One of our favorite hotels!! I love the simplicity and high-tech feel of the rooms! I loved that the bed was a huge square and felt nestled in, with the walls and the huge window on one side. Some people note you have to crawl over someone else, but I didn’t mind and since the bed is square, you could always change it to have the pillows towards the windows. Loved the iPad controls too. I also really liked the abundance of communal spaces, it reminded us of hostels in Europe! The gym is also so pretty, clean, spacious, and well-equipped. On top of all that, great value, and amazing location - very quiet and safe area, and one block from the metro!

Super cool hotel to stay in while exploring the national mall. Very clean with interesting design and decor. The entire process from check-in to checkout is done through technology. Parking is free if you can find space in front of the hotel. If not, there is a paid public parking next to the hotel building. For under a $100/night, citizen M exceeded my expectations.Loved the breakfast and lunch too at Canteen M.Rooms: Comfortable beds. Pluffy pillows.

The vibe is really cool albeit weird. The features are amazing though. You get showers with led mood lighting, blackout curtains, TVs you can actually cast to, an iPad that controls everything your room, a really good bed, and some really cool carpet with satellite imagery of Washington DC. There’s also some really weird art that transcends good taste but is inoffensive

Obsessed with this unique gem! If you’re lucky enough to stumble on this location & you’re traveling solo or in a couple, book a room!!!Travel alert: the rooms are tiny (if you have issues using the restroom in close proximity of your travel buddy this is not the one for you) although the rooms are compact they also have everything you need for a weekend stay. The staff is super friendly from the moment you step in until the moment you leave… Sadiq helped us check in & started our experience off so positively. The rooms are adorable and technically advanced, with most of the features of the room being controlled by your provided iPad.Bar downstairs was vibey and served above average cocktails for a hotel bar.Great location, Great stay, Great price… we will be back!Rooms: CompactSafety: Felt extremely safeFood & drinks: Bar serves great drinks! Subway across the street & front desk happily holds delivery orders upfront for youNoteworthy details: Great spot for solo travelers!

Cons:0) Toilets don’t have an exhaust fan (so you need to use perfume).1) Rooms are new york apartment style(No kitchen, microwave etc)2) there’s almost no room to walk or sit3) There’s no parking.4) No one is attending after 12AM; you need to call customer care to check-in after 12AM (we just banged on the door for 5minutes)Pros:1) Rooms are the most futuristic i have ever seen2) lighting control and curtain control is the best i have ever seen.3) Feels really safe and clean.4) If you are used to living in small spaces you will actually love this hotel.5) The location and walkability of this hotel to all the museums is the best for what cost you pay and the quality of the hotelRooms: 1) Rooms are new york apartment style(No kitchen, microwave etc)2) there’s almost no room to walk or sitSafety: Feels really safe and clean.Walkability: The location and walkability of this hotel to all the museums is the best for what cost you pay and the quality of the hotelNoteworthy details: There’s no parking.

TL;DR is this location is not at all like most CitizenM hotels. Best to avoid their "Capitol" location!!!I have stayed in CitizenM hotels in many cities. Yes, the art is tasteless and the rooms are small but the things these hotels almost always have going for them are spotless, well-maintained rooms, comfortable beds, and true blackout curtains. Writing to report that in that regard, this property is a fake CitizenM. I’ve never seen one of these hotels so rundown and management of the chain just not give a damn!Checked in and went to initially assigned room - 1019. It appears that any odd numbered room on a high floor in this hotel has a decent view of the Capitol building. However, I wouldn’t know it from this room because the blackout curtain was broken and left unraveled over the bed. None of the following would raise the curtain: buttons on wall, iPad, or CitizenM app. Also, the iPad in the room would not turn on or charge.I went to the front desk and was given another room. This time, I was given 903. Room 903 is right outside the elevator. In this room, the iPad was cracked and, more importantly, the deadbolt to the room didn’t work.I made a complaint via the CitizenM app and the initial response was that since I was on the property, please go to the front desk to address my concerns. I explained for a second time via the app that I had done this once already and wanted to speak to a manager.A young white woman with braces eventually came to the room saying she was the manager. She said she would replace the iPad. She also looked at the deadbolt, confirmed it was broken, and said she would have “her guy” fix it in the morning. I was offered free breakfast but not another room, which meant this hotel was totally fine with keeping a woman traveling alone in a room without a deadbolt. The woman confirmed that I didn't book as a Federal employee because their travel guidelines would require that I be given a secure room. For the rest of us, including women traveling alone, no such luck. The following day, after sightseeing, came back to the room. Do you think they fixed the deadbolt? (NO!) Do you think they responded this time when I asked to speak to a manager? (NO!) Do you think I stayed for the other nights of my reservation? (HELL NO!!!)This hotel is a lot more rundown than any CitizenM I’ve seen. Broken switches on the wall. Dirty shower stall. (When have you ever seen a CitizenM with a dirty room?) Cheap plastic mattress that made squnchie noises whenever I moved. No pen was provided in either room. (WHEN HAVE YOU EVER SEEN A CITIZENM WITHOUT A BLACK TRIANGLE PEN IN THE ROOM?) The neighborhood this hotel is located in is dead after the Feds go home, so you’ll be dependent on the hotel for late night snacks and drinks. No 7-Elevens or the like nearby.Don’t waste your time with this place unless you're a young person looking for a 24/7 party. This is not a place for safety or sleep.

This hotel was not only a 0 in service (you check yourself in via a kiosk while juggling all of your bags and luggage) but the room was so small I actually laughed when i got to my room. I'm 6'3" and if I laid down I basically touch head and feet to each wall. I paid over $550 for this room and was listed as a 4 star hotel with good reviews...my mistake for not looking at pictures. It wasnt all negative though. While in bed your sick (next to your toilet) is close enough to practically brush your teeth in bed! On a serious note, the king bed was very comfortable and I loved the iPad control system for lights, blinds and temp control. Did not like the iPad controlling the TV though. Overall, I'd rather stay in a $60 motel where I know I'll at least have a bathroom separate from my bedroom.

We stayed here for 8 nights in a standard room. The room is pretty small, but it's very convenient. There's a big drawer underneath the bed where there's enough space for XL luggage that's folded open. There's a tablet that gives you control over the whole room, that's awesome. The only negative things that I can say about the room is that you have to crawl over your partner to get out of the bed and that there's no free coffee or tea included. It's possible to have breakfast (buffet) for around $20.50. There's enough to choose from, but the only thing that was missing were some pancakes and/or waffles. The gym was awesome! One of the biggest gyms that I have seen in a hotel. The location is very close to all the touristic hotspots, the options to go out for dinner were limited.

We really like CitizenM hotels, but this location is just OK.The location is great, and the look and feel of the interior is classic CitizenM: very modern and fun. However, this particular location features strange smells in the rooms and hot water that is hit and miss.By CitizenM standards, this location is below par.

Ideal location being a short walk to L'Enfant metro station.A friendly welcome and the room was really comfortable with an iPad controller for all room amenities. A fridge and safe were also in the room.Breakfast was buffet style and plenty of choice and tasty.Rooms: Rooms are clean and comfortable with a fridge, safe, hairdryer, large double bed and walk in shower. The lights are media can all be controlled by an iPad (which is provided)Walkability: Only a short walk to L'Enfant metro station.

Cannot recommend this hotel and this location enough. Service was great all around (front desk, food, bar, housekeeping etc.) Hotel was exactly what you need for 2 people and still felt comfortable with some luxury. We came to DC with no itinerary and that was not an issue as when you start walking from the hotel you hit one museum, national monument, great restaurant etc. after another. Rooms were extremely clean.Nearby activities: Smithsonian Air & Space Museum

The photos of the rooms are misleading as they do not reflect the true size of the rooms and actual style. The rooms are more like cabin crew room on a ship. I saw one review say it is half of a regular room, and I would say the reviewer was being generous, it is way less than half of any regular hotel room. Claustrophobic people cannot survive 5 minutes in such place. In terms of service, technically ur on your own, not much there to assess. Overall, the only good thing about this place is the location. Not going there again.

Most comfortable bed I’ve ever been in. The hotel lounge area was a fantastic melting pot where we could grab a drink and meet interesting international travelers. We actually spent a majority of our hotel time in the lounge. Eames chairs were a nice luxurious touch. Will book in every city they’re in for the future. My hotel of choice going forward.Rooms: Comfortable, high-tech, better sleep than at home.Food & drinks: Many options and good crowd.Noteworthy details: Fun and unique.

I was not aware of the style of the hotel before arriving. It is basically a half room. All the items of a normal hotel room in half the space. This is accomplished by putting the bed sideways at the end of the room with one person having to crawl over the bed to get to their side (or over their partner once in) the shower and toilet are not in a separate room as is traditional, they are in the room just partitioned off by frosted glass. All this is great for a single occupant, but not as convenient for 2.The check in kiosks were all not working, one of the elevators was broken and the roof top bar was closed for maintenance (for a week). It's close to the mall and museums which is great, but I went to get breakfast and all the options within walking distance were weekday only and closed on Saturday. The iPad control for the room/lights/curtains/etc was great.

This was a good location for me, and they had a government rate. Otherwise it would be in the $400 range.I had never been in a Citizen M hotel, so I was a little surprised when I opened my room door and discovered the the entire width of the room it the length of the bed. The headboard and footboard of the bed are actually the walls of the room. For a second I though I was in a railroad sleeper car.You can’t touch the window unless you are in bed. The mini toilet and shower are only surrounded by frosted glass, with the sink in the “room” itself. Overall, it feels like it it about one third the size of a regular room. For me being there on business, for one night, that’s fine. I’m not claustrophobic. But I can’t imagine staying here if there are two of you. For two people there would be not enough room and really no bathroom privacy. The view was of the department of transportation building. I could wave to Pete Buttegiege. The staff, however, was very nice. The rooftop bar was not a full bar, but had nice views.
