there, she slapped bleach on my hair and put some purple dye in it, but it came out grey even after sitting in the chair for 3 hours. I went outside, took my photos showing her that it was grey, and she agreed to redo it. The entire time her and another stylist were making rude comments as though I was being unreasonable-I never claimed to know how to do hair, she is the one who said it was feasible, and if it wasn't this should have been explained before frying my hair with bleach. I then spent another 3 hours in the salon having the same process done. It still did not look at all like what I asked for but it was a brighter purple (even though it did not match the extensions) so i just went home. during the next few showers I took, all of the purple came out except for a middle band of grey purple around the middle of my head, and bottom of my hair turned dark green. I asked Chevelle for a refund of at least the $375 for the hair on my head, because I have now spent a total of $1000 and still now have to get my hair corrected and spent $500 on extensions that I cannot use. All she did was give me a $50 refund. Be warned.

I can't say enough good things about Inizio!! The atmosphere is clean and refreshing & the staff is excellent, (I have worked with Amanda, Elena and Yolanda personally for the past two years), they worked with me to create a color and look that worked for me and when I tried to get it done cheaper somewhere else, I ended up returning to Inizio to fix it. If you are looking for a no BS salon that focuses their attention and money into the quality of their products and services, look no further than Inizio!!
