Day 1 you think the team is great, helpful, kind, etc. I’m now 45 day post sale and this has been the worst, sloppiest team I’ve ever worked with. My guess is they are overwhelmed and overworked but you are basically handed off to a half wit assistant (in my case a Carmin Newman) who could literally not read and struggled to get anything correct. I constantly was triple checking what she said always to find out she was wrong, she would call me back to back even after I had repeatedly said I was in meetings. When I got my final paperwork it was all incorrect too, none of my numbers matched and they had sold a loan with no mortgage ins then tried to force me to accept mortgage insurance language the day I was closing. Sloppy Carmin kept saying this like “it’s ok to just sign it, we won’t charge it to you, we just need it to go like this to the approved.” Huh, that’s mortgage fraud? Fortunately my incredible realtor stepped in and got the language removed. Then, after they sold my loan immediately (so it’s clear they can’t even be trusted to get you the best rate) they didn’t pass any of my info correctly to the new lender. When I asked this team for support, sloppy Carmin immediately replied that my payment wasn’t due for another month. I asked her again to confirm that and she says “oh ya, my slip up.” Still haven’t been able to make my first payment.

Matt Gilday. A vice president of First Savings Mortgage, went above and beyond with my underwriting process. He answered all of my large and small questions with layman terms and really made the whole process of financing a new home a joy. 100% recommended for anyone who doesn't want to feel like just a number.

Hillary LeGrain is top notch. She is knowledgeable, helpful, patient and responsive. She was with us through the mortgage process and was able to turn things around immediately which is key in such a competitive market. She was able to close in two weeks, which made us even more competitive and it’s rare that a lender is able to guarantee a two week closing. If your looking to be competitive in the DC market, make sure Hillary is on your team. If you’re looking for a mortgage, be sure to call Hillary. She also came highly recommended by several agents.
