I found this bookstore via their website. They are one of the few independent bookstores that actually allows you to order directly from them on their website (others redirect you to a book warehouse website that shares profits with the bookstore you shop at but takes some too).They only had one of three books I was looking for in stock, but allowed me to order the others. The books only took 2-3 days to all come in and I received notifications via my preferred contact option. It was so convenient and seamless!I went to the store on a Sunday to pick the books up. I was greeted immediately by a member of their team. She had my books ready and waiting. We talked about one of the books and others … which prompted my sister to start browsing and she found three books for herself ?. This is a lovely bookstore with a good selection, friendly staff, and was a great experience online and in store. I will be coming back for my future book needs!

The atmosphere isn't particularly to my taste and it not being wheelchair and stroller accessible is a bummer, but I really appreciate the lovely staff. Every single employee I've interacted with in the past few years has been so kind and helpful. I recently ordered a book and when it arrived in less than perfect condition, they let me return it and ordered a replacement.

Lovely book store. Great organization and displays, lots of variety and great authors. Lots of adorable book related gifts and even some local area gifts. Great variety for kids, teens, and adults.

A cute book shop located in the Capitol Hill neighborhood near Eastern Market. A wide selection of books and various genres across two floors. East City Bookshop also holds events with authors multiple times a month and offers great service too!

East City books is my favorite independent book shop in DC! They have a great selection of books. I never have a hard time finding a book I’m looking for or choosing something based on the fantastic staff recommendations.
