Took a foreigner level Korean class with Keeyun and had a great time! Keeyun was very welcoming and energetic and was always prepared with handouts with vocab/phrases every class, so it felt like a proper class. Classmates also were great and engaged well, though everyone’s experience with Korean was a little bit different. I think if you had some language exposure to Korean, it will still be a fun class but might be a little bit slow. Overall, definitely would want to come back and take other levels in Korean and also other classes. Currently taking an online French class and that has been enjoyable as well.

I’ve taken two Spanish classes with GLN and plan on continuing. Great way to learn and practice a new language, all while socializing. I’ve taken both in person and online classes. The teachers are wonderful and professional!

Took beginner Korean class. GLN makes learning a new language affordable, fun, and accessible. It's amazingly generous that people are willing to volunteer so much time to teach the classes.

I can only speak to the upper level Chinese classes at GLN, but those have been awesome! I've taken...4, I think? I've thoroughly enjoyed them all! Although the teachers are volunteers, they are enthusiastic and dedicated to encouraging students to build confidence and utilize the target language (Celine and Sylvia in particular have been fantastic!). It's a great way for people like me (out of college, working enough that it's hard to commit time to language classes, not willing or able to take classes in person) to maintain and continue improving the language skills that they worked on in college, or to start learning a new language! The cost of the classes is amazingly low, and the fact that they offer half of it back as a stipend towards their next class is an unbelievably good deal. Speaking honestly, I have encountered some logistical challenges with GLN. I would be remiss in failing to mention them; however, I understand that GLN is a small non-profit that works due to the generosity of the volunteer teachers. The fact that sometimes things get confused or mistakes happen is understandable, and I think it's more than balanced out by the accessibility and affordability of the classes. Overall, I think that GLN is an amazing resource for adults who are busy, but want to learn or maintain a language without breaking the bank.

Though there were some technical difficulties, my Russian teacher was great and I learned a lot during the few weeks of the course. For just $200, it was worth it.

The affordable language lessons offered by the GLN uplift both students and teachers while making both learning and teaching fun. Moreover, the confidence that the used approach builds in students whether to improve at work, in their relationships, or to carry out missions overseas using learned foreign language is priceless. Such a wonderful network started within the classroom with observable major impact.

I heard about this organization from a friend, saw the incredible reviews, and immediately fell in love with the mission and the work of GLN. Hats off to founder Andrew Brown and the team. I reached out and Andrew was very responsive and helpful. I love the diversity at GLN too!

Great place for college students to gain work experience. Kind and professional staff, great location, many valuable skills to learn, and so much more. The bonds you build here will last a long time.

After my Spanish skills got rusty with a few years of disuse, I enrolled in GLN's Spanish Tourist class and had a blast. The class was engaging and encouraging, and I spent almost all of every class period actively engaged in conversation. My speaking confidence increased dramatically, and I learned a lot of new vocabulary as well.

I have taken a handful of classes with them thinking the more classes I take the better my skills would get. But ultimately found that this place is only good for taking 1 or 2 classes, as you can't progress up by the way the classes levels are designed. The summer classes are half the length but the same price which they even defended in an email as I guess people must have complained about that. I've given them specific feedback in every evaluation I've filled out but they stick to their format. My last class I got stuck with a horrible teacher, I mean personality wise she was nice enough, but the way she structured her class wasn't conducive to learning. I could see that everyone else in the class shared this frustration. I filled out a mid-year evaluation explaining what wasn't working and also emailed the teacher to give some suggestions. Nothing changed. Communication with the administration of GLN is non-existent. They are literally the worst. I would caution taking a class with this company after seeing how they run its operations.

I really enjoyed my Arabic class at GLN. While the course was online because of COVID, I still managed to learn a lot and keep up my arabic skills! My teacher Sinan was great! and the whole class really came together to make the experience even more enjoyable. Looking forward to taking a class in person as soon as possible!

If you're looking for a cheap way to begin learning a language, GLN is really the place to go. The price is unbeatable, and they usually have numerous time slots available for the high-demand languages. As always with learning a language, you get out what you put into it, but I had no previous French language experience, and feel like I have a decent grasp on the beginner level stuff now after just one course. I would definitely recommend GLN to anyone looking to either pick up a new language, or continue learning one.

I took a French class with GLN during the Spring of 2021. It was completely online and remote - which I had no issue with since I had spent all of Summer and Fall 2020 in a remote, intensive French course. I have been taking French for about 3 years and wanted to keep up on my language skills.I enrolled in my course and at first had an okay experience. My class was two hours long and met once a week. However, even with such a long class and only 6 students in the course, I often only spoke once or twice a class. The content was not very engaging and I was not getting my money's worth out of this course. After giving it a shot and staying in the course for about 6 or 7 weeks, I decided to leave the course and ask for a refund as it is not a small price to pay. At this point in time, I would probably give GLN a 3 star review. My reason for the 1 star review is the response I received from staff at GLN. After initially reaching out with my concerns and my request for even a partial refund (I had taken half the class, so I could understand that logic), I barely received a response. At first my complaints were passed onto a higher-up and then responded to by someone else. They denied my request and had said I spent too much time in the course to get a refund - even though they understood my frustrations. They continued to pass me on to different individuals who never gave a clear answer on why I couldn't receive a refund or any sort of compensation. The cherry on top was when the Founder - Andrew Brown - sent me an automated message to tell me I had not earned my stipend, but that they were offering my next level at GLN this summer. I responded to this email again with my complaints and asked for any explanation to which he continued to avoid and I have still heard nothing back.I am sure there are some great classes here, but there are definitely cheaper options that will actually do wonders to improve all aspects of your language acquisition and won't take your money without any consideration for low quality courses.
