The quality and variety of foods offered puts this meal service above a lot of others out there! They take allergens, dietary needs, and dietary preferences into consideration!

This is not a place to eat but a volunteer opportunity to pack food packages and meals for clients. This was a intersection event that makes me consider other opportunities to volunteer here.

For was healthy and delicious at the same time. A lot of times you recieve these healthy meals and they lack flavor and variety. I was pleasantly surprised to see the delicious options I recieved. I especially loved the coconut ginger soup!

For all those that have negative comments. You without sin can cast the first stone. Be thankful at least for what they do overall. There is absolutely not one human being, nor one organization, on this planet that can claim perfection-much less even close to perfection.Be thankful for what you do receive. Be thankful, delivery folks that you can be part of something good instead of whining line little brats because you didn’t get a tip.Instead of negativity and pointing fingers—try to recommend improvements. At least try to do something other than crying.

Driver only called once when i called back he did not answer. When answering the door driver was seen running back to car and drove off. I then left a voicemail stated what happened and theyre telling me i was marked an undeliverable. What tf am I supposed to do for another 2 weeks with no groceries. I told them to leave them at the door bc it takes time to come to the door and thats what the last delivery driver had done but the employee that reached out to me said they arent allowed to do that. Why not? Someone was in the house but yall have impatient drivers to make deliveries. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL

Love this place because they give back to the community, and they always need volunteers.

It was thanks to the Yelp Elite Event that shed light to Food and Friends. I've learned the impact that they have on the community that is a non-profit organization that provides diet specific foods to those in need at no cost to them. And is purely run by volunteers and supporters alike. Whether it be generous donors, Philanthropy, and those can volunteer some of their time. There is never a charge to those who need it. And you can support in the organization from organizing, cooking, packaging to delivery. It's the only organization of its kind and provides a great service. But most importantly positively impacts the community in which we live. There is no threshold, rich or poor. All services are provided equally. I'd recommend anyone contribute and find out how you too can make an impact.

Reading all these comments, i almost feel bad leaving this review but it has to be known. This is charity works like Robin Hood. Robbing one to feed another, except they take from another poor person. Today i delivered an order of local fancy cupcakes (totaling almost $250) to them. $0 tip. But I’m sure the people at the head of this organization get paid, i am also sure the person who placed the order could have left even a $1 which goes a long way…. It is a shame that companies like that are even allowed to exist, and the people working there allowed to walk freely. Not tipping is stealing from your delivery partners, i don’t care what it’s for, can’t afford to tip, drive to the other side of town and get it yourself. And this is valid for all of you out there who use the same excuse. There are always cheaper options that can leave you with enough change to leave at least a mediocre tip. Shame…

I was very skeptical about receiving food from any organization. But, as a caregiver of a person in hospice care, I must say the quality of the food from this organization is absolutely wonderful!! It comes frozen but doesn’t taste like a t. v. dinner. The salmon cake seems to be fresh salmon (not canned), the veggies taste fresh and seasoned nicely. Even the soups are very flavorful. We are receiving the soft low salt diabetic meals. Now, I do add a few special seasonings sometimes ( old bay, garlic, turmeric, ginger, cayenne pepper) to some foods to make it “special to me”.All in all the food tastes delicious and I would encourage those that are thinking about receiving meals from here to get a weeks worth and then decide. They must have chefs working with them!! As a recipient I give them 5 Stars for flavorful, nutritious, and easy to heat up meals.

This 501c3 organization prepares and delivers food to chronically ill people in the DMV. It's a wonderful place to volunteer.
