Incredibly bad service. Finding the station is a bit of an art as the signage is completely wrong. Afterwards I stood in line for over an hour because only one employee took care of everyone. When it was my turn, I was told that my car wasn't there and I had to wait. Nobody was able to say how long, but the employees obviously weren't interested either. Playing on the cell phone was more important. After waiting for 2 hours and complaining several times, I was offered another car which was just returned. I then accepted so that I wouldn't have to wait any longer. Conclusion: Absolute disaster, not recommended. Actually deserved 0 stars. None of the other rental car stands had such a catastrophe.

Didn’t have the car size I reserved and kept offering me smaller vehicles that would not work. No effort to try and solve the problem - just forced us to Uber to DCA and rent with another company. Not even apologetic on-site. A week later, Customer service only offered $50 gift card that expired in 3 months as “apology”. They refused to pay for the Uber that we HAD to take because they didn’t have the car size we reserved. Don’t rent here - they cost you money!

This is the second time we tried to reserve a bigger vehicle but received a standard suv. This place is poorly run and can't even get their inventory straight, which should be mostly automated. Why is it so hard for them? This is the last time we'll be using this company.

A shame, Hertz booked for me and I was supposed to bring back the car to a location they closed several months ago!!! So I had finally to bring the car to a location far from where I booked, and pay 40$ taxi to go back to the first location where I was supposed to be. Also lost my evening. A shame, never experienced sur a low level service

The staff were courteous and helpful, the experience overall was good and the price was good, but the rental return area at the moment is impossible to find. They're somehow transitioning to a new rental return area, and currently there are two signs that point in opposite directions for the return. You'll want the sign on the right and the lane on the right when doing a return. It would be helpful if Hertz staff could let people know so that customers aren't inconvenienced. I didn't have a train to make, but this could be a problem for somebody rushing for a train.

No Dollar signage anywhere in this massive garage. No Dollar signage even at the rental booth. Go to the Hertz kiosk in the far corner of the 3rd floor. Bad experience.

Stay away! I DO NOT recommend this location (DC Union Station). Rude employees! No cars are available! A total waste of time and energy! Located in a dirty parking garage. I have also noticed, they still have the same employees working for them; that other customers complained about!

1. If it is your first time renting here, go very early. The signs are not clear, the garage is confusing and the booth is hard to find.2. The rentals are kept in and discharged from the garage, which is dark. If you have time, take a flashlight, or you won't notice how absolutely disgusting your rental could potentially be. See pics. There was spit all over the car, possibly vomit, dried ketchup on the seat, the middle console was dirty, and the vehicle smelled of smoke.3. Check the tires. My rentals tire had gashes in it, caked with dry dirt. Someone hit a curb but it's not like Hertz would have cared anyway. I was lucky I drove on 95 without issue.5. Check the windshield wipers, or like me, you will be stuck in a storm and unable to see cause the wipers are straight trash.6. If you have any concerns, save them. No one will call or email you back. I finally heard from Priceline after several follow up emails from me, Hertz kept sending generic replies. Eventually. Hertz offered me a whole $15 certificate from my $178 rental, towards my next rental, because I must clearly be eager to rent from that location again? If you have other options, take them. If not, go early, check everything.P.S. Hertz, why respond to just respond? Local management had the time and opportunity to correct this unsafe, unsanitary and unprofessional rental. I emailed the company these images, and no one cared. The petty $15 cert for wasting my time in the future showed the lack of concern from management. I can only hope my review helps someone by raising the rightful red flag. Because, as it was me that brought the compromised tire and busted windshields to Hertz attention, preventing serious accidents/inconveniences/injury/potential lawsuits for Hertz, refunding my rental cost should have been a no brainer.

The phone number that is listed on Google and everywhere for Hertz at Union Station does not work so that says a lot. This is supposed to be a business right?

Okay so first I would like to say that the staff at this location was nice, welcoming and helpful. However, overall my experience was extremely frustrating mostly because of how utterly infuriating it is to try and find this place. I wandered around the parking garage for what seemed like an eternity and only found it after walking down a random series of ramps. The signage is confusing and contradictory. I honestly probably couldn't find it again if I tried.Drop off was no easier. I ended up having to leave the car outside of the drop off area because the signage lead me to an area that was impassable. The staff was great, but I wont be renting from this location again due to how inaccessible it is.

No working phone line so there is no way to cancel reservations. they promise you can cancel with no penalty, but then give you no way of contacting them. I ended up just eating the cost.

Do not rent a car from Hertz! Definitely not at Union Station, DC. From experience, they will not have a car available and give you misleading information. They gave me the run-around to their various locations, spending $100 extra on Uber and Lyfts, which they promised to refund, but then gave me the run around here too. Hertz is only good for broken promises!
