Had a follow up with Dr Armour for my 113lb American bully Tank. Was a really good appointment. He had Entropin surgery in july to see if he was going to need a 2nd surgery. He is a big guy and they got him in a cloth muzzle because he is mouthy and at his size even a little bit of teeth can be alarming. He didn't mind much, and they had two techs help hold him. The exam was comprehensive, and Dr Armour was great with him. No need for another surgery just need to keep an eye on him in the future.

I have already given a five star review for the consultation and plan of action. This review is post-procedure. My pet had eyelid adenomas that were growing and needed to be removed. This was laser surgery under sedation. I would honestly give more than 5 stars if I could. Dr. Armour suggested my Weimaraner, Micah, come in for one of the first time slots on the day of the procedure as he was highly nervous during the consultation. On the day I was again walked through the plan. Dr. Armour and her assistants could not have been more professional and kind. Upon request they allowed me into the room where he was given sedation so I could ease his anxiety as he went under, I was also there post-procedure as he came around. I was there as they gently lifted him onto the gurney and as he came off. They handled all 72 lbs of him with extreme care. This is where the more than 5 stars came in and is outside of the ophthalmology. I asked them if I could clip his nails while he was sedated. They had already done it, the best clip and pad cleanup he has ever had! I asked if I could put in ear drops while he was out. They did it! As a senior my pup has lots of lumps and bumps and fairly large sebaceous adenomas behind his ears and on his head. They asked me if during the procedure, would I like them removed. Yes please!! They sent all removed tissue to the lab to test, all good. They answered all my questions between consultation and procedure. I had concerns about giving eyedrops so they suggested the drops could be compounded into an ointment and liaised with the external lab for me. I thought the cost of the procedure was very fair considering the expertise, equipment, sedation, lab results and take home meds. I love this place, the breadth of services they offer and the love and respect they showed my pet.

Dr. Armour demonstrated attention to detail and a general sense of kindness towards our baby Millie (Boston Terrer). She identified a detached retina, promptly referred us to a specialist and helped us greatly in our efforts to deal with a very stressful situation. I am grateful for her efforts, and if Millie could type I’m sure she would say the same.

Dr. Armour + her team are like super heroes honestly. We've seen them twice now... both unrelated events and we are still amazed by modern medicine and Canine Ophthalmology. Our dog was seen yesterday within an emergency / short notice after an accident at the dog park. Injuring his eye while playing with a stick his eyes were swollen and infected after 24 hours and was then seen at AVO. Dr. Armour and her team removed a partial of stick that was lodged somewhere in his eye. He was taken cared of and loved! Whom ever writes the reports is so thorough and writes every detail in the comments helping you understand what was going on behind the doors. We honestly cannot thank their team enough. They're so kind and helpful and I always love chatting with Holly via email who's super kind! We hope to never be back for any more eye issues but never say never we trust their team whole heartedly. The best of the best!!All the love, Leo + Work family.

When our 1.5 year old rescue developed eye problems that turned out to be primary glaucoma, we consulted three different veterinary opthalmologists. We ultimately decided to go with Dr. Armour because she was the most thorough, spent the most time explaining everything and laying out options, and had real compassion. We would highly recommend her and her team. All of the vet techs we have seen are very nice and very capable. The admin side is well-run.

I was referred here by my regular vet so that my dog could have a mole (that was eye adjacent) removed. I wasn't thrilled at the idea of having to drive from Arlington to DC NW but when I looked at reviews of other ophthalmologists in the area, I resigned to the fact that this was the best option. My regular vet referred me here because they didn't have the tech to do a laser removal in their office. He said this would be much less invasive than just cutting it out, and that it would be cheaper since she wouldn't have to go under general anesthesia. This isn't actually true when you have to pay $380 for a consult just to schedule a procedure, but whatever. I figured this was better than having stitches in her face right next to her eye. The day of the first appointment, I was surprised to learn that the consult takes place in the lobby of the office... surrounded by at least 20 other people and their cats and dogs. I've had dogs my whole life and have (unfortunately) been to a lot of specialists at other offices.... and never have I had to meet w a vet in a lobby (as opposed to a private exam room). Oof. On to my main complaint. I point blank asked Dr A about the recovery time. I EXPLICITLY said "my dog goes to doggy daycare. Will she be able to go back right away or should I keep her her home while it (the wound) heals?" I got a resounding "no it's totally fine" to send her back to daycare. Well ... she essentially had an open wound on her face that didn't start scabbing for a week. I had to have her in a cone for a week and a half before I felt comfortable leaving it off as she has a tendency to rub her face into blankets. So no, she would not be going to daycare to be in a room w 35 other dogs who all stick their faces in each others butts. I ended up losing over $100 in prepaid daycare that I couldn't use, and having to spend an additional $105 to have my dog sitter check in on the days she was supposed to be in daycare. I honestly have no idea how this miscommunication happened or what I could have done differently to have a better understanding of what to expect. Dr. A said that the procedure went exactly as planned so it's not like they got in there and realized that it was going to have to be more invasive. Bottom line is this "oversight" added another $200 to my bill in addition to the $2000 I had already spent at the office (1600+ for the procedure and pathology). Not ok. I'm also not convinced that I needed to take my pup to an ophthalmologist. I probably should have asked if my vet knew of other offices that had the equipment instead of just coming here. But you live and you learn.General note: parking here is horrendous. There is a small "garage" in the alley just past the building. Don't even bother. Even if there is an open spot, I'm sure getting into it is a nightmare. I got lucky with street parking a couple times but also had to park a few blocks away at the container store for a small fee.

Dr. Armour and her team are absolutely fantastic. Our pup has had two serious eye injuries, one requiring surgery. In both cases Dr. Armour took time to answer all of our questions and discuss options, we were updated on progress, we received calls to check in on Wallace, and we were able to get in touch easily when we had questions or concerns. What's most important is that Wallace has received the very best medical care, we are so grateful that in addition to that we have felt supported and well-informed every step of the way.

After the appointment, Dr. Armour called to tell me I had made her technician cry, but wouldn't give me any details or help me understand. As a result, I didn't feel comfortable returning for follow-up care

Dr. Armour and team are terrific! They are extremely knowledgeable and friendly and they saved my puppy from losing his eyesight from a severe infection. The team is very responsive with emails and calls, and they treated my puppy with extra care. I would definitely recommend them!

Dr. Armour's technician greeted my dog and I promptly at her appointment time. The tech asked me brief questions and suggested I accompany her to the door because of her nerves. Ten minutes later, Dr. Armour came out to discuss my dog's eyesight. She was professional, warm, thorough, and clearly cared about my rescue pup. Fantastic vet. Couldn't ask for better.
