An absolute nightmare of a place to find. We had to go into the Hilton to ask Hilton staff where to go. No signs or direction into the car park, no signs on where to go once in the car park. We picked our car up in New York City and returned here in Washington. Car park signs non existent. We then had to ask a member of estates staff where the desk was which turns out is in the lobby, get into the lobby and still unable to find! We then had to ask at the Hilton check in desk. Arrived at the hertz desk to the most rude individual who basically said “just hand the keys over”, we had questions to ask and was told he couldn’t help and his manager wasn’t here and to await for an email from Hertz. This is all very disconcerting when we are returning to the UK so not able to speak to anyone. I can understand why it has so many 1 star reviews recently! This is brining a terrible name to the Hilton.

Car was not the one I reserved and was filthy. Dirt, sand, trash and a moldy plate in the trunk. Dirty door interiors and sticky center console. Dirty visors and interior of windshield was difficult to see through because it had a film on it. The car smelled like the moldy plate and marijuana.

The customer agent charged my deposit twice, leaving me $400 out of pocket and without a car. I received no apology and was told it was my fault for using a foreign card. This is completely unacceptable, and feels borderline scam.

Do not rent from here. Use Turo instead. In June I spent over an hour waiting to pick up my vehicle. They gave me the wrong directions to find my vehicle so I had to go back and wait in line again. When I finally got my vehicle, it was smaller than what I reserved. Hertz still hasn’t issued me a refund for the difference.
I’ve had great luck with Turo. I’ll never rent from a rental car company again.

Why is it impossible to get someone that works there on the phone to ask a question?? They can answer it in 2 seconds but I have to sit in the phone for 30 minutes to even try and fail to get a person on the phone

I don't usually write post but I had to. Wish I could put zero star, this place is a scam. My partner went to rent a car that he had already paid. They refused to give him a car due to a debit card issue (they do accept debit card, but did not know how to deal with a French card.......).
Were totally unhelpful and refused to give us a refund. Do not go there, such a bad experience. Go to Avis on L street or literally any other location.

I always like to rent with Herz. This time it is better with the cars at the Hilton Connecticut Ave. it was convenient to me. The only suggestion is the check in person should be a little more specific to get to the car and how to get out and how to get in when return. Other than that good work for checking in for the car and returning the car.

Do not rent from this location. We showed up for our rental last week and the car they gave us had a completely missing side mirror. The woman ahead of us in line went down to her rental only to find someone else’s belongings in the car.
We refused to take the car with the missing mirror and they gave us a new one in good order, which we returned with no issues. I just got an incident report this location filed under my name blaming me for the damage to this car, which I never drove.
Every other Hertz location we rent from is great- but for some reason this location is a nightmare. Avoided it.

Contrary to the general review, my wife and I had no problems picking it up. We booked the car 3 months before collection through a third-party provider (Check24) and received the car according to the booking. We were also asked for a corresponding toll pass (E-ZPass) and received this for an additional charge. All fees that we paid on site (second driver, one-way surcharge (D.C. - Miami, Florida)) were as high as clarified in advance. In addition, as with almost all rental providers, there is a deposit.
However, we were given two tickets for the exit and it wasn't really explained to us how to use them. A hotel employee kindly told us this after we had only used one ticket and showed us the cost was $56. Otherwise everything is fine.
