Happy Thanksgiving to the mongrels at Budget at Union Station who left myself, my wife, my two kids and their grandkids stranded today after having no cars left when we arrived to pick one up. Oh yes, I reserved it and paid in full a month in advance. Peace to the gentlemen who tried to lecture us on how it is not their fault and that we need to call customer service . Much love to the customer service agent who could not help me get a new rental because it is a call center and they have no clue how many cars individual locations have.If you rent from Budget, don’t say I didn’t warn you, as they are worse than Spectrum as two carrrier pigeons with arthritis could have got me to my hotel better.

I have never seen slower service for renting a car. We were all made to use a paper form like if QR codes and computers no longer exist

I would definitely give this a -5 stars. I prepaid for my vehicle on Friday October 3, 2023. Caught an Uber to the location and when I arrived I saw a sign that says "Can not honor same day reservation". That would have been nice to know prior to me prepaying for the vehicle. Then as I and another lady stand outside in the cold the workers are laughing behind the glass as I am trying to ask if this applied to prepaid reservation. Now I can understand for those who have just reserved a car but you now have my money. When she finally opened the glass she says "we have no cars and a list of people waiting so call customer service". Ha, called them the lady says "my system is down can you call back" No ma'am I can not I am stranded and cold, she then says I will transfer you to customer service for a refund. They did provide a refund which you know takes as long as the banks want and now it is late in the day and I still have to find a rental, which I had to catch another Uber further. I requested a refund as they stated they will cover up to $50 of Uber fees and yet to have received a response once I supplied my receipts. NEVER EVER AGAIN!!!! The ghetto

I would leave zero stars if I could. Actually, negative. We reserved a car, yet we still had a 2-hour wait to get our car. The clerk, Dawn, had no information and was not at all sympathetic or helpful to the MANY people waiting for their car. There is also no waiting room. Guests have to wait in a cold, dirty parking lot and sit on cold, hard cement bumpers while waiting. The restroom is about a 5-minute walk away. It could not possibly be more inconvenient or uncomfortable. We missed our lunch reservation, and this delay really messed up the last day of our vacation. Another person waiting advised us this location is "always like this." If that is true, why don't they fix it? This is not the way to treat people. When we finally got our car, we asked Dawn if we would be getting a discount since our reservation was not honored. She snapped, "It was honored; you're getting a car right now." She also informed us the car only had half of a tank of gas. When we finally got in our car, it was much less than half a tank, and very loud music was already blaring. It was a wholly unpleasant and stressful experience. If you MUST rent here for whatever reason. I suggest you bring a portable seat cushion, a sweater, a book to read and make your reservation for 2 hours before you need it, so you actually leave on time for whatever you need to do.

I booked a car in advance and paid, but when I came to the car rental, they told me: we don’t have a car! Seriously? You took the money, promised me a car rental service, and did it! Destroyed all my plans. I saw a lot of people waiting for so long when you gave them prepaid cars because they have no other choice. It's humiliating and so annoying! It was such a bad experience for us that I do not recommend this car rental company. Never ever. If you want to save your nerves and money, you should never contact this company.

You’re literally better of renting a car from anywhere else except this location. People operating this location truly believe they do not owe you any service. This location has no communication with the main branches so doesn’t matter when you make a reservation or even call and check ~ they ain’t gonna give you a car and they don’t car to even try to see if they can help.Has been absolutely useless and unhelpful every single time.

they over book, run out of cars, and won't honor your reservation. It's hit or miss whether they'll have a car for you or not even if you reserve one weeks in advance.

Very disappointing experience, unfortunately. We reserved and got charged for a intermediate SUV, but ended up with a compact car. The staff did not inform us about the car being not the reserved category. The car itself was really dirty and there was litter under the seats (e.g. butt of a joint).

I wish we had the minus 10 or the business need to close button option. Made a reservation online, called them to make sure vehicle is available, which they confirmed. Send me a confirmation email, to tell me once I get there, that they don't have a vehicle available for my reservation. After calling and making sure they have the car available. In addition, employees are rude and need serious customer service training. Will never ever do business with them and won’t encourage anyone to do with them.

Waited 2 hours before getting car to leave & made reservation 1month prior. Cars out of service unknown whereabouts of keys cars out of service 1 person to wash & move returned cars. 2 women as nice as can be trying to hold it together. Not fair to them the budget ceo needs to get involved. Perfect scenario for undercover boss. Unfortunately can’t recommend renting from union station Washington dc

Despite very negative reviews on Google the Union Station staff in DC was friendly and efficient. Sign posting to find the rental counter was poor though. I was surprised and disappointed to be given an open Jeep pick-up truck which required us to put luggage inside the cabin. This was possible with only three passengers but would have been impossible if we had been four. Why does any rental company even offer cars like this for general rental?

This place is really close to airport. I was kinda worried how I am gonna return the car in the airport, where can I park etc. I realized that the process is super simple, you just park your car here, someone simply reads the car's tag, confirms the return in 10 seconds and you are done. I like the fact that they made it super easy to return. Then they have mini buses to airport every few mins. Jacqueline was the driver of our mini bus and she was very nice and helpful.I returned cars in several airports and in most cases you need to find the right people, they should be available, and you need to wait quite some time. Frankly, this was my best rental car return experience. Highly recommend returning car here

Kim at UNION STATION DOWNTOWN DC was very rude and unprofessional! Kim did not have a clean/neat appearance. Kim wore pink house slippers on 6/28/2024. Closed window in the middle of me asking for additional information.

I rented a car for the weekend. Then made another reservation for a month that was prepaid. The staff let me keep the same weekend rental when I returned it on time. They did not change the contract to reflect the prepaid reservation. A few days later Budget loss prevention called me to demand return. I explained and they said they would email the location. I called the location and was routed to the international call center and they could not help or put me in touch with the location. I then received a reposession notice and went to clear it up at the location. They were unable to combine the contracts and checked the car in. They could not rent me the prepaid car because the system put me on a do not rent list. It took 3 hours to get out if there with thr car. All the while everyone is apologizing for the system. No one is comoensating me for my time. I paid over $1,000 to be greatly inconvenienced and treated like a criminal here. Highly recommend going elsewhere. The systems do not work for humans here.
